    Love the idea of using a plugin on one slot of a drum rack, great way to integrate samples and plugins into one nice simple kit instead of a bunch of individual tracks in a group. A lot of these tips seem so obvious once you say it, but I would never think of it on my own without this context.

    Great job on the drum mixing. Feel like you got the punch, and smoothness at the same time !
    Question. If you have drums that need some smack, would you then use a transient shaper to increase attack, and then parallel compress them with the compressor having a slower attack and release ?

    lool afrobeat producer here, this is an amazing tutorial but this isnt exactly afrobeat its actually island dancehall i only got to know it was dancehall because I leave on an island where this is their style of music

      Got it. And yea the genre takes on a lot of different directions. Thanks for watching

    • @Ik.Fwego.
      @Ik.Fwego. 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is Afrobeats, bro. Nigerian Afrobeats producer here, and this is Afrobeats/Afropop. There are other influences in the production, but this is modern-day Afrobeats popularised in Nigeria.

    • @Hi_Ceejay
      @Hi_Ceejay 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Ik.Fwego. lol nigerian afrobeats producer too, but this isnt Felas/west african style afrobeat, this is island dancehall influenced

    • @Ik.Fwego.
      @Ik.Fwego. 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Hi_Ceejay Contemporary Afrobeats doesn't even sound similar to Fela's Afrobeat, you know; the genre with heavy James Brown Funk and American Jazz influence. This production has few influences, but the primary style is Afrobeats/Afro-pop, not Fela's Afrobeat, but contemporary Afrobeats.

    • @Hi_Ceejay
      @Hi_Ceejay 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Ik.Fwego. I'd respectfully like to disagree, contemporary afrobeat is the groove style of runtowns "mad over you" Mr Eazi's skin tight and Tekno's Pana, that Ghanaian Rim rythm and double conga hit, I live on an Island called Mauritius and the baseline and drum pattern of this Doja cats woman is directly ripped from Mauritian, Seychellewa and Rodriguan songs (no disrespect to her as I really love her song)I also used to call this style afrobeat but a mauritian friend of mine corrected me in 2019, showed me the differences and their influences, check "sky to be - Dodo Baba" and "Kaya's Chant L'amor" and you will hear exactly were the baseline and drums were sourced from and the Island style of music
