Man, with the quality of this video being this good, it's criminal that it has so few views. Very well done and comprehensive.

Thank you for watching! Do you mean specialty soft contact lenses? Just want to make sure I understand your question before providing an answer :)

      Good day Doc. !
So I was looking for scleral contact lenses that can be "white- hand painted" on the parts of sclerae to mask pigmentation in my eyes and remain transparent on the cornea.... However, I read an article that stated, one can either opt for SOFT HAND PAINTED SCLERAL LENSES or RGP HAND PAINTED SCLERAL LENSES.. But the article didn't go in any detail to explain what is the difference between the two and if they both can produce the same results on everyday usage
Thank you for your time Doctor!

@@GBabuu Thank you for clarifying. I see what you mean - yes, these are now considered more of a prosthetic/cosmetic type of scleral that, as you mentioned, masks any irregularity of the person's eye. In addition to the cosmetic piece, yes, it is possible to have optical correction for vision during the day. Now if the condition of the patient is significant and the eye is rendered 'not function', there is an option of something call a scleral cover shell. This is purely a prosthetic - meaning that it is purely for cosmetic reasons and not vision correcting. Scleral lenses are typically made of RGP material .. so they are synonymous - talking about the same thing. The centre near the pupil of course would remain clear for vision and the hand painted area that extends beyond is customized to match the natural colour of your eye and/or cover any other imperfections. I hope that answers your question? Let me know! Thank you - you have helped me with an idea for a future video :)

@@drnataliechai5551 Thank you very very much for such an elaborate response, Doctor!!! One last question if I may ask,
Do you at your practice/ or would you recommend me of a specialist who works on these specialized scleral lenses? because where I live in South Virginia, I can't seem to find a such a specialists other than general optometry services.
PS: My motivation to get white hand-painted scleral lenses was informed from a paper that I came across when contemplated on "white eye surgery" after chronic redness suffering for a long time: link below

Thank you again Doctor Chai, have a blessed weekend !!!!

I have grain Corneal dystrophies ... a very rare condition and I’m going blind. Like it make you feel like you’re looking through fog and in the sun it’s almost impossible to recognize a persons face that’s directly in front of you. Would these lens help me in anyway possible? I seriously don’t want to get surgery. Please help.

Ugh, my fitting was nothing like this. He only left them in my eyes for like 3 minutes before checking and trying other ones. Also, I can tell her didn't know much about KC because I knew more than him just from my own research. I've had my sclerals for a week and I'm still getting really red eyes after about 3+ hours of use. They feel dry. Also, they gave me almost no instructions after my lenses came in so I had to research how to care for them. :(
