I remember avoiding GAMMA because the repair system...now i prefer it because I love to struggle for a good weapon and makes me appreciate it even more...great video by the way
The best part honestly is scrounging around and say if there’s a big firefight if you have that mod enabled where friends get mad for looting their kills makes it even harder
A good tip is that parts that you can remove by field stripping can be replaced on a gun without a workbench / toolkit. You just need to drag and drop, but the condition on the gun will reduce slightly.
Something that isn't widely known is where to find the crafting kits. The drug making, gun smith, basic and advanced can all be found in stashes in what is considered low level areas, anything below red forest. Expert tool kits however ONLY have a chance to spawn in stashes that are in red forest and above on the map. This had some people thinking the spawn was broken because they were not venturing deep enough into the zone and getting those stashes.
I've been struggling in GAMMA over the last few hours trying to not die and how to get better weapons etc....safe to say this video set me straight on the right track..good stuff.
Finally, now I understand where I was going wrong with crafting and had no idea that parts increased 'condition' of your armour... solves so many issues I was having as I just couldn't upgrade my gear
@@codyharrison9693 - I think I found out about it from reading it on a loading screen. Thankfully I read it pretty early so it wasn't an issue. Thank you, the health/healing system in Gamma is so convoluted. Even for someone like me who has been a veteran of Anomaly since Last Day, i still hop on Gamma and say to myself, "am i doing this healing system correctly?!" And i guess that confusion is down to me not being a veteran of Escape From Tarkov because that seems to be where the healing system gets its inspiration from.
I wish it was more like Tarkov, but it really has nothing in common asides from having separate HP for parts and limbs. Tarkov doesn't have the temp and post heals mechanic.
@@MintyLime703 my only wish about the tarkov mechanic is the inventory magement, hell yeah i wanna see that inventory inside stalker but probably is very difficult to do
Really? I started playing stalker around 3 years ago and have no issue with the health system. It's so damn easy dude...... Get into crafting, especially in gamma, then you have valid complaints lol. Literally read the tool tip for healing, there is a buff value in health, that you need to raise, then make it stable by using proper healing meds. Not hard..........
One important thing to note is that not everything is worth crafting. A basic headlamp for example costs like 7k on max difficulty from sidorovich, which will take you much less time to get than all the parts for its crafting recipe. Also some meds require ingredients that are rarer that the item you are trying to craft, its really weird honestly.
And one might think "I can save money by crafting it instead of buying, I just need to find X, Y, and Z." But on your quest to find X, Y, and Z, you'll use food, water, medical supplies, ammo, suffer weapon wear and armor damage... Time spent just existing costs money, so prioritize what you spend your time on. Buy once, cry once.

Thanks for this video, legit i didnt know that u can actually just replace parts. This is really insightful for newcomers into stalker like me. The post-heal for limbs is super helpful, i always thought the only way to heal the limbs is via sleep, but now u can combo the pills and bandage which is super useful when u have longs hours before u can actually sleep or drown yourself in vodka 🤣🤣🤣
I am absolutely addicted to GAMMA right now, but a few things were a bit enigmatic and frustrating until now. Sadly, I had sacrificed a super good (?) weapon for it's barrel (the DVU or something short and semi automatic in the Mosin caliber). Going in mostly blind and never playing any stalker before made this mod a really special experience.
Thank you for this, I figured out everything except how to repair armour. I would always find an armour around 20% and then just use it until i found another one, the crafting tip has been a gamechanger, for so long now ive had radios etc marked as junk because i didnt know you could craft
A well explained video. Though I do find repairing armor is borderline impossible. All armor I disassemble gives me parts that are in such poor condition (the majority are at 1%) that they’re useless. Unless armor parts are 60%+ (may be higher), they cannot be repaired, or at least I cannot find any item that can fix them. So 95% of armor parts I find can’t be repaired, and I can never find the needed armor parts for sale at traders. I don’t mind the scavenging aspect of GAMMA, and have no trouble repairing weapons, but attaining good condition armor parts is so insanely difficult that I just turn GAMMA economy off in MO2. It needs to be rebalanced. If there was an item I could buy that would allow me to repair very low percentage armor parts, it would be different, but I can find none.
The goal with armor is to replace as many parts as you can with better condition ones until your armor hits an overall condition that's repairable by a repair kit. The threshold is very low, if you have an armor repair kit, putting 30-40% condition parts in your armor is enough to hit the threshold to use a repair kit for the armor. And as the parts in the armor "repair themselves" when you repair the armor overall its very cheap and easy compared to weapons to repair an armor.

Currently playing Anomaly and wanted to check out Gamma - but from what I see now, I won't. Stalker's strongest suit were the atmosphere and story. These mods have replaced it with a grindfest, taking 90% of the game now. I am either wasting time on a poorly designed crafting/repair system or walking from one side of the Zone to the other to surrender a quest. For the crafting/repairing, UI and parts design (which is terrible right now) could help a lot. As for running around all the time, either making guides to already uncovered locations free or have quest givers only give out quests in their specific region, maybe one adjacent. There is a beauty in a game being difficult - but there is no beauty in grind. It is not difficult, it is just time consuming for no valid reason.

I'm one of those people who gets called to the zone about every year and a half, pick a mod, lose a couple weeks after work to it.
Anomaly was the last time... I said I wouldn't go back until Stalker 2...
I SAID I WOULDN'T GO BACK SO WHY AM I WATCHING THIS VIDEO WITH THE GITHUB OPEN ON MY OTHER SCREEN!?
