Nowadays, Stellantis has common standard platforms and they apply what they call "Top Hat" onto them for any specific model and brand (Peugeot, Citroën, Opel, Fiat, DS, Vauxhall, Alpha, Lancia). One plant can produce several different "Top Hat"s on the same production line. Could be any model or brand from that platform.... They try to differentiate brands and models with suspension settings or even piloted dampers, but nothing to do with the original hydro-pneumatic Citroën sphere system....

That car was a meme, even in Europe. Design from just after World Wars, keeping up all to modern times. Engine which was weaker than that of Fiat Seicento despite bulkier size. Everything analog but lights. Stiff suspension. Super thin wheels. And I think you can still special order it from Citroën, even today.

unlike american vehicles in the 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s that used soft springs and dampers and the drove like on a cloud, Citroen achieved the same effect except their cars can actually turn and handle too lol

And this is why large, low profile tyred wheels and big brakes are bad for performance: Unsprung weight must be as low as possible. On my modern BWMs I almost always use the smallest diameter rim that fit over the brakes. Low weight is so much better for handling everyday roads and due to lower rotational moment, you'll also get improved acceleration.

I used to have a lot of fun with this TV show. According to them, there were an estimated 150K of these "wrecks" on the road. All looking fine from the outside, but rusted out from the inside. Best fate for them was a date with the baler, but hey, let's do some entertainment before that and warn the audience for the dangers of a bad vehicle state. The programme was notorious for their weird "destruction methods". There is footage of a third rusted out 2CV being broken in two by towing a trailer with it. I also recall a Fiat 132 being destroyed by felling a tree, causing the programme to defend their decision, saying that it was a tree already destined to be felled.

Es ist wichtig die 2 Blechteller der Brillendichtungen richtig anzubringen. Die Bohrung ist nicht in der Mitte. Die größere Auflage muss unten sein. Sonst wirds nicht dicht. Jedenfalls beim 12 ps ist es so.

Now those were cars with character. Nowadays all those cars look the same, they are soulless big monsters and they can't stand much.

Love these Louis de Funes movies. Mad ..... Often with Citroens... Ah - the joy of 2CVs. Here is Australia I have owned 3 x 2CV6 from new, during the course of 45 years and 550,000 kms. More smiles per mile than any other vehicle... Sheer Joy.
