My best childhood friend, Rodney, who died in '88, was Black, and i've had many very close relationships with Blacks, Hispanics, etc., and all i can say is that we all were ecstatic, perhaps even obsessed with Michael! Dude, one of the most unforgettable nights i'd ever witnessed was seeing him accept all those Grammy's with Quincy! Outstanding memory for me. My perspective was like, "Awesome! The world is finally growing up!" But from the Rodney King verdict to the present, it's not grown up enough, in my opinion. Just glad to see those statues come down and other better changes being made! Mutual respect is what it's always been about!

    Here's a few you missed:
    - Michael was once beat up by a racist store clerk while he was visiting family in Alabama
    - Michael and his brothers used to get KKK and bomb threats when they'd do concerts in predominantly white areas
    - Michael (and Jermaine) tried to buy a llama but was denied because of their blackness
    - Rolling Stone and other popular (white) publications didn't want to put him on the cover of their magazines, even though Off The Wall was the best selling album at that time
    - Michael experienced A LOT of backlash from racist Elvis fans after he married Lisa Marie Presley
    - He was called n word by a crew member during the making of Thriller
    - Katharine Hepburn did not want him to visit the set of On Golden Pond because he was black (she eventually got to know him and grew very fond of him but that still doesn't negate her initial response)
These are just some of the incidents I can think of at the top of my head but there's probably more that i'm forgetting

Who did an extortion of money from JC Penney, because she said they sexually abused her, it was later proven it was a lie, and she did well fare fraud, and begged Michael to pay her chemotherapy for her son, even though her insurance paid? And she was kidnapped from Michael Neverland Ranch, although she went to the beauty salon, her treatments were paid of course by Michael, and she left the Ranch and came back whenever she wanted to? Her son was only abused within one month, after the Martin Bashir documentary, why not the years before that? When Tom Mesereau asked "why are you angry", the boy answered "because Michael never called us", so that is what a victim would say to his abuser? Or Robson and Safechuck? 60 proven lies in their dirty fabricated story, perjuries, the time line didn't add up, staged scenes, they both needed money, Robson didn't work anymore and Safechuck lost a law suit about $800 000? Michael experienced racism in a hotel in Sydney, Australia in 1996, when he married Debbie Rowe. Michael loved to play pranks on people. Telephone pranks. He called hotel reception (named Sheraton on the Park at the time) impersonating what he thought was a passable voice of Australian actress Nicole Kidman and asked for popcorn, Pepsi and M & M's. The hotel attendant insinuated that because Michael Jackson was black, he'd be more 'at home' eating cornbread, fried chicken and chitlins. Michael was offended. He called back as himself, and asked for "fried kangaroo" - just to be smart. The hotel apologized....

The Jackson 5 also faced racism in Alabama in the early '70s; the hotel "lost" their reservations and J5 had to stay in a room facing a brick wall. There was also Klan paraphernalia in broad daylight for J5 to see. In the '80s, Michael and Jermaine were at first refused a look at some llamas by a racist man until he recognized them as Jacksons. This made me cry so much. So much. Michael is gone. Whitney is gone. Prince is gone. We’ve literally watched as the cultural and musical hero’s from our childhood, and the greatest performers who will ever live in our lifetimes, died from overdoses around us. Needlessly, and long before their time...and I’m crying uncontrollably, at all we’ve lost. And mourned at the cold world we’ve gained, including a garbage, consuming, self centered and absorbed generation who will never know or understand or recognize or comprehend how great they truly were. And that is heartbreaking to me.

When Michael Jackson died they made his death more about Elvis than about him. They even did a piece called “A tale of two kings” featuring Elvis. Typically when someone dies there’s never a reference to other people or making comparisons of the two. He couldn’t even die without them trying to overshadow him or diminish his landmark accomplishments.

Yes, but they also did a lot of shows on just Michael, too, and I know because I must have seen them ALL being a lifelong fan. (MJ was 5 years older than me) Since Michael was married to Elvis's daughter, and Elvis was Michael's father in law, and Michael came after Elvis who was the first King, I don't think that is racist at all. I mean, they were acknowledging that Michael was a KING, and Elvis was a KING, and the responses to their deaths (both being KINGS) was very similar, even Lisa Marie Presley, Elvis's daughter and Michael Jackson's wife said so, so how is it racist?

When you think about it, the man was FAMOUS for 45 of the 50 years he lived. The humility he embodied should be legendary. It's amazing it did not break him sooner, as there are a number of people who could not handle a fraction of the celebrity that this man had. It would have made many people bitter and hardened with cynicism and yet he was, at least outwardly, always looking towards the light, compassion never overtaken by his own ego even despite his own suffering. He was truly kind.

This is a good and important video and I'm glad someone took the time and put it together. It's very important to shed a light at the continuous racism black people in Hollywood have been facing.
Just a note about Michael not being played by MTV. David Bowie also publicly called MTV out for not playing videos of black artists. And I think Walter Yetnikoff of CBS was very bold to threaten to pull all videos by all artists if they didn't play Michael. I'm glad it worked out.
Also thank you to the commentator who pointed out the many occasions the Jackson Five weren't allowed in hotels due to the colour of their skin. Plus it was and still is racism to claim Michael didn't want to be black and bleached his skin! To this day it's white people not reporting or not wanting to believe that Michael had Vitiligo! They claim he hated his race. How dare you! Michael was proud to be black and did so much for the black community especially to get black talent be seen and recognised publicly. Just watch the short film to Remember the Time and the all black cast. Listen to Black or White and watch the video. Etc. Michael never forgot were he came from. May his soul rest in peace. ❤️

I instinctually felt my parents were wrong and I never agreed with their racist attitudes. As I have aged, I am so grateful to my spirit helper that I have openly accepted all Black People. What would history be without the inclusion of Black People and their lives? I just wanted to add my 2-cents worth and state that not all white people are racist.
