I own a pair of brown peccary leather gloves with cashmere lining, and I truly wished I discovered and learned to appreciate these materials earlier in life. Before that, I could not imagine gloves to be that flexible and soft on the inside and outside.

Really enjoyed this one. Nice and concise while still packing in lots of interesting information and so making for an informative watch. Props to the scriptwriter and to Nathan for his excellent delivery. Top stuff.

I have a pair of shoes that are a combo of Peccary and calf. They are incredibly comfortable and soft yet very tough. Would love a pair of gloves in peccary.

Channels like this educate the general public to appreciate the finer things. I remember asking myself why a Mercedes Benz and my wife pointed out the subtle differences in attention to detail. That appreciation is what separates the cream from the whole milk. Keep up the great work. 👌

The are bred and farmed, like all mammals. ( As in terminology). Birds are bred and hatched from eggs and are still farmed. (as in terminology). Hatcheries only deal with eggs and chicks( ex, mass productions als chicken, turkey duck in Asia etc). I am the proud owner of a vintage pair of peccary gloves.

Fascnating! They are cute little beasts! I would not want to be the one who has to skive all the Peccary skins!
Great video. The Peccary leather looks like it has a fabulous hand feel (Lol!), but I just don't particularly care for the texture. What's wrong with me? I love buttery soft leather!
    Thank you gentlemen!

Hi GG! I’ve been watching your videos for quite a while and my girlfriend is loving the changes in my attitude and presence because of it, she is curious if there is a channel similar to yourselves that goes through the ins and outs of classic ladies style, etiquette, and dress? Yet another great video keep up the good work!

    Thank you for the info!
I picked up what I believe to be a skinny woman’s peccary belt at a thrift shop for $3 USD. I’m definitely smaller than the average adult man so it seems plausible there was a hide large enough for this piece. I think it has another layer of another leather, possibly napa. The 3 pore clusters are only on one surface of the belt but the belt is incredibly soft and supple. I compared it to the sheen and 3 pore pattern imitation peccary and one side is definitely peccary
From what I can gather, not only is it difficult to make a belt because of the size of the hides but it seems like peccary is thin and while it has flexibility for something like gloves, it sounds like some thinner pieces would have too much flexibility for a belt.
I also wanted to ask about shaving - does this mean that gloves are not full grain because they would be too thick?

We're working on a bunch of things but Covid hasn't made product development faster. Also, we don't just private label something from a catalog but truly design stuff , which takes more time. Stay tuned for some collar bars and socks in the next few days, but then more new product lines in the new year.

Thank you for an excellent and informative video. I was thinking about ordering a pair in the Dents sale, however the fact that Peccary leather is matt and it will take on a patina as it ages has put me off them. I will stay with my regular gloves (hairsheep etc) which can be restored to as new condition with some leather cream.

Here in Arizona, wild pigs who look so much alike in this video have been known to attack Ppl, & dogs. Not even wildcats or bobcats want to mess with these wild pigs that are called: Javalinas. If U should see a pack of wild Javalinas, turn around & walk the other way.

You’ve heard the expression of course it fits like a glove. My question is what should a glove fit like?
I have a pair of Peckary leather gloves, and I have smallish hands, which means that I often can’t find gloves which fit.
Do gloves need to hug the contours of the hand to the point where they need to be peeled off?
I feel like I have some room in the gloves. Do you think a leather worker could take them in like a piece of clothing?
Lastly I was thinking about how I could make my gloves touchscreen friendly. Is there any way to accomplish this without compromising the glove?

Much more biased than usual. Using the price of the gloves as an analogy for the price of the leather is disingenuous and misleading. The price per square foot could have been used here, but you chose not to do so. $30-60 for your average dress gloves is a funny statement, when your own store sells lambskin gloves for $170-190$, which is close to how much peccary gloves made in Peru for example would cost. The other $100-200 is the markup for convincing everyone that peccary is the best there is.
A few years ago this business was transparent with how much your items cost and why, but now you are pulling wool over the eyes of newer inexperienced viewers, by cherry picking information to make your products look better than they are, both in quality and price.

    • @unconventionalideas5683
      @unconventionalideas5683 ปีที่แล้ว +5

Well, also because it costs something to make it outside of Peru, because not everywhere has Peruvian Labor costs…

"$30-60 for your AVERAGE dress gloves is a funny statement, when your own store sells lambskin gloves for $170-190$". The Gentlemen's Gazette's gloves are nowhere near AVERAGE. "The other $100-200 is the markup for convincing everyone that peccary is the best there is." No - that markup is called a profit, without which The Gentlemen's Gazette would cease to exist.

@@dandiehm8414 30-50% profit margin? Give me a break. The store might not be able to exist without the website, but the opposite is not true. If they didn't shill their own store in every video, they would just sponsor other items instead like every other channel. I have no moral qualm with them doing this, but the way they are doing it is exceedingly anti-consumer.
In every video on other brands they complain about how their material sources or quality are not listed, and yet they do exactly the same thing.
