  • Not much information on this clip... yet! It sounds like Randy was teaching Blues Bass to a student and went a bit off the rails!

So amazing. If this was on a blues album, it would immediately be considered a top effort by whoever recorded it.
Imagine Randy playing blues with Stevie Ray…..

That would have been so awesome. Now that would’ve been one hell of a show.😊

As much as I have always put Randy in the number 1 spot for my favorite guitarist, SRV would take him to school on the blues. But it would have made for a real good show. It is just because the blues like SRV played was like Randy having to learn a second language. Randy was more classical in his interest and style, which was put into rock, at the time it was metal. SRV was the exception for his style too. Both were touched by a divine spirit.

OMG!!! This made my life, not my day!! I am in complete awe in how this young man, what, was he was maybe 20-23 when he did this, knew his fretboard that well! That is just amazing. I am blown away at his talent. He was my favorite the minute I heard the first song with him with Ozzy (crazy Train), and 40 years later NO ONE has taken his place. I love many other guitar players but no one has captured my attention or my heart like Randy.

This was recorded on Randy’s brother Kell’s tape recorder. Kell and his band were in studio recording. He was quite high at the time and left the recorder running when they were done. Randy and his band went into to rehearse. Kell realized later that Randy got recorded.

Thought this was recorded by a Steve? Was at Musonia for a bass lesson, Randy sat in with him, shredded over his bass line

Great clip! There's no question that Randy's primary rock guitar influence was Jimmy Page. He would have been a great fit with Page on a post-LZ solo project ala Peter Green w John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers.

He’s playing the blues but it’s Randy’s own stamp on it Anyone can mimic other players and play their stuff note for note but it takes a real
Talent to have his own style I’ve always loved Randy but this was amazing Imagine if he had good equipment too…his amp was junk and in one taped lesson I heard he even said he wanted a Marshall but couldn’t afford it so he had to make due He still made it sound great

      Randy was so great,
What an impact he made only doing two albums. He’s my absolute favorite guitarist in the world.
      Mad skills🎸💙🎸💙🎸💙🎸💙

@@ShannonreneesHe did 4 albums. 2 with Quiet Riot, 2 with Ozzy. The first two were not a major label though and I think were not released in the usa

This is definitely randy. He was teaching a bass player some blues and was riffing over top of what he was doing. You can tell it’s him from the guitar playing, but also his voice where he tells him in the beginning “alright let’s do this slow please”. Dude was phenomenal in all types of music
