In the Hall of The Mountain King, Movement Game, Authentic Listening Activity

This movement game is constantly asked for in my music class. The game is centered around the marvelous piece "In The Hall of the Mountain King" by the composer Edvard Grieg.
How to Play:
Divide students into two groups (kids and trolls).
All students hide in the opening and then take turns moving to the music, crawling or tiptoeing when quiet, moving quickly when loud. When it is not their groups turn to move they instantly turn into a tall tree so they are not “seen” by the other group. At the music’s climax the groups move together and then freeze in statue shapes until the dramatic timpani roll where everyone is transformed into a rock until the end of time.
