We had these up in State College PA until earlier this year....I preferred them over the C40LF's they had. Nice thing was we had some open roads so we could actually hear the bus get into the 6th gear, which is pretty cool.

NYC does not utilize the Jake Brake in any of their transit buses, we use retarders instead
that sound is a blow off valve like you hear in a car with turbo
