    I worked on one of these years ago for a friend. It had suffered a lot of neglect but it was still salvageable. After many hours of work I got the tractor to the point that it only took a quarter turn of the crank handle and it purred like a kitten. Seeing the look on his face after he started it for the first time was worth all the time I spent laboring over it. One of the hardest things I had to do was remove a broken bolt on the exhaust manifold that had an easy out broken off in it.

    Thank you for sharing!! My dad had both the WD and C back in the '50's and through the mid '70's. My nephew who has the farm now restored the C tractor. I believe dad bought it in 1950 and the WD in 1950. The farm is in Holland Vermont.

    It's a good looking tractor. The previous owner will be happy to see it back together and running again.

    Sorry about the hydraulics. Enjoyed watching the series. Got me motivated to rewire my Farmall Super AV. Thanks.

    The wrapped steering wheel is a good idea. Mine is so thin I need gloves to even grab it.

    Really beautiful job. The long drag blades are nice for driveways because the tractor going over bumps doesn't recreate the bumps. You can run a PTO mounted pump and an external hydraulic system until you can go after the leak. They also make pumps that drive off the distributor for live hydraulics, and that can be set up externally as well. Be sure to video it in action as well.

      Thanks. Running a PTO pump is an interesting idea. I may look into that.

    Nice looking tractor. The original fuel lines were steel, so I have been known to use "break line from the parts store to replace solid fuel lines.

    Years ago, I put a lot of hours on a WD and a WD45. You might get a smoother start using the hand clutch, especially in the higher gears.

    Very nice! You got this together quickly! My grandpa has two Allis Tractors for are 45s of different years. I’ve never used them much but the new one he has sure had a fast road gear! Maybe I’ll add an Allis to my collection one day.

    You could try to put some rear main sealer oil additive if it sat for a while without hydraulic fluid then the seals will shrink but what rear main sealer does is swell up the gasket again so it wont leak anymore it might not work but it is easier to add that than to split the tractor

  • @ap1687

  • @mikefuhrman458

    you can run the same fluid in the trans/rear as the hydraulics on these old tractors.

    Another good video, and your attention to little details is outstanding. Sorry about the leak, these old used tractors always seem to have a fly in the ointment somewhere.
    As for the ergonomics, remember when on one of your earlier videos for this AC, I mentioned I didn't like how the clutch pedal was position? I also mentioned how one sits low in the seat? Did you find that also?
    Thanks, again for another great video series.

    • @AntiqueCarsandStuff
      @AntiqueCarsandStuff  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't feel like the seat is low ... well, maybe just a little. It's pretty comfortable for me. But, the clutch pedal does seem far away (and far to the left). It isn't a big issue for me because I am tall. I can manage it. However, I think a shorter person would find the whole setup a bit uncomfortable. :)

    There's a little known fact that if that bolt breaks in the seat , you could possibly die if you're pulling a big harrow

  • @tractorsold1
    @tractorsold1 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    It's not such a big step when you have the drawbar or an implement attached. But yes, that clutch pedal can seem like a reach.

    Dear Tractor companies why don’t most of you find an old lorry Frame or even rebuild a brand New Lorry Frame to build stronger and better Tractors and put those Scania N113, Volvo B10M, Volvo D10A, Volvo TD102KF, Gardner 6LXC and Gardner 8LXB Diesel engines and put on all of those Leyland Hydra cyclic Automatic 4 and 5 Speed Gearboxes for those stronger better Tractors so they can still use them for any farms and even use them for the Mechanics so they can even lift a broken down Bigger Buses and also lift all of the broken down Lorries, why don’t you build 6 and 7 seats so that other passengers can sit at the back and front including the driver. You can still build those four small stronger medium sizes wheels and still make them even more useful for the Mechanic farm tractor than it still was before, please can you do those exciting idea’s for us tractor Lovers.

    I understand the gasket between the lift and transmission is about an inch higher than the two castings to keep the oil in the lift area. Did you use rtv to make the seal? Great job on the tractor. I understand all the areas use 30 wt.
