Nowadays anybody can get the tax code without stating a reason. I'm not sure about the consulates and such but if you show up at an Agenzia delle Entrate office, they'll assign one for you and they even have the application form in dozen different languages.
Personally I got mine months before I decided to stay because I wanted to get an Italian SIM with a subscription, providing faster Internet connection without a data cap. At the time prepaids were limited.

Thanks for the video you guys are always very helpful. I'm not an Italian citizen but have recently taken up an Irish passport after brexit. I'm married to a Venezuelan woman non EU and planning to move to Europe together. Can you make a video along those lines??

    Thank you that was interesting.
What about europeans who work in Italy remotely for home country?
Possible to work untill 90 days without any registrations? If that more than 90 days, what that person should apply for?

My mom has a us passport. While in ponza they said she was still a itailian cititzen. She went to three banks in rome and all three said they could not help her open an account? They said she was not a resident? she needs to go to her home town of ponza to open one up?

But doesn’t registration mean taxes on income? Even if the stay is for less than 6 months?

If you're an EU citizen and have non-residence in Italy and also own an Italian property you stay in when visiting Italy (and do not rent this property) can you stay in Italy for 80 days in this property leave for 50 days then return for another 89 days for example as a non-resident ........or are their limitations on how many days an EU citizen can stay in Italy during a calendar year as a non-resident.?Thanks.

If you are an eu citizen you can travel freely and stay for as much as you like in another EU country. However if you plan on staying for more than 90 days you should register as a resident (if you don’t, you can’t access the services that are only available to residents)

@@ItalianCitizenshipAssistance If i as a Eu citizen move to Italy with my non-eu wife, what do I and she need to do for that? I plan work as a freelancer and open Partita Iva.

@@jackiej2347 your wife will have to apply for a residency permit for spouses of Eu Citizens through an office called “questura”

I have a French permanent resident permit.
Does moving to Italy apply to those who are not French, but have the permit I do?
If so, can I import my household goods and drive my car there which is registered in France?
What about health care in Italy? I have health care in France, so I assume I must register.

My sister and brother in law wish to move into my home when they move to Italy. Will that count as a legal residence ? They will be eu citizens.
