Robbie Dupree joins the Yacht Rock Revue from home for this live version of "Hot Rod Hearts." Directed, produced, edited and mixed by Nicholas J. Niespodziani.
WOW 😮😮😮😮 finding this late , like 3 years later and HOLY SHIT i cannot believe how AWESOME Robbie sounds here, some 40 years later after this little gem was released. And the band is soooooooo tight!!! That playback is radio worthy ✌️✌️✌️✌️
His voice sounds exactly like it did 40 years and that's amazing as he was 74 in this video. Men usually develop a thicker voice and lose the smoothness of their early days, but this sounds exactly like the original with the exception of the ending ad libs on the original recording. Men typicially lose their upper range by his age (ask Elton John), but his voice in the normal vocal range is ageless & timeless.
Damn ! Thanks Robbie and crew ! First time hearing this was on WKZQ Myrtle Beach, S.C. 1979 and every time I go back down there, some forty years later, that song still pumps from my speakers ! Thanks for some awesome memories Robbie !
AWESOME!!!!! I always thought Robbie Dupree should have gotten more recognition. Here he is, 40 years later, and still bringing it just like the original!!
You know, this virus sucks, of course. However, these mixes of musicians, each playing from their own place, showing everyone on the screen at once is really great. Honest, real musicianship.
Lovely! This song was one of a few at the time the local roller skating rinks played for the couples skate.Girls in fuzzy sweaters, designer jeans and wearing roach clips for earrings were who I sought out….
I remember this playing over the local pool speakers in the summer of 1983 or 84. I remember it being a little harder rock than this. Fuzzy memories, I guess.

This brings back a lot of memories in cars on back roads in high school.
Amazing how close this sounds to the original recording over 40 YEARS AGO!!! Robbie still can bring it and everyone else complemented him perfectly!
This song is and has always been criminally underrated. Phenom rendition! Kudos to all!

I can't believe how great Dupree still sounds.

Robbie sounds fantastic and the music is perfectly tight. Still think the chorus has some of the best vocal arrangements ever!
Nice one - enjoyed this version very much. Thanks
I've not heard the original in (nearly) forty years, this sounds brilliant!
I might love Steal Away, but it can’t hang with this-brill tune!
Damn, what a great job.

Why do most bass players look like long haul truck driver? ? ?
F. Chris that's a good thing, this rhythm section hauls serious butt!

Incredible....still sounds the same...steal away was me and my first girlfriends song....i was in the 6th grade...
I was barely 13, and bought this 45. in the fall of 1980 the best music... you couldn't find a dud.
I have always loved this song, man y’all still just as good as u always was. Just goes to show how age is like fine man. Amen. Rock on.
Brilliant! Starting our own yacht rock band here in the northeast.. this is a damn clinic as we are covering both artists here!
just to think they didn't have auto tune
Thanks for that performance! We had tickets to your Nashville show so this kinda makes up for it. Hope to see you all very soon!!!
It’s 1980 again.
Fantastic!!!
