Bub the Beetle's first drive - AMR500 supercharged 1973 1303 1600cc aircooled VW

Okay, the DCOE carb is not tuned in the slightest but its a sunny February morning and Bub is otherwise ready to road test and run in. Let's see how a supercharged 1600cc aircooled engine feels

I have a 61 baja on a 69 pan. Link pin front end (because ball joints snap)Rancho trans, Kennedy clutch, with super diffs.
1835cc with 120 cam and 40/44 cadrons. My friend has a Manx with a 1600cc AMR supercharger. My baja absolutely smokes his Manx. His Manx also has temp issues when we run them hard in the Mojave. My point is ....just build a NA motor. Have the cases tapped for a full flow oil system instead of this.

You should have a dig through my other videos.
This engine exploded, set the car on fire and nearly took me with it. The design of the supercharger kit was the root cause.
My latest Baja has a 1994cc twin carb striker engine making 130bhp and is suitably entertaining to drive.
I had my reasons for building a supercharged engine and it wasn’t to simply follow the herd. Sometimes that works, sometimes it doesn’t

So what does it pull like, is in low down torque or does it need to rev, thinking about for a 1600 split.

I’m slowly getting the jetting right . It’s bloody quick and very torquey.

It went on fire with me in it …. Major failure mostly down to the poor design of the kit.

How do the oil and fuel lines run to the charger?
And where was the kit from? I was looking to get a supercharger kit
