    I have a 30 year old used KitchenAid blender. There is nothing like it sold new on the market. It's built like a tank, very heavy all metal, thick glass construction. The tall vessel has an oversized plunger hole in the top big enough to push celery or carrots through. This old beast knows how to properly chop nuts with well defined bits. It is the best tool for preparing east Indian chutney sauces, shuzuan pepper sauces and guacamole. I have even made peanut butter in it and it's precise enough to leave it chunky or make it smooth. You can't buy this quality anymore at any store unless you try and buy a commercial blender and those start at well over $800.

      I have a Blendtec, my best friend has a Vitamix. They are both great. One thing about the Blendtec that I prefer and is big for me, is that it has a 2 wing blade as opposed to a 4 wing blade on the vitamix. This makes it so you don't have to tamp things like Kale or Spinach down to get it to blend. With the vitamix, you are constantly tamping to try to get things started.

      @ Hi Susan, she left it out because it's not as well known and it isn't one of the popular choices and Waring doesn't advertise. The Waring is a commercial blender and is solid as a rock. It'll blend anything. It has these big toggle switches, totally old school. It has two speeds, low and high, that's all you need. Who needs 10 speeds on a blender? I've had mine for 10 years and is running as good as the day I got it. It's on Amazon Prime for $365. IMO worth every penny. The model is Waring MX1000XTX. The motor is 3.5 horsepowers!

      For that amount of money, I can just take jar off to fit under cabinets and, being vegan, I appreciate that the blades reach closer to sides than the shorter version. Especially when making thicker foods like peanut butter.

    I have always enjoyed your reviews and this one did not disappoint as well. I actually own the Vitamix 750. I love it! I do not like to imagine my life without it. It is a beast. Well... Recently, I had to send it in for repairs. Thanking God for a 7 year warranty. I have had mine a little over 2 years. All I make is smoothies. I have experimented a bunch, but I have narrowed it down to 4 cups of spinach, 1 cup of pineapples, 1 cup of mangoes, 1 cup of cherries, and 1 cup of blueberries and 1 cup of water to blend. As you can imagine, it takes its share of energy to blend, but I am very happy with the results.
    Well... Because my 750 is off being repaired, I bought the loaner which appears to be a 5200. It has the taller container, etc. as mentioned in your video. Well... It can not compare to the 750. It is just not enough power to blend my smoothie. The blender literally bounces all over the counter and I have to hold it for it to blend. Also, with the wider container, it may be a chaotic blend, but the food drops to the bottom without the use of the tamper. Not so with my loaner... I have to use the tamper and it takes much longer to blend.
    Oh... the point... If I had to do it over again... I would still purchase the 750 over the 5200 and I feel this video supports that decision and I am happy I watched the video and even happier with my 750 purchase. I hope it gets back here soon.
    In either case, cool vid and thanks for sharing your experience.

    I'll continue to stick with my 1970's era Osterizer Imperial, all functions still work, used several times a week, has 10 speeds, crushes ICE better than anything I've see, holds 5 cups of content with easily viewed volumes in US or Metric, only have replaced glass vessel, the original broke the beaker when dropped after use on kitchen floor. All that's needed is a new seal on the base to curb leaking. Not many bells & whistles, has a pulse feature. It makes my day !

    QVC sells Vitamix 5200 a lot cheaper. I paid $300. It comes under the name Vitamix Creations II 64-oz 13-in-1 Variable-Speed Blender, and can be paid for installments. In two weeks, I used it more times than my old Kitchen Aid in 6 years. And the results are far better than any other blender I used before.

    Your video is what convinced me to go with 5200 over the a3500. Thank you. I already was leery of the "self detect" which seems more like a gimmick to block 3rd party devices and a pointless extra failure point. Then the fact they changed the shape of the container for reasons other than blending function really had me wary. Your video showing that the classic functions better for all tasks sold me on the 5200.

    I have the Vitamix 7500, which is just the 750 but with the same controls as the 5200. There is not one thing it does not do better than the Ninja and Waring models I used prior. I've used it 1-2 times a day for almost 4 years. Yes, it's an investment, but I think it paid for itself in savings from going to Jamba Juice or Starbucks for a frappachino.

  • @subtones1
    @subtones1 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I like the simple controls on the Vitamix but prefer the Blendtec because their Wildside container (especially the newest one with ridges) doesn't require a tamper to push the food down into the blades which is often the case with the Vitamix . As well, it's shorter to fit under cabinets. It's worth getting the smaller Blendtec Twister container too for making almond butter and grinding flax seeds etc (ALWAYS keep ground flax in the freezer folks!)

    Very interesting; thank you. I have the Vitamix Heritage Pro 750, and I love it. Before that, I bought the Breville Boss blender, which I did not use, except to turn it on and see how noisy it was. There was no manual or recipe book with my Boss, so I knew it was going back to the store, anyhow. The Boss was extremely noisy, so back it went, book or no book. I could have settled for the Vitamix 5200 but I got a good deal on my Heritage Pro, so I paid much less than the usual price. I've never had an issue with it. Glad to hear Vitamix is still tops for the reviews.

    I've tried both Vitamix and Blendtec and they're both about the same. The Blendtec redesigned their jar, if you noticed, it has 5 sides rather than the standard 4. It was designed like that because people were complaining about using a tamper all the time, one more item to wash, hence the new design. Also I've made mayonaise in both Vitamix and Blendtec units, but then, I have the Blendtec Classic, not the latest model.

    When making mayonnaise in the Blendtec, do not add all the oil and then start the machine. Add your eggs and just about one quarter of your oil, then blend for about 10 seconds. Then, add the remaining oil in a slow and steady stream through the opening in the lid. Also, it might work better in the twister jar

  • @jubjuber1

    Something they dont mention that i HIGHLY recommend with either vitamix. They sell a smaller pitcher that is narrow. 90% of the time i dont need the space provided by the large wide pitcher and the narrow smaller pitcher provides a better blend with small quantities

    • @maxtheknife
      @maxtheknife 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For an extra $133. IMO, the 48 oz pitcher should be the default for the viamix 5200 or at least packaged along with the 64 oz. $133 extra is a lot to spend on an already expensive blender.

      @Concerned Citizen I got my 5200(both wet and dry containers) from costco for 500 four years ago. I wish ATK compared the grinding of the grains on different models/brand. I cook extensively and use the wet not only for smoothies, butter but also lot wet grinding of the soaked grains. I use the dry for wheat, flax seeds and turned into fine. Vitamix 5200 is a beast and I love it.

  • @faylinameir

    I bought my vitamix 5200 10 1/2 years ago off the vitamix website refurbished (it was used for a demonstration) and it's worked great. They have good customer service and when it did need serviced I paid nothing. They also replaced my blender jars, 3 times.
    However it's cheaper if you buy it at Costco and they have a basically lifetime return policy (recommend keeping your receipt).
    I even bought a blendtec to compare it and there was no comparison. The tamper is worth it.

    • @faylinameir
      @faylinameir ปีที่แล้ว

      5 years later let me update. I still have my 5200 but at this point I'm not happy with it anymore. The large jar they replaced due to coming apart is doing the same thing because of the motor. They were supposed to fix that issue and claimed to basically "replace the whole machine but left the shell outside". I question if they did that. It's still stripping out containers. Now it has an electrical smell when you run it and it barely blends frozen things anymore. I suppose getting 15 years out of the blender is worth it. I'm considering buying a new vitamix 5200, but honestly not sure at this point. I went through two different blendtec models thinking maybe I got a bad one. Both sucked long term. The larger container is nice but the quality isn't as good.

    I own a 5200 and a"digital" interface blender by a different company which I bought on sale for less than $150. It was a closeout high powered competitor that I received at a membership club store. It came wit a 10yr warranty, lifetime returns through my club and has worked flawlessly over the last 5yrs just like my Vitamix. They blend with very similar results and occasionally both need additional time or don't produce the perfect blend without some help. Its still being sold on their website for under $200 which is $200 less than it was at full price a year before I bought it..My point with all of this? There are great deals to be found out there and don't be afraid to try something new (as long as you have proper protection of course) as you may be pleasantly surprised.

    I knew, before the video even started, which model you were going to select -- the olde Vitamix. Why? Because you always do! I've had my Blendtec for about 15 years now, and I would never go back to the clanky, clunky, burn-out of a Vitamix I had. I had an old Vitamix with a stainless steel carafe. You had to turn the knob from forward to reverse as fast as you could in order to get anything to blend smoothly enough. Finally, thankfully, it's motor died and I threw it OUT! I watched the website: "Will it Blend", where they blended everything from baseballs to small electronic appliances and I was sold. I bought one and have never looked back!!!! I'm on my second carafe, and I'm completely happy. Bought the nut-butter carafe and I'm not thrilled with it. I watch videos of folks like you who continue to twiddle with knobs & switches to blend and I just shake my head -- I just press good old button #4 and I can blend almost anything I need -- and I do a lot with raw foods. Good luck to you with your dark ages blender!

      @SmokinPaul 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree, not to mention Vitamix stole Blendtec's patented jar design and lost in court. They used Blendtecs design to improve their blenders. LOL :-) The award so far is $24 million and climbing while Vitamix attempts an appeal they will eventually lose.
      But if you like retro low tech then get a Vitamix.
      If you want a blender that's on the cutting edge that doesn't require or need you to push the food down to work then get a Blendtec.

    My 5200 vitamix is I believe 15yrs now. I only had to change the container after 10yrs. My favorite! I’m not impressed with the newer models at all. But I did end up getting a deal on the smaller model (s55 I think), but it’s not nearly has powerful. I do have to blend it 3x to get it smooth. But it’s useful for when going to work and wanting to make a single serving smoothie. But I don’t like making anything else in that one.
    I think now however you may be able to buy a single container with adapter for the larger vitamix, but I’m not 100% sure. When I have to replace my old vita, I’ll invest in the 5200 again, with no extra bs. 👌🏼

    I own the vitamix ascent 3500 it is a thing of beauty. The only negative is that it does not crush ice very well. The digital features I love and you are right about the self cleaning it's nothing special. Hot soups are amazing in that blender and juice does not need to be strained. Vitamix always preforms well, it's always worth the investment.

      Watch Blending with Henry's video on how to make snow from ice cubes in the Vitamix. Also, crushed ice is a "wet blend."
