Bro your stuff is awesome! I’m almost done with my giant wreath! A few years back I did a “Mini-Mega”. Because I can’t cement anything into the grass (renter) I found someone getting rid of an old tether ball pole that had a cemented-tire base about 15 feet tall. Same concept but when taking it down I tie the light stings to the pole, wrap in a tarp and store it that way. Seems to work.
So happy you like my videos ! Mini mega trees are awesome! I’m glad you’re almost done with your giant wreath! Please share pics of it through my Facebook (Isaac Alexander DIY) so I can see it
You have the patience of a Saint Isaac, I struggle unravelling one string of Chrissy lights for my tree I can't imagine using 20 haha. They look so gorgeous.
💯 agree, I bought a 1200 pack of fairy lights, and it was a nightmare to untangle them. Took me about 2 hours. You would think brand new lights wouldn't be so tangled. One of the many reasons every set of my Christmas lights get wrapped in to multiple small bundles at the end of every year because I don't have the patience to untangle them.
I used to do the same thing 20years ago with the 30' flag pole in california until we got some 40mph santa ana winds and knocked it down I never built it again. Good luck
I did the stake base and conduit upright for my first one. Then, i discovered top rail for chain link fencing. I drove a 4ft piece into the ground permanently and then slid in the upright. My tallest one was 36ft and had 6000 lights.
The lights around your house are beautiful. I am planning to make a mega tree next year and you made it look possible with your great tips. thank you for the links too.
Get the Cordsafe cord protector it makes connection waterproof I swear by them since my Christmas is hold and I sometime keep my sprinklers on. They work great they have a large for 3 prong and small one for Christmas lights.

@IsaacAlexanderDIY OK. I've been with you for a long time now. I will continue to follow you and your great content😃 I look forward to next season. Happy Holidays 🎄
I did this for the last two years. Last year I had a problem with the breakers, then the wind started blowing it over. This year I decided to do a couple of six foot fake trees and added a couple more lilted decorations. Like a 7 foot reindeer.
Fun project here as usual! Well I wonder how many viewers are watching you not because of those very awesome builds, but because they find you good-looking (I bet lots of women are your biggest fans)
Easiest way to make a base ring is to use grey electrical pvc conduit that has the coupler built in on one side. Simply connect 2-3 of these together to make your desired ring size.
This is such a simple, dramatic idea! I did a smaller version (8' tall) and hung it from a high tree branch. I'm surprised you didn't tie or tape the light string plugs to each other, so that they don't pull apart from weight?
Good job. I have a mega tree with 32 strands having 85 pixels per. The height is about 18 feet including the star. I only took out a handful of Xmas decor so far and no controllers set up yet. The most important part of the mega tree is using guy wires!!
Great job!!! I was going to request how you can build a 8-9 foot waterproof Krampus (kind of on the order the way you built your Bigfoot) but worried some people might get triggered by it.
Maybe I missed it, but as you add the lights and are attaching to the topper…how do you ensure you have enough vertical length of light before looping it back again over the next rung on the topper? I ask given that everything is being connected as one continuous strand and you aren’t raising it or attaching to the base until the end.
You have to use Christmas lights with 100 lights per strand which will measure in length between 22 to 28 feet long (depending on the brand). So you don’t need to ensure that you have enough length because each strand should be long enough for a 25ft flag pole
Just incredible!!! I have to ask does your brain ever stop working or is it constantly thinking of these ideas? These are so pretty and amazing:) Tfs and God bless:)
I think at some point my brain freezes, and I start to panic thinking what am I going to create haha but I always seem to come out with ideas or re-create old ones. I’m so happy that you like this one.
Great video... however i would just add if you didn't mention it ..while using rebar is good, it can be deadly. Especially in the dark if someone was to trip. Should put rebar caps. You never know! Better to be safe
I don’t own my house so I couldn’t do anything permanent but I found a school that was getting rid of some tether ball poles and bases, so I scooped one up and use that for mine. It’s about 12 feet high. Perfect for my smaller yard. It’s a “mini-mega”.
The link wouldn’t be active because they aren’t being sold right now until later in the year, but I included a closeup look at the box and the store so that viewers can know which ones I used
I see 20 and 25ft flag poles on amazon. light strands are typically 25 feet long do on a 25ft flog pole I am concerned it wont reach the ground. did you connected more then one strand together for the lengths or what did you find works best
We don’t get very windy storms here, so it’s not been a problem for the last 3 years. That being said, if wind is an issue you might want to put guy wires to support the base
I am thinking of putting a flag pole in a 5 gallon bucket of concrete or tote so it isn't permanently installed . I would put a couple off guide wires ( 3 maybe ? ) to another 5 gallon bucket of cement . we get winds., not crazy hurricane style but winter winds do you think that would be enough ?
@@IsaacAlexanderDIY thanks for the quick reply. I know 25 ft is a long way and A lot if pull on the bottom. Love your videos and have built a few of the 10pvc trees for this year, thanks
PEX is more flexible so it can be coiled up at the end of the season. Buy the whole coil (it's inexpensive) so you only need one connection for the whole bottom ring. You could play with the fittings to make the circle then disassemble. I think last year he used PVC tees and short lengths to make feet for the ring? They just slide over the PEX. Zip tie to short rebar in the ground or put the rebar inside the circle and use tension to hold it (angle rebar outward or use sturdy stakes. Lots of options.
@dianeladico1769 Pex is definitely the way to go if you choose to do a base. I just use tent pegs to hold my lights directly to the ground. Really no need for a base. Although it does eliminate the need to measure every tent stake individually......
Hello Isaac, Great idea on the flagpole Christmas tree. I had been think of a similar idea since last year. But accidentally found your video, and you gave me better insight on how to do it better. My only question is how did you attach the lights at the base? You said wrap the lights around the base. I don't believe they'll stay there on their own. So did you zip tie them at the base or how did you get them to stay? And I'm assuming that you plug the strands together at the top, lights run down to the base, then come back up to the top to plug into the next one, yes? Do you recall how many feet of lights per each box you used and how many boxes it took? I'm guessing 50' string of lights and 18 boxes? Keep up the great work!
@@jimmyparkinson5540 not sure how that’s possible as I’ve just built three mega trees this week using 25 foot poles and 100 string lights and I had more than enough to make the cone shape. Either your pole is taller than 25 or your string lights are shorter. The string lights I used range in size from 27-29ft and they are from Lowe’s .
I’m trying to figure mine out…I have a permanent flagpole….how do you figure the length of each run of lights top to bottom? Is it the full length of one string?
@@TMAC80 this really only works on a 20 or 25 foot flagpole. The lights I bought are 100 lights and it should be about 27 to 28 feet in length. I buy them from Lowe’s or Home Depot
Tie a string to the top of the flag pole, raise it and then mark your string about 4' larger (for wrapping the base) and then measure. This will give you round about what size you need to buy for your size of flag pole and you can determine what size you want the base of your tree to be.. it doesn't have to be exactly as wide as this video.. we have a 20' flag pole so we are going for a 5-6' base.

@@renel7303I don't understand why following him on TH-cam and just posting mean comments on his videos. The guy never said he was a video editor. He is just doing DIY and do it so well ! Instead of spreading your hate on his videos you should spend your time working on yourself and being a better person 😉
