Noise you are hearing in the front is an exhaust leak somewhere in the headers. New exhaust headers will fix the issue. Besides that, the engine sounds good. Forks will have to be run on a dial gauge to see if its straight.
The damage is absolutely nuts on this one, hope the previous owner is doing well. Can't wait to see how this rebuild turns out! Much love and God bless CJ!
It's been awhile since I first following your video, and it's always fun to see you restore all the bikes. All the Bible verse that showed up at the end of your video always makes me relief, God bless you brother!
You were right, this gonna be the most expensive and interesting bike rebuild yet, it's really smashed like crazy... wonder if the previous owner got all bones intact, hope so.
Love the rebuilds. I also rebuild copart bikes 10:13 as well. It’s always tough to rebuild a bike cause you never see how much damage is involved until the tear down
I got a trick for ya! Get a ladder and place it over the bike. Then use ratchet straps around the bike and through the ladder rungs to hold up the bike.
The forks you can roll them on a flat table and usually you can tell if they're bent or straight. As far as the noise in the front of the motor check your cam chain tensioner or your valve Kawasakis are known for the cam chain tensioners. Mr motorcycle in Dallas Texas has a lot of parts they also ship world wide pretty fair prices on parts .
Its always a good day when cj posted seeing your videos keep me motivated to finish my 98 honda cbr build its almost finish hopefully by next week it will be on the road again Thank you so much for the good content sick soundtrack and the motivation🙏🏼
Had to smile when I saw the snow, we just got a foot and a half. 😜❄❄❄ However you end up checking those forks please be extra "fussy" making sure they are safe and in spec. Front forks failing would be bad..... Huge respect to ya' for taking on a (re)build like that. Very much looking forward to how the final product looks, rides and sounds. Thanks for sharing and keep yourself safe! 😃👍❤🏍 Randy
Wow a foot and a half is glorious! Yes you're right the forks are a crucial part and need to be perfect! Very happy to hear your enjoying it so far randy! God bless 👊
that clicking was an exhaust leak. if i saw correctly there was a small puncture in the header right at 11:35 . when exhaust leakes it sounds like valves
Greetings CJ. I like your channel. Which I accidentally found)))) Well done for restoring a wonderful creation - a motorcycle. Keep it up. You can see the light in your eyes and actions. To be honest, I envy you)))) in a good sense of the word. You are very lucky in this regard. Once I myself restored one of these. But ... by chance, life made adjustments. Don't stop, keep doing miracles))) P.S. good luck. Greetings from Russia, St. Petersburg. Merry christmas and a happy new year!!
Greetings friend! I'm happy you accidentally found my channel! Hope you are doing well with the adjustments life has made on you! Thank you for your kind words and likwise merry Christmas to you and a happy happy new year to your family as well 👊
Lots of work with this one, but you’re more than capable. You’re obviously sourcing used parts to replace the broken stuff. I’m looking forward to the rebuild! Happy Christmas!
You lucky guy...snow right before christmas! Here in Greece...specialy central greece were i live we have 73 degrees Fahrenheit. Keep up the good work...cheers👌(that noise you hear from the front...is probably the exhaust has busted from the crash.)
I have brand new Z900 2022 and ticking too. I've heard that kawasaki has loud fuel injection system. You should CHECK THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD NUTS & BOLTS too, If those are lose, they'll leak sound of the engine parts working(clicking noise).
Hey. Amazing video, this build is mega. In terms of the forks, you can look down them by eye and see if they are bent easily. Another check you can do is to back off the preload, and damping.. then compress the fork with body weight and see if it feels okay. My recommendation - send them off to a pro to be rebuilt, with new fork oil and seals. They’ll flag if anything is damaged, and also you could even get upgraded internals if you feel inclined. Best of luck!!
Thank you for the information Saqib! Only negative with sending them off is time, I just hope if I go that route it won't take a month or two. But that is a great idea especially since they are an important component
Good work, its breaking down well,I have changed many frames, also had many straightened together with forks,in this case I would go for a second hand frame from a Breakers together with forks and damper, the later I have had lock up on me after heavy damage, even if it looks good
Wow CJ, you're doing an amazing build but this one's way expensive than the previous ones!! Love your presentation. Happy Christmas and New year brother 🎈♥️ From India
Thanks bro! Sick profile picture you have! I'll have to do that some time! It's quite intersting the tools I acquire after a year of working on different manufactures machines, merry Christmas to you!
To check the forks, disassemble and suspend the stanchions and outers between some V blocks. Use a DTI to check for run out. If you cant do this or aren't confident, strip them down and take them to a machine shop. They will be able to check for straightness. that ticking noise is likely just blow by on one of the munched joints on the extractors
I have a question, does that new front have the same chassis serial number? because I understood that this chassis has a unique number for each engine.
it is very satisfying to see these projects. another interesting thing is what I call DIY, in portuguese; faça você mesmo or FVM. but unfortunately we don't have access to so many tools easily, the price around here is absolute. And a good tool makes all the difference! now let's see how CJ will do with this little broken. 😂😂 Hey CJ here I have a modified Z400, when will we have a half cc project? and also sorry if my english is not the best🤭🤭
I don’t know if it’s been recommended yet bud but you should invest in some ceiling hooks to hold the bike up with straps will work a treat for you or a motorbike ramp.
for the front fork you can test it after mounting the front wheel itself and before tightening the 6 head 2 bolt you should spin the tire see if it has curve, Look it from the up site it helps better look. then gave it a pressure by pressing on your ignition. if it goes 3/4 good to go. Sorry about my bad English :P
I hope that white smoke is nothing, just some cold start problem and not piston rings. Anyway very nice content, another build of yours that I need to follow. ❤️❤️ NICE JOB!
hello to you I'm a big fan of your videos I love the state of a wreck to come back in new condition as you are a great enthusiast and it shows on your videos I wish a happy Christmas from the France❤❤
Fork check- pull the shock bodys use a straight edge in 4 places around the lengrh of the body to check to straight. For the tripple clamp you would need the manufactures specs on it to check the degree( i would just replace the triple clamo if the shock bodys are straight)
Not sure if this has already been answered, but if you want to know if the forks are straight you can measure the distance between bottom of the forks where the axle sits, then turn the forks a quarter turn (one fork clockwise and the other counter) within the triple tree and measure again. Do that a 4 times. If the forks are bent then the measurements will be off. Not sure if that made sense lol.
Ticking Sound coming from the front is likely an exhaust leak from the small hole in the right hand side header. They often sound like ticking. It is unlikely to have valve lash out of spec at only 8k miles.
the ticking noise is the exhaust headers, they have a hole in them! also, didnt think a frame swap was even legal? certainly wouldnt be over here in the UK
