I want to make a pom pom rug, so in your experience, about how wide are your strips? Also, I’ve learned that if you cut with the “grain” of the fabric the strips will curl out so the pattern/print is exposed, and if you cut against it it’ll curl inward.
That is a fantastic tip Winter. Regarding the width I used, I honestly experimented first. I would cut a strip and then pull it until I liked the size of the 'curl'. So I would honestly say that it depends on the look you want for your rug! If you use extremely narrow pieces the pom poms will get flattened easily, if you use extremely wide pieces they will be hard to bind. I would estimate that for a rug a good width would be about a half inch. What did you end up using may I ask?
