I've been to Chinatown throughout my whole life. It feels so sad that the state of the community has become in the recent years with businesses closing down. For example, the building at the corner of Ord and Broadway is abandoned and there's no signs of revitalizing it. Same with the store that once the Wing Hop Fung shop at Far East Plaze. So many memories of this place are fading away. I hope there is a way to help the community.
Half the restaurants are no longer CHinese. Oddly I went to a party at the mayflower, and after eatting a huge banquet with lord knows how many coarses and then they got an entire pig to add to, and I stepped out for a sec towards the end of the party and when they ask me why, I ended up returning pissed because I had to bring back several bags of Howling Rays. told them there was no more lines and my sister and father wanted to try them. And I had to bring back for the host as well.
i hear you on that, i was shocked and bummed at the same time when i saw their entire market was cleared out about 2 years ago.. heard they moved to El monte, i even went to check out that location and found out they only lasted maybe a year and sold their market and is now a mexican market, sadly..
The Chinese are apart of California culture as much as everyone else, even in the gold rush up north, they actually help build the economy as we know it, I support my Chinese brothers and sisters. At least some time go and buy something to help support our Cali brothers and sisters. Chinatown must stay!!!
**Alert** THE COUNTY have the nerve to take down the black Beverly Hills sign in Ladera Heights, but allow other cultures to come in and meet Koreatown, China town, Plaza Mexico etc…. SAAAAADDDDDD
I am mad at those who invaded Chinatown and changed the neighborhood. YOu know people who aren't Chinese like Sissy Nga Trinh. THe issue is immigrants who complain about gentrification are the ones who often kicked out some other group prior . I get annoyed at those who complain about rent driving the Mexicans out of Boyle Heights, when they drove out the Jews. We need to tell people these Chicken shops are grandfather in. And if they drive them out. They get kicked out and fined. I was pissed when people moved into new development and complain about chicken coops or egg farms. This happens all the time in California. and ps I am pissed that Sunset is now called Caesar Chavez as well as Brooklyn Avenue, and the old French Hospital is now Asian Pacific alliance or worse been change into something else. Was trying not to scream when Joan the Arc statue is gone.

I stared at the building for sometime.
Mike at Won Kok is a DTLA Chinatown legend in my book.
Recently I visited LA Chinatown and felt so disappointed. It's not like Flushing in NYC at all. Lots of stores run off the business.
Love the shumai pork buns at Lucky Deli and Won Kok! Also the banh mi sandwiches at Thien Huong.
....its just like the 'arts district' down town....its gotten so gentrified the artists that made it cool have been priced out.
I love Chinatown 🥲

Went by there today, the fine folks from south central and Long Beach are moving in thanks to the blue line.
Is that why there was a beating of an old Asian man near the Library of what was sunset.
