That is a seriously funky jacket!! Great work! It looks so cool! I love the Sam the Cat story. I have cross stitch from when I was really young and I have to having up too! I love seeing it. What a lovely start to your crafty journey!!! I’ve made the Heather and I would totally recommend it! Xxx
Ah thank you Rachael! 🥰. I think cross stitch is such a lovely accessible craft. I absolutely need to get the flipping Heather blaze made, I’ve been talking about it for long enough!! Yours is fab ❤️
Thank you so much! Yes I think it would be lovely but l also think perhaps a simpler jacket might be better ie the Ilford as there are so many components to the shorter Sienna which could go wrong 🫣😂
First time I’ve seen this jacket made up. It looks amazing in your striped fabric. I am looking forward to seeing your version of the Ilford. I’ve almost bought that soo many times 🤣🤣 I do have the Heather baker though and have plans to make that up this summer. 🤞 I love your cross stitch cat. I bought a simple cross stitch kit at stitch fest for a friend who’s having a horrid year. She’s now tackling a much bigger kit. It’s amazing to see the power of creativity - it really can be life changing 😍
That Jacket is lovely. I have liked that pattern for a while. I think I would use a button and buttonhole to fasten the inside and do a short tie with the D rings. Hot flashes require a quick exit from clothing. 😃
I’m mesmerised by your top, it’s gorgeous, the grey one with the flower really lovely too, have just downloaded the pattern and whizzed it up in a 10 which is fine but quite fitted which I think looking at Tammys fit it is supposed to be but I think I will size up for my next one, thank you once again for pattern recommendation 😊 jacket is fab too btw Xx
Really love the style of your sienna jacket. Looks lovely on you. I think I would want to wear it done up too. I do like the look of the shorter jacket too. Getting stuck into sewing I find is a great way of focusing the mind when life throws us curveballs x
I think the collar and lapel is beautiful on that jacket and it would look so good with buttons instead of the belt! ”Double” buttons like a classic wool blazerif you know what I mean. Then it would look lovely worn open as well. Thanks for sharing Sarah, as usual very informative and inspiring ❤
Hi. Thank you. Yes I think the collar etc is beautifully drafted. I agree it would look better with buttons but my goodness I would be terrified to attempt buttonholes in this fabric! 🫣😂. I’m going to see how I get on with the belt for a while. ❤️
Your jacket. You could put belt loops on the side seams so as you have it undone, the jacket is open but the belt is tethered. Or, you could make an inside pocket for the belt to sit in.
Ah yes thank you I definitely think that belt loops would help, I think I need to wear it and see how I get on, but that is probably the answer instead of shoving it in the outside pocket! 😅
I love your jacket. I have that pattern. I must get it made. I'm really looking forward to seeing how your denim jacket turns out. Have a lovely weekend ❤
Ah thank you so much!! Yes definitely give it a go, but watch the fit around the shoulders etc. someone else has mentioned that in the comments here. Hopefully I will enjoy wearing it ❤️
The jacket is fabulous and the fabric is perfect for it. You did a wonderful job on it, it is beautifully finished and it fits brilliantly 🤩 Your precious denim fabric is lovely and reminds me of marbled denim jeans I had when I was a teenager and I adored them and wore them to death😂 Are you sure you don’t need a pair of jeans in that fabric?🤣
Ah thank you!!! Your jeans sound amazing!! I did consider jeans, but I think a jacket will be with me for longer, and I want to wear it as much as I can (when I finally get round to making it! 😂). 🥰
Love this jacket on u, fab job. U need to wear it now and not let it rot away in your wardrobe lol I have done that with so many makes. Go for the heather blazer soon u will love it. I’ve made five and will still make more
I understand going thru tough times and needing to get into the sewing again. Im not a fashion sewist, but I am a quilter. Have lost my quilt-jo recently because of stresses and my long recovery from an accident. Today, I actually got back into it😊, it did help a lot. You are so right on the need to do something creative. I liked the jacket belted. You are very talented. Im a new viewer. Going to subscribe. Love that printed denim. Very unusual and super cool.
Hi, thank you so much!! I am so pleased to hear you have got back into sewing after all you’ve been through. Really hope it helps lift you and take your mind off things, it certainly works for me. 🥰
Ooo nice make, it looks fab on you but I see what you mean about wearing it undone. What do you do with the belt? And yay to having an Ilford in your plans! I can't wait to see your version, I know it's going to be gorgeous 🥰
Ah thank you Ruth! The only place to keep the belt is to shove it in the pocket! 🫣😂. Not the most practical solution. Yes so looking forward to finally tackling an Ilford!! Thanks for the Ilford inspiration! 🥰
Love that jacket! I wonder if you could put a couple of belt loops inside the jacket to tuck the belt away ’in a pinch’ If it got warm out and you needed to open the jacket? Thanks for sharing it. I would be very interested to see the short version made up
Thanks so much for the rundown on the Sienna Maker jacket. It’s on my pile of future makes. Good call on the belt. I think that’s what was making me think it wasn’t a summer make although it is a lovely style. I’ve opted for a Sew Liberated Sylvan jacket for a summer jacket.
Hi Sarah love your jacket. I made the long length a couple of years ago in cotton sateen with a bit of stretch. I also did the shorter one in denim, but it didn’t suit me at all. Finally took your advice and made the Wendy Ward Derwent trousers brilliant pattern. Thank you.
I made that jacket 4 years ago and have worn it twice. The belt is impractical in real life and the jacket is so big in the arms, shoulders and chest it is sloppy looking on me. I even tried shoulder pads to take up some of that extra room. Yours looks better fitted but don’t waste good fabric on another one.
Ah thank you, that is helpful, it’s the arms shoulders and chest where I also found the excess fabric although I have sort of managed to take it out. Next on my list is definitely the Ilford jacket as I think I’m after a shorter one. I’m determined to try and wear this one though!!! ☺️
Hi, What fabric did you make the Mia out of? Only on the requirements it suggests fabric from 6% up to a 20% stretch… I was wondering if I should still size up if I was to use 20% stretch. It looks great for hiding those bra straps 😏 xx
Hi, yes it is brilliant for bra straps! I would say that my fabric has about 15 percent stretch. I would definitely hold up the pattern pieces on you before deciding, honestly I think it’s pretty small, although I do have quite a full bust, so I guess that makes a difference!! I always make a toile using fabric I’m not bothered about. Good luck!! Let me know how you get on 😊
Oooo love that fabric (both) the stripey looks gorgeous.
Awww precious memories of your nan and Sam 🤩
Ah thank you!! ☺️
It’s really nice Sarah .. wear it with confidence x
Ah thank you!! ☺️

Love the jacket
Thank you 😊
Super jacket and crop top. ❤
Thank you so much! 😊
Sarah your jacket is GORG!! I actually really liked it open also. So beautifully made as always. 😍
Oh thank you so much!! 😊

Ah that’s lovely to hear, yes I totally agree that we all need to get lost in a craft at some point!! 🥰. Thank you! ☺️
That Jacket is lovely. I have liked that pattern for a while. I think I would use a button and buttonhole to fasten the inside and do a short tie with the D rings. Hot flashes require a quick exit from clothing. 😃
😂 yes that’s a good idea, there’s a lot of belt to wrap around… 🫣😂
The jacket looks great on you. Very flattering fit and length. I made my second Sienna with a one button closure- just a thought….
Yes that sounds like a good idea, thank you!! I’m going to see how I get on wearing it with the belt and whether I decide to make another one. 🥰

Ooh yes it’s a good one isn’t it! I’ll definitely be making more of those while we have the warm weather!! Thank you. ☺️

Thank you so much, yes I have really appreciated being able to use sewing to take my mind off things recently ❤️
I think the collar and lapel is beautiful on that jacket and it would look so good with buttons instead of the belt! ”Double” buttons like a classic wool blazerif you know what I mean. Then it would look lovely worn open as well.

Great vlog as always love the jacket closed but know what you mean about it open but it’s a great sew well done ❤❤
Thank you! I really like the jacket, so need to see how I get on with wearing it!! 🩵💙🧡
Look very good🎉
Thank you!! ☺️

Wow five Heather blazers! I have a feeling I’ll be the same once I make my first! 😂. Yes will definitely get some wear out of this one. Thank you!! 😊
Great to see this pattern made up & to hear your thoughts on it 😀
Thanks so much, I’m so pleased to have finally made it! 😂
Jacket is beautiful 😍
Thank you! ☺️

Ooh the Sylvan jacket is a new one on me! I love the collar, it’s a bit different isn’t it? Thank you!!
@@sewsarahstyle Yes, lovely collar, I also love the way you can choose your pockets. Can see those being useful for other projects.
Hi Sarah love your jacket. I made the long length a couple of years ago in cotton sateen with a bit of stretch. I also did the shorter one in denim, but it didn’t suit me at all. Finally took your advice and made the Wendy Ward Derwent trousers brilliant pattern. Thank you.
Thank you!! I bet it was lovely in a stretch sateen. Have you worn it much? Ooh so pleased to hear you’re enjoying the Derwents, a classic!! 😂🥰
Sadly not much, too hot for summer and too cold for winter, blooming British weather!
The jacket is beautifully made as always but I’m not sure that it is the best style for you.
Hi, thank you!! Yes I have to say I probably agree with you, I’m definitely going to try and wear it though after all the work I put in!! 🫣😂🥰
I think your jacket is lovely. But I can see how you would really need to wear it belted. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you! Yes it’s definitely better belted, just a shame it’s attached! 🫣😂
Hi, you look great in the jacket, love the fabric and color, but the belt might annoy me after a while! Thanks for sharing.
Hi, thank you!! Yes I definitely agree about the belt, but I will give it a go and see how I get on. x

I love the jacket. You could go down a size and not add the belt.
Thank you, yes I definitely would size down next time. 😅
