The reason this is so scary is because we can all relate to our phone running out of battery on late night when the whole city is under constuction and everyone has no night life and abandons the streets.

I really like the idea. Too many horror games now a days have the monster outright kill you or attack you in some jump scare. It's nice to see a project where it builds the tension and it all works out fine. It's like an indie horror breath of fresh air.

I think the reason there wasn't any "danger" is because it's something that happens in real life. You could compare it to the home invasion kind of stuff in the sense that it's possible to happen to you any time.
I personally find home invasion kind of stuff and being on the streets alone at night really scary. Could be because I don't easily feel safe, but overall I really enjoyed the way this game was made. Gave me the chills

I actually really like how this game was portrayed. When I saw the concept, it made me wonder why in the world I hadn't thought about this sooner as a realistic horror game. Walking home at night is extremely paranoia inducing, and to have it end with nothing happening is such a mirror to how that usually goes. I walk in the dark, always feeling jumpy and on edge, and then get into my home and go, "Whew, nothing happened, why was I worried?" I think the game mirrored that scenario quite well, even if, like all games, there's room for improvement. The sewer steam in particular seemed weird for the tension building, but eh.

Scarier Ending: The game starts with you texting your friend, saying you're lost and need directions. They slowly give you directions to their house and you think you're being followed. At the end, you get to the house... Only to reveal that you murdered their friend and were using their phone to get directions to your next kill. Your 'fear' was paranoia at getting caught.
Scariest Ending: You rush to your front door to open it and realize you left your keys at your friend's house and your phone's dead, and you either get to walk all the way back or sleep on the front step.

Scariest ending: you get home and nothing happened, there's no invaders or murderers. You breathe a sigh of relief before it hits you that the most exciting thing that's happened to you in years was walking home in the dark with literally nothing bad happening.
As you get ready for bed it sinks even deeper in that that late night walk will be a point of reference in time for you, because your life is so mundane and routine-driven that such an event is extraordinary enough to use as a milestone for the year.
As you climb into bed you try to remember the last noteworthy thing to happen to you, and realize you're not sure. You know stuff happens, but time is basically a blur to you. That Christmas party you got talked into attending, was that last Christmas or the one before that? Or even longer ago? You let out a deep sigh, because even if you knew the date it wouldn't matter because the way your perception of time has warped it might as well have been last week and ten years ago all at once.
You know you need a change in your life, you're wasting away at a job you hate to pay off a mortgage you can't afford to live a life that no longer has any luster. But where would you go? How would you earn enough to survive? Would it even make you feel alive again? You briefly toy with the idea of buying a van and living on the open road, but quickly shudder at the thought. The uncertainty of such a lifestyle fills your very core with dread. No, mundane or not, there's security where you are now. Misery, yes, but security. Security has lulled you into a place of fear and complacency that you will never be able to leave.
As you roll over in bed and try to banish such grim thoughts from your mind, it happens: you remember that time you said something stupid and made a fool of yourself in front of your peers years ago. You can tell this one's gonna haunt you for the rest of the night. Oh well, what's another night of lost sleep?

As dumb as this sounds, these are my favorite videos of yours. These playthroughs of small, indy horror games. Good or bad, they're my favorite games to watch you play. Stuff like this and even the old RPG Maker stuff. (The Crooked Man and all those.) I just enjoy these a lot more than the more polished AAA or even B-lister horror games, at least when it comes to watching you play them.

But honestly when a series is uploaded, it doesn't really hold my attention, mostly because they aren't scary, like re7.

Wasn't expecting nothing to happen at the end, what with disappearing late night mystery jogger and the creepy whispering. I figured the lights would go out at your house or that jogger would be waiting inside to get you or something. Kinda like the whole theme around it, like the player hyping up the danger in their own mind while a friend sends unhelpful texts.

This game really does have a lot of potential. Not to mention in real life people do really have a fear of walking alone home or walking anywhere at night. I really like it when horror games and even some horror movies actually prey on very common fears. (Not too cheesy though; like giant spiders and shit)

I remember last year, it was 10 PM and I was walking home from a friend's house after I was dropped off by a bus. The area I was walking was so eerie, dark and quiet. When this feeling suddenly came to me that someone was watching or following me. And I looked back to see but there wasn't anyone. I guess I was just being paranoid at the time. Then I got a call from my mom asking me where I was and told her I was on my way home. When I finally got home, she ran up to me saying she was worried sick. I'm never staying out until late at night again.

You kinda learn a lot if your a late night wandering person. You learn how to hide great, even though your not doing anything wrong it's always good to hide when you see a car coming down the road or something

  • @ajscott920
    @ajscott920 7 ปีที่แล้ว +143

I think the point of this game is the fear of walking home in the dark. You don't need to die or have someone follow you. Also this happens a lot and it's some people's greatest fear. Also saying you never walked home in the dark would be a lie from anyone unless when you was to young to drive you always had someone pick you up and drop you off. Which also proves the point that either the person is scared to have you walk home alone or you were. Also the people in the background could just be a random jogger, out for a late night walk, just got out of a bar (drunk walking), etc.

It’s dark, there aren’t a lot of people out, and the people who are, are weird and intimidating. Yes, if it’s three am I’ll call a Lyft or Uber, but still. This game plays off of a very real danger, and to me that makes it scary enough.

Very relatable game. It think it would be sweet if there was like a 1% random chance of being attacked on each playthrough. Or maybe several possible random events would be even better. So then people would get a false sense of security until someone actually got that 1% roll and dies, and it would create hype as well as increase replay value. It would go along with the realism of this game and the whole point of it.

the creepy old spanish lady said: "trata de arrojar perlas a los puercos" - try tossing your pearls to the swine. I google it and it's taken from Matthew 7:6
"Do not give what is holy to dogs, and do not throw your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you to pieces."

I liked it too, I would have thought maybe when you saw the fog and your house up ahead and found out when you could sprint you could run to your house and when you look back see someone running behind you just to give it that sense of "HOLY SHIT I AM BEING FOLLOWED" and was fully expecting to see someone behind you when you looked back, so was a little anticlimactic when there was no one there... I don't know, I would have liked something like that, or running to the house, locking the doors and stuff and looking out the window and just seeing someone walking away under the street lamps or something, just a little spook at the end, nothing over the top or anything like that because I think that would ruin it, but just a nice little "Oh damn, there's someone there" before ending would have been a great touch.

I thought the game did a great job of allowing the player, and even audience members, to create their own fears. I think the ending re-enforced a notion that the greatest fears are those we create for ourselves. Also, it was refreshing to not have to collect pages/glyphs/whatever to avoid another copy/paste jumpscare monster.

What a friend Emma is..don't get murdered. hehe.
A neat little game, the idea is there. What could of been an idea at the end, like John said about you walk in the door. What about you want into you home, close the door. (and your battery had one bar left), your phone buzzed again, and you get a text from Emma, that says "It was me" you turn on your lights, turn around and she's sat in your living room.
I don't know, just me thinking anyways. It was a nice little game that could have more idea to it, it more real because as some points in our life's, we have walked home at night, so this kind of puts you on the edge.
Thank you for the awesome uploads John. Keep up the epic work.

I think this game gets you more when you're someone who had to go home late at night. I've been in situations in which I was coming home late, the street was pretty much empty, and my imagination played tricks on me. The moment I got home, it was like the best goal achieved in my life. For me, this game gets that feeling pretty well.
Also John, where I live there are parks that have no night lights and look like the one in the game.
