Sorry mate, it was originally posted 3 years ago and it was a quick job on my daughtesr car so my memory of connector types and how they are removed is vague, in fact as I say in a previous post the job was really just to re secure the card reader in its location so I didn't have cause to disconnect the actual card reader connection.
I am having the same problem as you described, I opened the front got the card reader connected, not properly though and every time I put my card in, it would still say please enter card or card not recognised, so I have to put me fingers through, the lower opening underneath the radio. I have that little tray loosely fixed so that every time, I get into the car. I can pull it free very easily, I would have to put my fingers in to support the card reader, and then pull the card back bit by bit ,and push start and I eventually hit the point where it would start but now it won't even do that, how much is it to buy a new card reader ? and is it possible to put one in from a second-hand car and use the card from that same car, hope you can help me in any way at all, basically , I can't drive my car I have access to everything but it's just not reading the card ?
Bob you said, you took on the job yourself, where did you purchase the card reader, also after you fitted the card reader did you get a new card with it or did you use the same card that you had previously and if it is a case, that you did porches it somewhere, can you tell me where it was and how much because, as my previous message says, I pretty much have the same problem a little bit different but the results at the end would be the same, if I could get a new card reader I just wanted to know do you get a new card with it or is it necessary or whatever I'm really stuck bad mate
The problem with the daughters reader was purely mechanical i.e the reader had become detached from the facia and fallen inside. I didn't have to replace the reader just relocate back it in it's proper mounting! Sorry I can't be more help.
Thanks great help. Have this job to do tomorrow so was looking to see how easy it was going to be.
good video. I'm never getting a car with a card reader again, nothing but hassle.

Paulo. When you have the card reader fascia detached from the main console as per the video the plug for the card reader a readily accessible
