I've heard a lot of good Jazz bands in my lifetime. This band has to be one of the best on the planet!! The soloist is outstanding as well.

This is the way I'd want my band to play this song (if I had a band) and I would have to have the same singer. I also like Thilo's touch on the piano, especially at the beginning. Excellent.

Great performance, singer has the charisma to match her strong vocal stylings, piano player is beautifully understated, terrific band as well.
What a band ! really swings, and what a good singer, lovely diction, great phrasing, and not singing in her native language. Best version of this song I've ever heard. I guess this was made for German Television we would never see anything like this on the ever BBC where they are obsessed with rock and pop.

Wonderful rendition of this song, written by Americans Jimmy van Heusen and Johnny Burke, by the beautifully talented Caroline Kiesewetter. We would never be able to see such talent in America today. Sad because this is where the Big Band love songs all began. These days American radio airwaves are filled with talentless monotonous trash. Thank you TWBB2012 for sharing this with us !

American radio is pathetic.I believe Europe has embraced jazz because of believe it or not the Classical music and their audience is attracted to better music than the crap this side of the pond.

I could not agree more. Garbage trash on the controlled M(ASS) MEDIA .
Same problem here in the UK. The tyranny of 'playlists' controlling what the public are allowed to become familiar with. Wall to wall commerical 'thump and wail', no melodic line, all on the same dynamic, no key changes, little variety of rhythm, little viariety in instumentation = boring crap.
All the Jools Holland band should be but isn't !

For me, the best arrangement of all Wolf's charts that I've heard - perfect!! - BUT - Caroline Kiesewetter devours this great standard - absolutely owns it - phrasing, timing as good as you get - I mean whew! my VERY favourite
She and the band did a great job on this song. My favorite version, however, is still the Four Freshmen with Sue Raney.
She's a good singer, but no match to her uncle, Knut Kiesewetter, who sang mostly pop hits or northern german dialect songs, but who was an extraordinary jazz singer, too.
I like June Christy's 1954 version
I have a Christy LP from 1960 with that tune on it.

That was a fun arrangement. Band and singer are good. Not at the level of Jane Monheit with Michael Kanan though.
I'm a fan of big band swing, but I still prefer Jo Stafford's 1943 version.
Painting might not work out. Put people in ovens instead.
