I enjoy cruising. But every cruise I have been on has some pluses and some minuses, or areas where it delivers and ticks all the boxes for me, and other areas where I wish or prefer they did it differently. But on balance, it works for me. I am so impressed though, by the posts from the VV various residents on these Backroad Tourist videos, that apparently VV is completely perfect, exceptional, maybe even better than that. The gal running that show knows what she’s doing. She has a lot of experience and she is on the ball. If they get through this first year, I think they will be in great shape.
@TheRemyRomano Very recent experience would prove otherwise. She was in charge of Operations and in charge of the renovation and that was a fiasco. 4.5 months long instead of the ludicrous 3 weeks VV said it would be in an April 30 press release and $10Mm over budget. And she said the pools & hot tubs would be fixed before the Caribbean (they should have been fixed in dry dock) but they still aren't fixed today. No, she doesn't know what she's doing and she doesn't have the requisite experience to be doing the lead role she's doing. She should be at a managerial or VP level with plenty of people above her supervising her and overseeing her work.
I do not think that if this ship is going for a year, that’s gonna mean that it’s turned the corner because it doesn’t fix the problem that there’s not enough money in the budget and in the affairs to run a cruise ship on the long-term, especially one this old that needs so much work
@@georgettenorth2776 on any regular cruise, the passengers would definitely not be thinking about this, but these guys are sailing with Villa Vie and unfortunately, on that line, they have to worry about this.
Good to know. But certificates of operation should be expected. Or they can’t continue to visit ports of call. So it is a pretty low bar to set that they get these in the last hour. Were there inspections and standards upgraded? Or was it just a matter of application and payment?
I suspect it was an issue of not having enough money because all the other problems appear to be based on that. And the fact that occupancy is so low and pricing is so low I cannot see any other reason.

Good News but do not get in front of the real issues. Polar ratings are simply not going to happen and the US and Alaska certifications still present a challenge.
