Hey guys, low gear for that kind of stuff, the higher rpms of low gear makes your clutches spin up, your clutches have a fan built in so the higher rpms creates more air flow thus keeping your clutches cooler
Great video , glad you understand the low range , high is killer to belt drives when going slow , I got a 950 with 2600 miles and never slipped the belt a single time , you gonna love it .
Was interesting to see exactly what driving in high gear at low speeds for too long will do to the clutch. Sucked for you, but it was nice to see to learn from, thanks for posting it!
Good job. Not sure about being in high range was the issue though. It shouldn't over heat like that. May have been something to do with the clutch kit setting. Love those CF MOTO'S!
I think it was the combination of the new clutch kit,the 30” tires, being in high gear, and the heavy heavy wet snow we were in, and me basically going full tilt for about seven miles. Had I been in low like the owners manual states, I probably would have been fine.
Have the same setup on our 800 and 1000uforce. Blake talked me into it, the 1000 look pretty sweet. Still waiting for it in upstate New York. Great set up for winter riding. If u still need a little more bite ice cutters in those beefy lugs help out so incredibly much even in dirt or rocks and trees. They hold pretty well also, we still have most of them in since last year and rode all summer.
I had a bead on my 400ex that fought me like that. Tried bottle jack to the bumper of my truck, running it over, everything i could think of. I finally went to the tire shop too.
All belt drive atvs/utvs will have belt or clutch issues if you hold them wide open in deep snow for more than a few minutes at a time even in low. When we ride in deep snow we take lots of breaks to cool the belt down, you can touch the belt cover and check the temp, it will get very hot after a few minutes at full throttle.
Absolutely! This is great advice and I definitely learned my lesson. I rode 900 miles in Arizona recently and checked my belt cover often. I will definitely take it easy in the snow in the future.

Maybe the larger tires also play a factor in the increased belt slippage in High.
You can definitely run it in high still with this setup. Just not in the situation I was in. I guess I didn't make that clear enough in the video. It's because I was running in high at such a low speed with so much resistance from the deep snow.
