Wow! That is an excellent modification video. I love these baits straight out of the package. I can’t imagine how much better they will catch fish on my super pressured lake after doing this.
This was a good one. I just did 5 tonight , I watch this last night got everything prepared today after dinner sat down and knocked them out, just waiting for tomorrow to seal up. They came out perfect, the braided split rings, genius.... thx for sharing I'm dying to try these new 5 baits out.
E2, thank you for sharing, never thought about braid as a split ring but would sure come in handy and something that can be done on the water if needed.
Edwin, watching this at 2am because grandkids are here for two days. I like tinkering with baits. Can hardly wait to start on this project. Super cool. 🎣🐟
I use the same method but with Superglue for silencing my crankbaits. The foam I use it for lures that I find that want float no more or for buoyancy. Tip put a bead of that foam in the tail of a worm or the clamps of a crawfish!👊🏾💪🏾
Edwin, Nobody shares the juice like you do, I am going to use this tip at Lake of the Ozarks and Ill bet it will be magical! Thanks for the tips and God Bless.
Im gonna have to try this. I fish a couple spots that are heavily pressured with everyone throwing stick baits and rattling crank baits. Thanks for the video!
Awesome tip here! I'm gonna try this. I'm following many boats slinging chatterbaits non stop and I'd imagine a quieter crankbait coming behind would mop up.
Have you tried doing this with jerkbaits? Cabelas has some on sale right now and I’m really tempted to try!!! I think the biggest issue would be getting the balancer in the right spot
Edwin, thanks for all of the helpful instruction in this video. I really appreciate the mention on the Texas Tackle split ring pliers. I cannot tell you how many pairs of bad split ring pliers I own. I have been looking for a good working pair that would help me switch out the trebles on some of my crankbaits. Some crankbaits I have had as long as thirty years, others simply get tangled up on each other on casts, and some just flat out need to be upgraded. I found the Texas Tackle split ring pliers available at Tackle Warehouse and Cabela's.
Edwin, my father was a serious fisherman and went on to be a game warden here in oklahoma. Your attitude and overall presentation reminds me of him. Thanks for what you do.
Amazing secrets! Thanks so much Edwin. I've been a fan since you did your first few Mike Auten Classic Patterns videos. Congratulations on all the success. Keep grounded as always.
Whatever it takes? The devil is always in the details. Norman made me some Silent DD baits while they were in the process of coming out with the silent DD22. Hard to beat the Silent model sometimes. Sorry they sold out to Pradco ……they slaughtered the color selection now down to a minimum.
Always wondered why so many companies are not also offering a silent version of their crankbait. Fishing pressured lakes from the bank I’ve noticed that the younger fish hit the rattles but I’ve thrown some silents and that’s when I get the bigger ones. Those fish hear that rattle all the time and got to be weary of it.
Need to talk to Berkley about making a silent Dredger. I have several Dredger 25.5 and 22.5. Really impressed with them and the hooks are legit. Thanks
Brother you need to put those baits in a vice or something or you are going to put a drill bit in your hand or finger. Great information on making crank baits silent.
Braid rings… BRILLIANT!! I’ve fished my whole life and never heard of anyone doing that. Great idea, thanks for sharing. What are the chances you’d send one of your give away baits out with the braided rings ?? 🙏🏽
Definitely a good hack sir but I’m gonna echo what others have said. Being that you’re on the pro staff with Berkley along with other pro anglers, and you guys pitch new ideas you’d think Berkley along with other major bait companies would take this idea and run with it. They would for sure be a good selling bait!
Super cool trick! Definitely going to try it. You’re probably tired of the safety comments but when you were drilling the bait in the palm of your hand I could barely watch. Love your content Edwin. Wondering if you would ever consider doing one on positioning the boat to fish shallow submerged building foundations?
Glad to see I am not the only one who gets that crap everywhere LOL I was putting it in a climbing treestand and it went up into the arm for the cable... I had to get a flexible drill bit and ream it out LOL
Thanks for sharing! I just wrecked a handful of 25.5's last week trying to do this. Any chance Berkley has a silent model in the works? Would love to see that offered as well as some more translucent colors! Also - any tips for removing the stock paint on a Dredger? It is tough as nails.
Edwin, Never in my mind would I have thought to use braid as a split ring. Thank you for that! I am definitely going to try this. I guess the foam isn't enough to alter the depth of the bait because it buoyancy and basically air correct? Again, thanks for all you do for us amateur's..
Thanks for the secret tip! To honest I don’t think I will use this one, my eyes even with glasses I couldn’t see to tie the spilt rings. Lol Again really appreciate you sharing your knowledge
I noticed that your 1/8th inch drill bit wanted to slide when you first started drilling. I know this will add a step to the process, but consider drilling a pilot hole first with a 1/16th inch bit. You will have an easier go when you us the 1/8th bit.
Hope this helps you guys! If you have any questions LET ME KNOW👇👇
That's some cool bait customization, and I already have all those things in the garage 🤔
5 people are upset you gave out secrets hehe, going to get some dredgers and give it a shot
tell berkley to sell silent dredgers from the factory!
Thanks for the juice coach. I’m always listening when talk fishing coach💪🏽
Thank you for the instruction
Great tip ! Watched it two times
Man you are the OG .. of this fishing world... thank you all good tips!! 🤝🤙
Thank you!
What a awesome tip! THANKS
Great job

Thanks for the tip!!!!
great tip. keepem coming.

Great video thank you for the insight
out standing,
E2, thank you for sharing, never thought about braid as a split ring but would sure come in handy and something that can be done on the water if needed.

Good video
Thats cool , I really enjoyed this video. God bless buddy.
That’s such a cool process. Thankyou for the knowledge and step-by-step
Braid spilt ring is an amazing idea. quick fix on the water if someone doesn't have spilt rings.
Thanks for sharing your tips, wisdom and all that you do. Be blessed

Awesome tip. Thanks so much for sharing.
You bet - thanks for watching!
Evers Ninja baits! Luvin it. I can imagine a little bit more potential of a reaction when silently it shows up near mrs bigmouth. Thanks for the tip.
Thanks for the tips I get more knowledge from your videos than anywhere else
Thank you Justin, I’ll get them coming!
Awesome trick!Thanks Edwin. 👌
You bet Attie thanks for watching!
seriously cool! Thank you!
Thanks for the great tips Edwin.
Really awesome, thank you.
So helpful like the way you think out side the box as you often say, helpful tip.🙏
Awesome Tommy I’m glad you like it!
Great video awesome trick thank you first this !
Absolutely thank you for watching!
Great idea!
Thank you!
Nice, I hope it helps!!
I love the braid trick. I already use a lot of silent cranks so this trick will actually make them silent.
Awesome stuff !!
Thank you Harold!
Awesome vid 👍 really helpful
Thank you I appreciate it!
Professor E E in the house! Another super tip. Thanks for the time and the clarity of your vids. Apprec. It
Game changer?? I think so!😎
Have you tried doing this with jerkbaits? Cabelas has some on sale right now and I’m really tempted to try!!! I think the biggest issue would be getting the balancer in the right spot
Pro tip use a 1/16" drill bit for pilot hole before the 1/8". Makes drilling the holes much easier
Hey E, use acetone or clear PVC cleaner to clean the foam off your hands before it dries!!! Thanks for the crankbait tip!! Keep the videos coming!!!
Thank you will do!!
Great tip!!! Off to the fish cave to do some modifications!
Edwin, thanks for all of the helpful instruction in this video. I really appreciate the mention on the Texas Tackle split ring pliers. I cannot tell you how many pairs of bad split ring pliers I own. Great tip Edwin. Where I fish with 20+ feet of vis, I think a lot of the rattling cranks put the fish off.
Edwin do you change the hooks?
Edwin, my father was a serious fisherman and went on to be a game warden here in oklahoma. Your attitude and overall presentation reminds me of him. Thanks for what you do.
My luck all mine would sink or float on its side lol thanks foe the info any help is good help for east tn new guy be safe
Do u think maybe the reason balsa crankbaits work better a lot of the time is the different sound the hooks slapping the side make?
Could be one reason but another could be the buoyancy of the bait and how it deflects off of a object..?
Can you do a more in depth video on tying that particular know with a braid split ring? What do you call that knot?
Amazing secrets! Thanks so much Edwin. I've been a fan since you did your first few Mike Auten Classic Patterns videos. Congratulations on all the success. Keep grounded as always.
Edwin we HAVE to go fishing sometime!
Edwin, just curious what would it hurt if your crankbaits sank slowly?
Whatever it takes? The devil is always in the details. Norman made me some Silent DD baits while they were in the process of coming out with the silent DD22. Hard to beat the Silent model sometimes. Sorry they sold out to Pradco ……they slaughtered the color selection now down to a minimum.
Will this help in the River fishing. Cause I have trouble with crank baits.
Always wondered why so many companies are not also offering a silent version of their crankbait. Need to talk to Berkley about making a silent Dredger. I have several Dredger 25.5 and 22.5. Really impressed with them and the hooks are legit. Thanks
I'm shocked dredger doesn't make a silent model. I guess that's what makes you guys top notch pros. All the attention to detail and Mods are awesome.
Mmm ..Berkeley sounds like a new signature line of baits... Awesome
Great stuff as always! When do you use a silent bait vs. a rattling bait? Water clarity? Fishing pressure? Etc..
Good stuff would of never thought to make a crank bait silent. But I bet Berkley going to make silent deep cranks after this vid
I need to see that braid oring knot again Edwin, maybe w something lil bigger in slower motion.. sorry u tied it lil fast
Cut the straw into 2 inch pieces. It will give you more control when injecting the foam.
Brother you need to put those baits in a vice or something or you are going to put a drill bit in your hand or finger. Great information on making crank baits silent.
I've got a few scars doing this to my hard baits. Lessons learned.....Nope still do it to this day. Lol
It feels so good working on bait mod’s lol. And it’s better when one I’ve mod’ed works.
Braid rings… BRILLIANT!! I’ve fished my whole life and never heard of anyone doing that. Great idea, thanks for sharing. What are the chances you’d send one of your give away baits out with the braided rings ?? 🙏🏽

Hey buddy great video.one question, can you do the same with a lipless crankbaits thanks for this video
Super cool trick! Definitely going to try it. You’re probably tired of the safety comments but when you were drilling the bait in the palm of your hand I could barely watch. Love your content Edwin. Wondering if you would ever consider doing one on positioning the boat to fish shallow submerged building foundations?
Damn dude yer giving up All the good stuff. Lol I am going to try this. Ty E. For all ur info
Dang man, just talk to Dan about making a silent one and a one knocker!
Edwin could you please show that again with a piece of rope I kept backing up and still didn't get it.
Thanks Edwin, but there’s no way I’m good enough with tools to do what you’ve described. I will just try to find silent ones for sale.
Get a Rapala DT 16 and go fishing 🤔🤣😂
Do you have an address that fans can send you baits or other stuff?
Edwin, Never in my mind would I have thought to use braid as a split ring. Thank you for that! I am definitely going to try this. I guess the foam isn't enough to alter the depth of the bait because it buoyancy and basically air correct? Again, thanks for all you do for us amateur's..
I make my own crankbaits out of balsa. Only noise it makes is the hardware. The noiseless gets bit way more.
Hey bro! You really should be wearing safety glasses when handling that expanding foam. You only one set of eyes 👀
8th ounce drill bit. Lol. Im going to start saying that at work.
Break cleaner will take that stuff off.
Strike king has a silent XD line..
Hey Edwin, maybe if you come to Arkansas some time me and you can go fishing🎣😊
It would be nice if Berkley would just make some Dredgers and not put the balls in them. Maybe they could have a Dredger EE Edition.
Great vid. Would love to see a video on removing hooks from buttocks. Keep them coming.
why not use a little bit of super glue and epoxy the holes
Where are your safety glasses
What if we just bullied manufacturers to make every bait have a silent option instead? :)
7/16's not 7/10's lol.... I thought that was funny!
😅
Actually Matt, on those calipers, the scale is set to 1/10 th, so Edwin was correct.
Dr. E and the crankbait clinic ! Great stuff . . . . . . Literally !
Thank you Sonya I appreciate it!!
WD40 will get a lot of that foam off your skin
Dont the makers of this bait spend big money to make them rattle?
That’s bad to the bone
Hope it helps you!
