Another tip: plan your purchases around the banlist. The banlist comes out every 3-4 months, and the best decks (and possibly best cards) will get hit. Consider not only what might get hit when building decks, but also if a good card was recently reprinted. Both baronne and borreload savage were banned after their printings in rc1.
Marincess is a great example of a budget deck with enough flexibility to it. I've been playing it for a little over 2 years now as I don't have the money to invest in many other decks. And the deck is really cheap. Most expensive card I saw was Marincess Dive at about $8 or $9 CAD. Everything else is under a dollar. And because the deck itself only needs a total of I believe 16 to 20 Marincess cards, the rest of the deck can be filled with what you want and need to compete. And thanks to the rarity collection getting staple hand traps that have use in every format is way easier then before. So yeah, Marincess is a great budget options, personal recommend.
I pulled S:P Little Knight from playing Age Of Overlord box set tourney... I then traded it for Vanquish Soul Jialong because I knew I wouldn't pull him and no one wanted to sell me the fucker. I knew it was stupid. Still did it. I also got a QCR WANTED from said packs as well though. I sold that at least but couldn't use any of the money for fun because I had to pay medical bills from getting a foot infection.
Takahashi was a genius but he doomed Yu-Gi-Oh players when he said he wouldn't want players to receive money prizes as his death wish
