Because she's a serious actress and wanted play something more complex than a comic book character. In interviews she has mentioned that her favorite books were the British classics, the Bronte sisters, Thomas Hardy et al. Not exactly comic book fare. Then she got Chuck and the role in the 24 hour follow-up and the Dexter character. I would not wish a Bond girl role on any actress (they tend to be a career killer) and although she would have been PERFECT as Captain Marvel 9 (a much nicer and more thoughtful person that the person who got the role) this is a much meatier role that got her an Emmy nomination and sets her up as an actress who can play serious role's as she ages and is no longer an ingenue. But if you have ever seen her hilarious SKYPE interview on Nerd HQ 2016 you know that she is funny, witty, charming, sexy (actually quite bawdy), and really sweet. And you know that she should be cast in a full-on romantic comedy (something she came close to in Chuck, but has never really done). Her role as Sarah Walker in Chuck proved she could do anything on screen. This role, as Serena, just confirms that. She has a nice marriage, a young son - and considering what her life could have been - her parents fled Communism in Poland - I could not be happier for her.
@@doublee3886 Nice sentiments, but since 'CHUCK', which rated very poorly, other than 'The Handmaid's Tale' nothing going forwards has really impressed. Rosamund Pike's career wasn't killed after starring in a Bond Movie. A Bond movie puts you on the world map and the fact Yvonne starred in 'The Predator' tells me Yvonne will grab any role that comes her way! Yvonne would be the perfect Bond girl/villain. Given her acting talents Yvonne should be doing much more with her career!!! Not sure why??? Yvonne might be a late bloomer like Amy Adams :)
@@doublee3886 I think she was in serious contention for Captain Marvel. But Marvel eventually picked Brie. Also serious actress? Projects means she's getting paid. She isn't an A-lister yet so she can't be choosy. And she did The Predator and He's out there, those aren't 'classy' movies.
