American Odds Explained: How Do American Odds Work?

American Odds are most popular in the United States. Working differently for favorites and underdogs, they’re also known as Moneyline Odds.

If you’re new to sports betting, the odds are usually listed in one of three ways: American, fractional, or decimal. American odds work a little differently to the others.
The odds for a favorite team to win the game are usually listed with a ‘-’ sign, which indicates the amount a better would need to bet to win $100.
For the underdogs, the odds are accompanied by a ‘+‘ sign. This shows how much a better would win if they staked $100.

It's only good if your betting $100 but if your betting $15 or $20 its gonna get confusing, decimal is more easy to understand at any amount.

Environmental Chemistry isn't hard to understand either if you spend 5 years in university. Your system still doesn't make much sense. Basic decimal odds is way easier to comprehend. Odds 1.5 - ok then I get 50% of by bet back regardless of how much I bet. 2.00 = 100% or twice what you bet.
America do use this in some sports - like when you say its a 25-1 odds - which is just odds 25 meaning whatever you bet your payout is 25 times your bet.
