    I watched this film nearly 20 years ago on BBC1. The most memorable part for me was Jim Dale's line at 03.36 and the way he and his friend looked at each other afterwards. Very moving scene and really emphasised the grim reality. Same goes for the final "cut away" scene with the radio presenter voice-over.

    I love that film.
    This footage really shows the massive change since the early days. Its also useful footage oof the short time when 9017 ran with a SE&CR tender. Thanks for posting!

    Poncy Brit officer's I wander if they are still around? My family has WWII, Korea and Viet vets and not one of them had a good word about them ...But had nothing but praise for the British soldiers.
