I'm amazed when Brits ask questions like this. British land simply doesn't produce enough food to feed the population. There are exceptions of course but overall the uk needs to import food. Here a funny one for Ireland imports over 70% of required potatoes.
Great video Gareth, I might try this one. Not too keen on meat from Thailand as i've been there and know how they treat their animals. We saw a truck full of pigs once all piled up to the top and some of them were still moving. Very shocked to see that.
If we had not exited the EU we could still rely on British food standards being equivalent to European food standards. We can't any longer. The government is desperately trying to scrap all kinds of EU regulations. See what farmers and fishermen are saying about Brexit now! It's as popular as a boil on the bum.
Just a quick point Gareth I think you said it was a two pepper hot in fact I noticed on the box it had 3 peppers good video I could buy this might put it on my list .. see you on your next one .
Apparently, Polish eggs are half the price of those from the UK right now. Bearing in mind that bird flu is an issue pretty much worldwide. There's some really tasty birds come from Thailand. One of them works in my local Morrisons and I know her from when she worked in a Thai restaurant when she first came to the UK.
Morning (again) Gareth! Order from ASDA is booked for midday Fri. 3/2/23, includes the above dish as the review was so favourable, there is also an 'upmarket' version that's about a £quid more xpensive.than the yummy version here. I've ordered two of each (to heck with the extravagance!) Luckily I have a good friend as a neighbour, I get his stuff delivered to my address and he will eat anything I'm not keen on. Need another way of cooking the spring roll, may try it raw to save on the leccy! Also have a packet of the most famous cream crackers due me, in order to take part in your 'challenge' tomorrow, a large glass of chilled water (just in case it's needed. Hope your site continues to delight, inform, entertain as it always does, and grow exponentially - wotever the F. (flip) that may mean! VBW x
Looks tasty and good value for money. On the foreign chicken, really we should only be eating chicken reared in the UK, but the unfortunate truth must be that it's so cheap to buy abroad, even when it's flown to the UK it's still cheaper than using birds reared in the UK. And I'm sure I've had my fair share of foreign chicken 😂
Gazz, add 3 or 4 drops of Sesame Oil to the Rice , stir it about, and it makes a big difference to the bland rice , but not if you are allergic to nuts or don't like Sesame 😄 Keep up broadcasting a great channel 👍
Hey Gareth, it's had to explain how much I enjoy your videos. The style and tempo is perfect, the honesty and relevance is a bonus. Keep up the great work, mate :)
I had a look for the last curry one you did in my local Asda but it didn't have them. Asked the staff member and they had no idea. Need to check again.
Good morning Gareth👍 Have my monthly ASDA order due 2/2/23, will add this sooo-yummy review to the list, best to build that dam I reckonz. Spring roll is a microwave jobbie for sure. Fab review! (yet again) thank you & VBW x
Not bad for the money, good for keeping in reserve for an ‘I fancy a takeaway’ moment if you haven’t takeaway cash. I think most folks would just put up with a soggy spring roll for the microwave convenience.
Lynn here on Hubby's phone 😏, Hi I was listening and going to try it , but from Tyaland that's put me off , didn't Covid start from chicken abroad and have you seen how they keep their chickens there ?, Not for me 😝
This looked really nice, and for £2.50 it's good value. As for buying chicken in Thailand as opposed to UK? I think that if the big companies were to buy from UK farmers with large orders on a regular basis, then I'm sure a deal could be made to lower the cost. Just as, if they continue with shipping food in from foreign countries, then the price of UK farmed foods will go up in order for the farmers to make a fair profit from their hard work. Keep up the good work of bringing your reviews to the people 👍👍🇬🇧👍👍.
Maybe no gristle and no bones but full of allergens I cant have, that's life I suppose. A lot of fuel consumption for cooking a small spring roll. My home-made Beef stew is cooking away, so that will have to do, with dumplings of course. (not complaining). Glad you enjoyed bud. Looked ok. All the best and gratz on reaching 60k subs.
In my local co, op !! Chicken had gone up By over double, not just a couple of weeks ago, could buy a full chicken for £3.99.. and buy a cooked half chicken for £2.29. The cooked half chicken is now £5.00 , and the whole chicken is now on like £7/8. Quid???
I have had the other one in the family it was very good and handy to keep in the freezer I will pick one of these up next time I go in Asda and give it a whirl. It's best not to say £2.50 is a bargain supermarkets don't need any encouragement to put prices up as we all know best to say it would be better if it was £1 cheaper
Thank you Gareth for bringing to our attention where the chicken is sourced from. Also iceland use chicken from Thailand. I never used to look at this. Well we know what Thailand are famous for woof woof lol. Putting me off a bit . Take care
I've had more trouble with the old Delhi Belly in Europe to be honest ❗️ been to Thailand twice and no problem at all with chicken or seafood , the restaurants were really nice and the food well cooked and served hot 👍🏻👍🏻
Think its mental how our country looks down on other countries like our county treats us well. Other country’s probably have just as good quality control as us but somehow we seem to look down on them

Hi Gareth a great review 😊it's a sad fact that chicken is cheaper to import rather than use are own, but I'll definitely be giving this one ago, P's there is a new Branston mayonnaise called Branstonase it comes in small cunks or smooth and its available in ASDA 🍻🙏
Good on ya matey looks good something I'd love to eat no I wouldn't mix together though eat separate with the rice spring roll one only in the oven nope no way use too much electricity enjoy dude
You eat the same as me. I build a wall with the rice down the middle and keep the other parts separate. If it's all mixed together I would get bored of having the same taste all through everything 🙂
We have such high standards when it comes to rearing animals including chickens in this country ,I would guess the supermarkets don't care where the meat comes from as long as their sales and profits keep growing. This has made me feel hungry. Mixing items on a plate: I rarely do this except a couple of combos like bacon and egg or chips and beans. I would certainly never mix the two sauces here, but I would eat each, in turn, with the rice. I've had something like this before, from Iceland I think and it was OK. Not authentic but very edible. Thanks for tasting these for us. It's a horrible job this eating, but someone has to take the bullet for the team! I think British chicken may be dearer because our chickens are kept in more humane conditions. I can't imagine them being free-range in Thailand.
People see this food at a cheap price and that's why they buy it, they get it home and then see what is involved in the cooking and realize it's not so much a bargain, they sell the fact it is chicken but it's only bite size.
Hi Gareth. Where in Asda did you find this meal? After watching your video I went to my Asda and went to the usual take away section and that meal was nowhere to be seen. Was it in the freezer section? In fact I looked across the whole store and still couldnt find it. Please let me know and I'll go back again. It looked really nice and I want to try one. Cheers Gareth. 👍.
My wife and I shared Chines meal for two tonight from Tesco's contained a bag of prawn crackers 4 spring rolls fried rice chicken in black bean sauce and chicken curry good sized portions and all for 6 pounds. Great value for money 👍
I think they use Thailand chicken because it’s cheaper than British chicken. I’ve tried Thai chicken and in my opinion it’s tasty. A lot of British chicken is bland. I don’t if it’s what the British chickens given to eat. ten years ago there was much more taste to them.
£2.50 is a bargain! These days, anyway. Tesco's cheap chicken tikka masala and rice (their Hearty Food Company) was £2.49 last week. This week... £2.80. I need to do more foraging in my local Asda 😊
Gareth. Obviously the rice is part of the dish so if you don't mix it with the sauces do you eat the rice dry at the end of the meal. I would think that you want some cross contamination here.
Nice review Gareth. I got the Firecracker Chicken one in a carry box like you get the Chinese carry box for two. Wow that was hot 🥵 needed some cream in it, it was hot 😊
why are company's like asda not buying british chicken
Good point
Fowl play on their part
Coz strangely it's more expensive. Especially with this bird flu business

Spring rolls are one thing that really aren't the same if you do them in the oven rather than deep fry. Chips are another obvious example
u carnt cross contaminate if its the same meal / it said 3 pepper on the box
Looks nice I used to work at a British chicken factory our chicken is very safe good for you Garlic ginger
Don't call me ginger.
I used to work in a Bra factory, until they went bust...
I would rather pay a fair price to a British farmer, and dread to think what animal welfare standards are like in the far east.
The UK probably wouldnt even be able to produce enough chicken to use it in ready meals.
Unfortunately, welfare standards here are still generally awful. just check any undercover video from an industrial farm or slaughter house in the UK.
If we had not exited the EU we could still rely on British food standards being equivalent to European food standards. We can't any longer. I always do spring rolls in the microwave, then a quick shallow fry to crisp them up. Just takes a few minutes.

I pan fry mine. 8 minutes, turning frequently.
Wrap your spring roll or any pastry in kitchen towel in the microwave, one minute off and on until done mate.

I guess Banham Poultry can only produce so many chickens - god knows how many get eaten in the UK each day alone!
Good question!
Agree! Don't mix em up, I shudder when my lovely wife does that. Always
How would this compare, in price, and taste, to a tin of Asda curry chicken and a packet of their instant rice?
Can't wait for your next live video when do you think it will be.
