I used to have a lot of fun with this TV show. According to them, there were an estimated 150K of these "wrecks" on the road. All looking fine from the outside, but rusted out from the inside. Best fate for them was a date with the baler, but hey, let's do some entertainment before that and warn the audience for the dangers of a bad vehicle state. The programme was notorious for their weird "destruction methods". There is footage of a third rusted out 2CV being broken in two by towing a trailer with it. I also recall a Fiat 132 being destroyed by felling a tree, causing the programme to defend their decision, saying that it was a tree already destined to be felled.
today it would be a very cheap buy..if only for parts lol...the prices of today will make you blind, bought my first car a 2 cv in the 90ts was 5000 quilders which twas a lot of money...there were not many of them on the road, now I see them everyday..meharies every week...think the part of the Netherlands I live is very Citroen classic minded....ride a classic too
my 2cv is also highly valued and I understand that a lot of time and money goes into a very good restoration. but I really don't understand the prices of a mehari. everything new for sale and you don't need hours and hours in sheet metal restoration.
@@dutchcitroen2cv Too rite bout the Meharies..my every day car today is an Ami8Break 1978,and a Vespa P200E 1986 as a back up..just like my dad, who had 2 Amies back in the day after his 2CVs..it runs in the family..love your channel ,only found it today and subbed of course..Happy Easter 😀
Sommige waren ook niet behandeld met tectyl of dinitrol tegen de roest. En er waren winters met veel pekel op de weg. Er speelde ook nog een rol dat er slecht staal gebruikt werd. Het zullen ook geen binnenslapers geweest zijn.
in the Netherlands a lot of 2CVs were sold, so much that in the 1970s and 1980s there were still very many 2CVs in the second-hand market that simply had no value. so many of them have been demolished.

😭
