Is this the same as a 2002 OB LL Bean alternator? Mine is pumping out 17.1v. Also, can I upgrade my alternator to put out more amps? I've seen the higher output ones, but they are expensive.
let me ask you, when i did a timing belt on my Subaru there was a lot of compression on right side of cam wheels . so the question is when you timing belt would you remand removing the spark plugs to relieve compression .
+Christopher Ohara no. Has nothing to do with it. When all timing marks are inline, some cams are under tension from the valve springs That's why it's hard to turn.

I bought a battery from Subaru dealers with a clear window it was clear when I got it but now. It's black and I can't see inside should I replace the battery it's maybe 3 years old
+dtec30 a replacement alternator is $390 from Subaru or $185 from the parts houses. The reason I rebuilt this one is because remans from the parts houses don't last. I've replaced 3 remans already.
What a terrible setup. Those parts should be removable without all that take-down. I liked the Bosch alternator with the external brush/regulator replaceable with the alternator in place.

my alternator is different. 95 wagon. i broke the plastics on the inside when taking it apart

Oh really no I was referring to the wreckers here in oz it's generally about $60 for a part off of a wreck

How do you know what type of alternator I have my 3rd generation bh5 carries 3 engine worldwide 3.0L, 2.5L and mines is the 2.0L from Japan.
