Eidfjord - August 2019

Innerst i Hardangerfjorden finner vi Eidsfjord. Med flotte hoteller, campingplass og omkranset av majestetiske fjell ligger tettstedet der og tar i mot turister fra buss, bil og båt. Det er mellom 50 og 70 cruiseskip anløp årlig og de får en fantastisk innseiling gjennom hele Hardangerfjorden og den fantastiske naturen som omkranser den.

At the bottom of the Hardangerfjord we find Eidsfjord. With excellent hotels, a campground and surrounded by majestic mountains, the village is located there and welcomes tourists arriving from bus, car and boat. There are between 50 and 70 cruise ships calling annually and they get a fantastic entry through the entire Hardangerfjord and the fantastic scenery that surrounds it.

I wonder what that circle of rocks in the foreground, partly in the water, is about at 1:11. It shows up on google earth, as well, (rather blurry), so it's been there for awhile. Is this a tidal fjord, or does the water stay at the same level? I ask because it looks like it is connected out to the North Sea. Oooh - I see the kayaker out there. I would sooo be on that water in a kayak - just stunning!

This is one of our big fjords. Hardangerjord. It is directly connected to the ocean and is some times visited by whales in different sizes. I don't know what that rock circle is about, but it has clearly been put together by people. The tidal difference here is about 85 cm.
