I just received my large Otter Anchor Messer and compared it to 60 Case knives in my collection and it blew them all away in terms of quality and overall fit and finish. It blew away my vintage Pumas and Bokers (approximately 150 knives between these two manufacturers). Excellent review. I will be buying more Otter Anchor Messers in the near future.

There is no lock like an Opinel. I love my Opinel No8 very light in the pocket

I collect knives from all over the world. The history behind some of them like the Mercator or the Douk Douk is fascinating.

The teardrop shape handle is like the Taylors Eye Witness slip joints, very nice. I like the wooden handled Otters, never seen a bad one. It's a shame they're selling slowly, they're very good. Otters are fairly common in Europe.

They look to have a little sway back to them, similar to a case swayback jack or a gec 93 pattern

An American maker that gets little attention for some reason is Moore Maker. They are out of Texas, and seem to be pretty decent quality.. They aren't cheap though.

I’ve only one of these, but it’s superb. When Paddy saw my video, he bought his the same day. Yes, they’re great user knives. Paddy and I are both old sailors, stainless steel and brass makes much more sense. Also Paddy’s rank in the Royal Navy was Leading Hand, the badge for which is a kilick anchor, which the same type of anchor represented here. Better than Case for fit & finish, but perhaps not GEC. Of course it would make no sense, living in the UK, to buy one from you, but I certainly recommend them! Here’s my video:
