We have a lot of tiny white, light gray ladybugs in our garden. They like to hang around the flowers. I think they're Ashy Gray Lady Beetles. There are mobile apps that help you identify bugs/pests. I also use the Pl@ntNet app which identifies plants/trees/flowers. It seems to work great.
Cool, I have never seen one of those. I know there are probably 100s of species of ladybug, I just wanted to focus on the Asian Lady Beetle and a few "common" native varieties. Great idea using an app to ID plants, that is the future!
I think we still have native ladybugs around here (Im in Ontario). I had to go searching through a bunch of photos but I found a photo of my daughter holding a ladybug. Im pretty sure its a native one. Didnt have an 'M' shape on him but its hard to tell from the photo. He looks like the one with the 2 white circles on him (can't remember what you called it haha). We do have the asian beetles too but I think the normal ones are still kicking it here ;)
I know this video doesn't have alot of ladybug footage (it was in the early days of my channel), but I did lots of research for it, so I'm glad it helped :)
Some people recommend building lady bug habitats, like bundles of sticks for them to over-winter in, but I have not had much luck with them. Native plants that attract their food (aphids) can help, like fleabane.
This video would have been much better if it was extensive and thorough. Should have had examples of the native species just like you did with the Asian species. Also you didn't provide any scientific names for any species. Was definitely dissatisfied with this identification video.
Thanks for the feedback, I am working on a new video and will include scientific names and a bunch of footage I shot in summer of various species of ladybugs.
Very helpful. I’m on the lookout for natives ones, too.

That would be the "Convergent" Ladybug, one of the most common in North America. Good to know they are still out there!
Great video! I just subscribed. Looking forward to seeing more.
Great teaching video, just what I was looking for. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks!
You're a wonderful teacher, Thank you
A lady friend of mine sent me a pic of a convergent. Thanks to your video, we are both more educated.

Which deference lady bird beetle male or females .
This is a long time later but, do you know if good lady bugs always have black legs and antenna?
Thanks for the video but I got a little lost as it’s not very clear from the beginning about which one is the native or the Asian one.
The Asian Lady Beetles have that M or W shape on the pronotum.
Are they dead?...
Yeah :( I couldn't find any in the garden, i found these in the basement.
in chile we already have the asian ones, the harlequin.
Do you have any tips to attract more native ladybugs 🐞

wait. whuuut? some variety bite.
😩
The Asian Lady Beetles bite yea, only if they are threatened, but yea!
Great Vid! Won't be using the scientific name so didn't mind that you didn't include it. Thanks!!!
Im working on a new one, now that I have lots of footage of other types, It should post sometime this year. Thanks for watching!
YELLOW liquid I’ve only seen orange
I found a ladybug that has 16 sports
The 7 spotted ladybug is definitely very much not native to North America and is outcompeting native species.
