Clothing Upcycle: A Throwpillow Makeover! How to make throwpillows from old clothes.
I have a very budget friendly clothing upcycle idea you can use to freshen up your home decor while also bringing new life to a beloved, yet worn, piece of clothing. In this video I show you the five throw pillows I made in one evening from five different pieces of upcycled clothing. I used a man's dress shirt, a pair of wool pants, a zip front cable knit sweater, a sundress and a favorite T-shirt. This simple sewing project is a great way to give your old clothing new life while refreshing your decor at the same time!
Check out our blog post on MakeIt.Place as well for more details on how I planned and accomplished this clothing upcycle project.
Enjoy!

How to Perfectly Seam/Sew Ripstop Fabric with your Babylock Acclaim Serger
มุมมอง 30K4 ปีที่แล้ว
Sewing ripstop fabric can be a total nightmare! It is a super slippery nylon fabric that is very challenging to sew, seam and finish. The BEST way to make pom poms from up-cycled t-shirts or leggings

Great question - it is definitely not a flat surface. This countertop wasn't the main countertop, or even countertop in that kitchen (I have since moved to a new State). It was the countertop in the Butler's Pantry so it wasn't used on a daily basis, or even often. It mostly came into use as a buffet table, so to speak, when we entertained. It was a great place to set up a food and/or drink station. This definitely isn't something I'd recommend doing to a daily-use countertop. But it works fabulously well for a countertop that isn't part of everyday use!

I agree with you 100%! Crafting has always been my sanctuary from everything crazy that life throws my way. I recently retired and was hit almost immediately with a life altering medical condition. I became suddenly and keenly aware of how short life really is. I decided it was time to finally treat myself to craft things I’ve wanted forever but for some reason didn’t think I deserved (?). So over the past year, I purchased embroidery, straight stitch, serger, and quilting long arm machines, plus new knitting, crocheting, and cross stitch tools. I still do a lot of charity donations of my craft projects, but these new tools make it easier and much more enjoyable! Thank you for your channel! I hope you’re doing well!

Thank you so much Wendy! That means a lot to me. I still struggled a lot since I recorded that video. In fact, my husband and I decided to make a BIG move from Chicago, IL to Huntsville, AR. It was an excellent decision, we live in the woods now, surrounded by nature which helps. Unfortunately things started to spiral again with a boatload of work issues SO, after 30 years in Corporate America I am fully embracing everything I talk about in this video and I'm opening my own shop! Day after tomorrow actually, July 13th. the Make It Place, LLC shop will be open in Huntsville, AR along with an eComm component. The biz that was already in there was a consignment store which I'll keep to see how that goes. But I'm adding "Made in Arkansas" handmade/homemade art & crafts - there are amazing people locally just in the county where I live, who dye their own yarn, make incredible paper crafts, ALL types of jewelry I had never thought of, a glass blower, multiple woodworkers... I hope to become a destination for finding things from local crafters and artisans (while making things myself of course!). Anyhow, thank you for your note - it's ALWAYS nice to know you're not alone...

This is similar to what I had in mind only I have a much bigger planter so I'm using a 20" planter saucer as a birdbath. It sits on top of a 5 gallon bucket I put inside the pot that will be the water reservoir and provide space around the edges to plant some trailing plants. Like the way you camouflaged the hose. So much easier than drilling through several l rocks.
