I HATE it wenn die pull the "rope" like that through the rattle. I'm a truckdriver and this way they are a tougher to open. Put it from the top to the floor through works so much better.
The boat from Hoek van Holland to the UK you tie it down yourself on 2 steelcables that are on the floor, works fine.
Thanx for the reply to this vid before i linch the person who nears my HD.
It seems that the crew put the rope/ratchet on the bike... I presume they leave it to you, to undo it ? Is there an easy way to unfasten it ? I remember going by ferry years ago & I had a hell of a job undoing the ratchet .
In our case the Crew also released the rope.
I believe there are two nippels witch must be pressed....
@@LifeisjoyNLsign me up for pressing 2 nipples
That is not a good way to do it. It's not enough for rough sea.
Feal sorry for the kick stand
Hi, I am going on a ferry on Friday. Did the ferry crew provide the foam pads? Or you bring them? I would hate to see anyone tie down my GS without foam...
This time the foam was provided by the ferry crew but mostly they don't provide the foam.
Enjoy your trip.
Do not under any circumstances accept this method of securing your bike on a ferry. A large wave will topple your bike. Myself and several other riders had to find this out for ourselves in a recent crossing from Portsmouth to Santander. You have been warned.
I would lose the plot if someone strapped my bike down like that. Over the saddle with that much pressure on the ratchet? Not a chance in hell. Im going to zeebrugge in two months and im taking a three point rear wheel harness and a canyon dancer across the bars and Ill be using 4 retractable ratchets to secure it and doing it myself. Wont be trusting any of those chimps anywhere near my bike

:-) Yep the best way is doing it yourself.
Thanks to the foam between roap and saddle everything worked out fine.
Thanks for your response.
There is no way in HELL are they ( The ships workers) tying down my bike when i travell over FACT.
