That grave stone a pure white very nice others are just black or grey marble stone lol but anyway very nice of you to share this to us never heard of him, he does comedy with his puppets. Thanks Paul have a super Sunday.👍😎📸
I recently visited Sir Matt Busby and L.S. Lowrys graves in Southern Cemetery, Manchester. Lowrys grave had a pot full of paintbrushes which was a lovely sight to see
I’ve been to those also. Lowry’s is very understated, as I think he is buried with his parents, but the paintbrushes are a lovely touch. Quite a few famous graves in Southern, including Tony Wilson the TV presenter & music producer.
I met Ken Dodd many years ago at a Christmas service at Liverpool Cathedral. He was sneaking out with his tweed coat over his head, i said Hello Ken mate sneaking out are you yeh' he said certainly young man, And shook my hand as he was leaving. He was an amazing Comedian and lived in Knotty Ash all his life, when he could have lived anywhere. "A Real Scouser" RIP Ken Dodd 🙏🕊.
My sister and I went to the Theatre in Wimbledon to see his show. After 21/2 hours he left the stage and we thought that was it. He had several times made comments that you won’t be saying that when you are still here later. Thinking it was the end of the show my sister and I and several others got up to leave. That was when the theatre staff started giving out papers with the times of trains and buses later that night, so, we sat back down for the second half. It was after midnight when he finally said goodnight and we made our way to the car park, hoping our car was not locked inside. Fortunately it wasn’t. A great show. We hoped he would come back for another show. Sadly it wasn’t to be. 😢 ❤❤
Eine tolle Geschichte. Er war sicherlich ein großartiger Mensch und wu derbarer Darsteller.Ich habe schon einige Videos von ihnen gesehen und finde sie alle einfach super. Dankeschön 1👍🤗
I loved Ken Dodd…he was hysterically funny+I loved his version of Happiness…I sing that to miserable people who are rude to me as I plod along in my wheelchair!!! He was an all rounder with his tickling stick, his Diddymen, Knotty Ash stories…he was a wonderful entertainer!!! I never met him ( only on the telly ) but I did love to watch him “ How tickled I ham!!! “ being one of his favourite catchphrases!!! RIP Ken!!! You were one of the best!!! X🙃❤️🙏🏻✝️
Most beautiful and lovable voice. Until today i still play More Than Ever, More than love, So Deep is the night, Tears etc while driving to my office.. thank you for amazing songs, Mr. Dodd... Love from Indonesia.
I had the pleasure of seeing Ken Dodd at his last ever concert in December 2017 he was an amazing performer and a lovely man. I lived 5 minutes from his knotty ash home up until last year. I was absolutely heartbroken when he passed, we will never see anyone like him again 💔
I saw Ken Dodd at the local social club for my 18th birthday. He got me up on the stage and sang to me. Before returning to my seat he told me to call him "Uncle Doddy". To this day I always refer to him as Uncle Doddy. He was a very funny man with a huge heart and warm personality. He is missed so much. R.I.P Sir Ken.
I Recently Bought a Ken Dodd CD For My Dads Birthday, I Listened to it with My Dad Because That was the First Time, I'd Listened to Kenn Dodds songs, and my Favourite Ken Dodd song is Happiness.
loved ken Dodd but those diddymen used to give me nightmares. He did have a wicked sense of humour. Once again a great video of one of the comedy masters thanks Paul x
ken dodd was a very awesome comedian am sure that he spent most of his time in the stand up career and he did films aswell as the tv i am sure but i may be wrong :)😮
Remember him dearly. As his namesake I used to be called a diddyman at school. And the amount of people asking where my "tickling stick" was :) Thankyou for a respectful tribute to a wonderful man.
Thanks for another informative talk and look around,.. we saw Ken on stage only once and having many of his cassettes - thought we'd know all his routine,. but no,.. it was all brand new material,. clean - hilarious gags and stories,.. a true entertainer.
Love this I walk past Kens house daily taking my dog for a walk and walk over the jam butty mines. Remember seeing him in the early 70's Christmas panto and later on doing his adult show he never finished on time always ran over time. My Uncle was friends with his brother who was a bin man. R.I.P Doddy
Saw Ken Dodd twice and both times we went in the theatre in the day and came out in the night ,he used to run over,my mum loved him ,my dad drew a picture when he died and it was attached to his gate on all videos and news programmes ,we are so proud of this fact .My sister met him just before he died in hospital and said he was lovely
I have to admit I wasn’t a big admirer of Ken, but I was given two tickets to see him in the early nineties . I was in mind wether to go or not but decided, yes I’ll go I might enjoy him. Enjoy him I did ! He was such a funny man and had me in stitches! He went on for ages with his show , over running for at least and hour. I went to the first showing and when I left, the second showing people were queuing waiting in the cold. But believe me, he was worth waiting for. So forgive me Ken for not liking you all those year before, and thank you for cheering me up that evening and making me laugh so much.🙂
I saw Ken Dodd on stage in Bradford at St George's Hall around 2013/14. He was great. He got the audience going, funny and it was a good night. An excellent singing voice
My parents treated me to see Ken live at one of his performances in Aldershot for my 50th birthday; I'd been pre-warned that it would end late. No swearing, nothing rude, Ken was a true comic genius who just loved to make people laugh. RIP Ken, a true comic genius
A true stand-up comic made you laugh your head off with no swearing or filthy jokes like some of the so-called comedians of today rely on to get a laugh. One of the best and such a shame also one of the last great entertainers to grace any stage or theatre. Ken Dodd made millions of people laugh; he was certainly One of a kind and the world is worse off without him. Thank you Sir Ken for all those years of laughter and happiness you gave so many people for so many years. I have lived through your era and it was a great era to live through; it has been my pleasure to see you on many occasions and experience firsthand your great talent. R.I.P.
I think the words, "Tickling Stick", or "Feather Duster" are what you were searching for 😃. I loved Ken Dodd, especially his singing voice, it had a pathos that used to make me cry. My friend's Mum saw him on stage many times, he used to go on for hours, sometimes it was 2am or 3am when she got home. She used to go and see him after the show, she said he was wonderful. We shan't see his like again. Thank you for this post.
My comedy hero. Saw him the year before he passed for the final time in Southport. Started at 7.30pm and finished at midnight. He sold millions of records, knocking the Beatles off the top of the charts. There will never be another Doddy.
I saw Ken when he came to do a show at the Corporals Club at RAF Valley, Anglesey in 1987 when I served in the RAF. My group of colleagues, wives and friends were seated at 7pm, he was due on stage at 9pm. However there was no sign of him at that time, we thought it was a no show but his pianist/organist was there and said he was on his way. Unbeknown to us all, he was famous for stopping off at pubs on his way to venues for a quick pint. Anyway at 11pm he arrived and came on stage at about 11:20pm, needless to say everyone in our small club was canned up by that time. But he came on stage and did an unforgettable show. He didn’t finish until around 3:30am. After the show, he stayed around till about 4:30am signing autographs and chatting with people that had stayed. He was then whisked away by his chauffeur! A thoroughly nice man sadly missed! I remembered him well from my childhood in the 60’s and growing up, he was always “there”.
Awesome mate, I'm based in Liverpool and see myself as adopted scouse and to see you visit these graves is awesome, your take on them your information and you keep a memory of these icons alive
Hi Paul, thank you for this video, I loved Ken Dodd and he came to my city of Wolverhampton many times. The duster object was known as his "Tickling Stick". RIP Sir Ken and thank you for the laughter. Take care Paul.
This graveyard is literally 15 mins from where I live in Cheshire I must go and have a look one day. I pass there 4 or more times a week, walking the dogs in a nearby wild Park, Clarke Gardens. Beautifully covered as usual Paul .
Ken Dodd is another memory from the past remember when my mum was alive used to watch in instead of his jokes and when I go to Liverpool Lime Street station always come off-line street is got a statue Ken Dodd and Betty Brant it’s called chance meeting is tickling stick and she’s like point in brilliant thank you for sharing that take care keep safe all the family drive carefully 😊👍
Greetings from Saskatchewan Canada. I recently subscribed to your TH-cam channel because 1) I have a morbid fascination with celebrities who passed on and 2) I truly love British music and comedies, which your channel touches on both of them. Granted some, if not the majority, of the ppl who have passed on that you have covered I have no clue who they were, which isn't meant to be insulting at all. It's just here in Canada we didn't get most of the tv shows that aired in Great Britain. We got some, but not all. So when I browse though your uploads I can't help but at times to scratch my noggin wondering who these ppl were, which in turn educates me on them when they were alive. That's probably one of the best things that I really like about what you do. In essence you're helping those, like me, to gain information on some amazing and talented ppl that a few might know about which can turn them onto their craft when they were alive. So thank you Paul for doing what you do. I'm a fan of your channel and find you to be a terrific guy who really enjoys bringing these stories to the folks out there. Cheers mate and keep up the good work. From Jerry.
One of the best and sadly missed, He could have you in stitches for hours, reeling jokes off one after another. A one off, there will never be another again. Happy memories, rest in peace...🙂👍🏻👍🏻
I was lucky enough to see Ken Dod in the mid 70's in Scarborough and my dear dad with his weak bladder had to keep getting up during the performance and ever time Ken was on him in a blink of an eye and peppered my poor dad with his skilled one liners! I believe the show finally stopped at around 12:15 am and as a ten year old it was almost magical ✨️
Makes you realise that we lived in a great generation of talented comedians. Greatly missed, nice to be reminded of them. Thanks again, keep up the great work.
Happiness is his legacy. no foul crass or shouting , just good honest from the heart comedy from a genius comedian who loved and was loved back form the people
Ken Dodd fantastic entertainer never gets old his act the best, hope his dear widowed wife ok as he got married before he died so sad for his dear wife now without him
I remember going to see him at the Futurist theatre in Scarborough many years ago with my mum and my friend. We were hysterical with laughter. I also loved An Audience with Ken Dodd. That had me in tears with laughing. God, he was a very funny man. God rest him. Thanks for another great video, Paul. 🐾😃
How tickled I am to watch this video, Paul! I grew up watching Ken Dodd on the telly; his tales of Knotty Ash, the Diddy Men and the Jam Butty Mines were hilarious! Not a lot of people nowadays know that he also had a lovely singing voice. RIP Ken 🕯
Seen him twice. Second time was at a very big private party.. I was looking towards the stage waiting for him to come on and he was standing right behind me. I screamed with delight and got a good tickle with his tickling stick. Great show and lovely man. Thanks Paul. xxx
They certainly don’t make them like this anymore. A true multi talented entertainer. Fascinating listening about his early life and career. Great video as usual Paul. 👍🏻
Not many people you can truly say were a legend but he was he could do a full 2 hour show and really make you laugh he was not smutty or dirty he was funny anyone could watch him .. his tv specials were superb i have some on dvd and often watch Ken dodd made Liverpool proud i adore him. rip Ken.
Sir Ken was one of my favourite stars, I have seen him 7 times during my life and never once been disappointed with his performance, he was a good clean performer, he didn't rely on being smutty or crude to make people laugh. RIP Doddy.
When I was young Ken Dodd used to scare me. I’m not really sure why! I grew up and one day I listened to him on the radio doing a show on Radio Four Extra. I couldn’t stop laughing. So since then I adored him I was upset when he died, he came across as such a lovely down to earth man. Thank you Paul, thank you for showing us where he’s now resting. Another British treasure that has left us, and I’m feeling really old. I don’t think these new comedians like Russell Howard, are any good. They just keep pushing their political views. 💖💖💖
Like you said Paul...the last (sadly) of a true Music Hall Entertainer. I saw him twice at De Montfort Hall, Leics yrs ago. Very funny, witty with incredible stamina to perform for several hrs! Sadly missed but never forgotten
I saw Sir Ken Dodd in 1988 , I tool my children to see him in pantomime Mother Goose hes was superb , he was in a generation when I was growing up, when we had some great pros it was a great time to be alive with people like Sir Ken , Tommy Cooper , Les Dawson , Bob Monkhouse and of course Norman Collier. This country was blessed with real talent back then , thanks for this great video Paul.
Thanks for this, sir! Ken also appeared in an episode of Doctor Who during the late 80s in an intriguing role but got killed off by the villain before he could get to episode two! Most definitely one of a kind, when they made him they broke the mould the very next instant! Wish I'd got to see him live! 🎭🎤🃏🎆
Ken Dodd was one of the greatest comedians the world will ever know. He was brilliant, he will never be replaced. His humour was fantastic. His singing voice was amazing as well. He is seriously missed.
Very fond memories of queuing up for hours for Ken's show on Skegness Pier. First house were an hour and a half late coming out! Brilliant comic Thanks for this Paul

Like you said Paul...the last (sadly) of a true Music Hall Entertainer. I saw him twice at De Montfort Hall, Leics yrs ago. Very funny, witty with incredible stamina to perform for several hrs! Sadly missed but never forgotten
Some people thought a lot of places he joked like nitty ash were fictional but all were real thanks again for another interesting vid
One of the true greatest comedy legends ever and one very great singer and a very very very funny man as well
Ken Dodd was one of the greatest comedians the world will ever know.
Royal Variety shows where great and Ken Dodd used to be on then his Diddy men would come on Absolutely Amazing
