You will also come across many new versions of her songs, she often does this by changing the arrangements and lyrics at her concerts. The last clip from the series, where IU plays one of the main roles.
The guitarist and pianist that you pointed out is Kim Jehwi he is an incredible musician and composer he worked with IU on many songs most notably Through the night and My sea (from the ones you heard so far, he rearranged My old story, The shower, and Glasses he also co-composed Heart) he was only 19~20 at that time and that was very impressive. He’s a close friend to IU and they still work together.
Knees is a special song, for iu, for uaena, and for me as well. Honestly, Knees was one of THE song that convince me to become uaena. Imagine you have those dance and orchestral stage songs, but you also have Knees, a very raw, honest, and healing song with beautiful lyrics 😢 this extreme amazed me back then. Oh, and also its self written + self composed
Red Queen - for me it's about how those who are misunderstood by others and towards whom people are full of empty prejudices are equally strong subjected to both love and baseless hatred from others. The song partially was inspired by IU's close friend who was exactly that kind of person. The changed part of the lyrics in one of the concert videos is a tribute to her friend who was literally destroyed by the cruel mentality of Korean society. I'm really impressed with both versions of 23 and both are on my playlist for different moods. Despite all the public perception difficulties around this album because of Zeze, the original version of 23 was a hit at the time and is still very much loved by the public like Knees, The Shower and the rest. Basically this whole album is about the theme of duality. This album is very significant, because IU put all her courage into writing it, managed not only not to break under the oppression of public prejudice, but also to rise to the top.
"Knees" is very special sing to IU and UAENA; i heard that IU mentioned three songs including "Knees" to be remembered after her death in the future (long time later) This song is inspired by insomian, her grandma when IU was young and sleeping on her grandma's knees. IU is know for long suffering insomnia and she wrote many songs about sleeps.
Regarding Knees, IU suffers from insomnia so you’ll find this to be an ongoing theme in her songs. She wrote Knees thinking about grandmother. She said “Knees is a song that I wrote on a night that I had a lot of trouble sleeping and got really angry because of my insomnia. I wondered to myself, ‘Why can’t I go to sleep?’ and it came to my mind that if I rested my head on those knees, I would be able to sleep. I wrote the song thinking about my grandmother. I felt that if I rested my head on her knees while she ran her hand through my hair just like when I was young, I would be able to sleep well. I recall that in those days I could sleep peacefully.”
IU has so many ‘comfort’ songs that both melt your heart and somehow bring a sense of peace at the same time. On this album, Knees was absolutely such a song. I love everything about the song and every IU performance.
there were articles back then that IU changed the lyrics for red queen in the love poem concert as tribute to Sulli but it was never confirmed i think?
Well not exactly confirmed, IU said the lyrics were on the screen but I forgot them all! IU has the memory of an elephant so likely she kept it to her. The lyrics she used were not random either see yourself "Fill up a black martini Fill up the glass for the queen without pity Made her eyes so thinly bloodshot Will she smile at the world one more time? Hey, don't bother queen no more Please don't wake queen up no more Red queen's going back go on My queen keep it up go on Fill up a black martini Fill up the glass for the queen without pity A bouquet of flowers in the dark I give her lullaby bye bye bye Bye, my majesty" Yeah the queen was gone by then and IU misses her, I do too. The last acting cameo Sulli did was on hotel del luna Ep 10, that was around august 2019, she passed away Oct 14
Red Queen is a song she write for Sulli When she have scandal dating someone oder than her a lot, the public critisized Sulli a lot that lead to her suicide some month before the love poem concert. IU rewrite the rap to dedicated to Sulli to have a happy life and IU has a song called Lullaby too
I thought it would be nice to cover the song ‘23’ from the OST of the drama ‘The Producers’ featuring IU, so thank you for reacting to it. The ‘23’ you saw in the video is the full version of the drama shoot.
Since I can see how you really pay attention to the lyrics, it would also be fun for you to react to IU and Kim Eana (Famous Korean lyricist who wrote a lot of IU's songs on her albums before IU started writing most of her own songs) episode in IU's Homebody signal2 entitled IU x Kim Eana Lyricists Talk on official Edam Entertainment TH-cam channel. Or 180117 JTBC's 'Newsroom' interview with Singer IU posted with sub on IU Teamstarcandy channel. The former is IU talking with Eana about many of their songs (ex. about how they write their lyrics etc. which can span from Good day era to Palette era) while the latter is IU is being interviewed about her Pallette album.
That last '23' track wasn't IU, it was 'Cindy' a jaded, unhappy idol being exploited by her agency, with no friends. The jacket she threw to the floor belonged to the variety show producer who had begged her to cover up for the camera because of broadcast TV censorship. 'The Producers', I've lost count how many times I've watched that series.
The producer is a movie where IU play a role call Cindy. Cindy is an arrogant singer, she follow the sexy styles and is a dance singer. But when you get to know her she a sensitive girl who acknowledge of the soft skill because She joined the industry from a young age, she feel hopeless to realised that beside a singer she can't do anything and so tired of the tight schedule that She have every day.

12:41 19:51 I saw things I had never seen before. Thank you.
49:16 This song is in a scene from the series The Producer EP1 52 : 23.
rip sulli. our red queen. they can't bother you no more. ❤ iu killed that verse and killed us all 😭

Twenty three from the Producers sounds like it belongs to a dance club play list
One of my fav song of iu!

IU is just a genius ❤
