Just repaired my old esx-1 recently. Super excited to have it up and running again after it sat broken in storage for around a decade! Thanks for the vid! I had only figured out one of these tricks myself back in the day. Also your performance at the end is great! Nice set brother!
Hey, that's amazing; congratulations! Thank you for the kind words, and check out my ESX playlist on my channel. There are lots more unknown tricks and hacks in there. :) Also, if you send me an email at SnowMetalUniversity at gmail, I'll send you a bunch of ESX packs and project files. Thank you for watching!
Wow. I am truly impressed with your performance using just the ESX. I've had mine for years and can barely wrap my head around what you're doing in that video, but just wow. Feel like I need to watch more videos to rediscover and tap into what all my ESX/EMX can do!
Thank you for the kind words! If you send me an email at SnowMetalUniversity at Gmail, I'll give you some resources. Also, if I can help you in any way, please let me know. I appreciate you taking the time to watch. :)
Wonderful, so much performance with so little features. Btw. ESX users who think this takes a lot of manual programming: you can program just 4 steps, and repeat them using shift+2 (+dial)
Wow, thank you so much. Genres are funny, because I've always made this style of music, right back to the late 90's, and my roots are really in industrial and reggae. All these years later, I'm still not entirely sure my music fits into a solid genre, and I'm still undecided about whether "dubstep" is even a good name for a genre. Lol! Thank you for watching. :)
@@danieklerrdude, TH-camrs like you gave me a lot of inspiration when I was down and out. Don’t want to overshare, but I was in a bad, bad spot and watching some guys I could relate to and look up to helped me out quite a bit. Glad to say, life is amazing now. Keep on doing your thing
Thank you for the tips and inspiration. Seriously! Been watching for years and finally I'm getting to where I want to go with my sounds via ESX & EMX. Been awhile brother, bless!
Hello.. I appreciate the words of encouragement. It's also fantastic that you are enjoying your work on these machines! If you record anything good, I'd love to hear it. Thank you for watching. :)
I like the blend of personal life vlog and music. Makes you a personality and not just a tutorial voice or teacher. Id actually be interested in hearing more about your 'new to you' mercedes. I'm actually shopping for a good family car right now. Was looking to try the GLK350.
Nice! This isn't my first experience with Mercedes Benz. We drove an E300 when the family was much smaller, and it was a very strong vehicle with few problems. I'm going to get an all-points inspection soon, with oil change and lube, and I'll let you know what I find out. Thanks for watching, once again!
@@petert7807 .. Dang, dude; I wrote a reply and it's not here! Lol.. I must have forgotten to send. Anyway, CONGRATULATIONS! I love my Benz, and it's been reliable so far. I did have a squeaky ball-joint pop up. Pro tip: Always source your own parts. The repair place hates it when you show up with your own parts, but they won't turn down the job. The dealership wanted $275 for a pair of ball-joints, but I found them brand new with warranty on Ebay for under $35, shipped! Enjoy your new ride. :)
@@danieklerr No problem. Is there a place I can purchase all of your ESX presets and templates? I love all of your tricks and "hacks" man. Really has opened up my mind, I got the ESX (Blue) and SX (Red) as well as an older ES-1 MKII... I love the metal enclosures and how easy it so to make music on these things lol
Hello.. I had the very first available ESX (in America) in 2004, and I'm still discovering new ways of working with it. A newer version (not the ES2, lol) with updated specs could outshine every groovebox ever made, in my humble opinion. Thanks for watching! :)
Thank you! I can recognize the language of most comments, but I had to use Translate for yours. I've never spoken the Czech language in my life. Thank you for watching, Vážím si tě!
Thank you. I spend a lot of time processing and preparing them. All of these sounds are coming with my next huge sample/pattern collection, but if you send me an email (in the description), I'll send you some really nice drums. Thank you for watching. :)
Thanks Daniel! I've just received my Isla S2400 and the first thing I did is put the output into my ESX. I planned to freshen up on your videos, but it looks like you've out them together into a best-of. Dope! Still wondering about creating a circuit to plug into the tubes as a tubeless output option, in case you ever decide to look into it again.
Hello! It's been a while, thank you for watching. Incidentally, this week I put major effort into the tube-bypass circuit limiter/expander. I'll keep you posted. :)
Hello budy, how are you? Great video... I will receive my electribe in a few days and I would like to be able to put my samples in place of the factory samples, is it possible? Do you recommend any tutorial on how to do it? Obs i dont have a sd card...thankssssss
Hello.. Sorry for the late reply. It seems I had a lot of comments on this video which I missed in notifications. How are you getting along with your ESX? The answer to your question, which you probably already know, is YES, you can replace the factory samples very easily. To import a full set, or even individual samples, without audio, you will need a memory card and reader. Thank you for watching!

Well, aside from the first one, which is more of an unknown/ignored feature, the others are unique ways of using the machine, which was not intended by the designers. I confirmed this in 2010 at a Guitar Center demo, when the Korg reps themselves informed me that I was a "legend" (their words, not mine) at the Korg R&D department, and that the ESX/EMX designers themselves never dreamed the unit could be used in these ways. Thank you for watching! :)
This machine has an incredible sequencer and a really fun workflow. The power supply for both the SM and SD card units are quite strange, actually, and are hard to come by. Anyway, good luck and thank you for watching. :)
@@danieklerr Oh for sure... I remeber a decade ago when they were still affordable and all my friends would run the individual outs through pedals and rackmounts, switch out the valves, run audio into the external input... I feel like Korg lost track of the charm of these things with later models!
Yes, Korg lost the vision, haha. Still, the Electribe/Sampler are great units and really affordable. I think Korg would have done better to launch them under a different name.
