    Great info on the diff change, I’m booked in next week to get my 4:10 diff fitted so looking forward to feeling the difference.

      It’s a great upgrade for the e46 M3, really livens up the gearing 😎

    Thanks for the video, very helpful. I love your Recaro, can you share the specs, brackets, heating, passenger sensor for air bag, etc? Where did you source them? And is the Recaro black nappa a good match to stock?

    • @stoneautomotive
      @stoneautomotive  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Juan, these Recaros are from a Lotus Evora which is very close in terms of factory finish on the BMW - wonderful seat to drive with 👍
      Full details are in the fitting video - th-cam.com/video/Sav8V6_fFLo/w-d-xo.html

    Hello mate, love the channel.
    I have also have a E46 M3 (2002), and i absolutely love it.
    the audio always seems a bit lacking... Is this something you could see into?
    Just some positive criticism , but the audio experience could be a lot better.

      Microphone all set for the future videos, the first part was filmed on my way to have the diff fitted and wasn’t really well thought out ☹️ should be a better experience from this point forward as your not the first to request 👍

    I’ve got a 2004 manual with std diff would it be just a case of buying a 4.10 CPW and getting installed or will I need to get other parts?
    Great vid and the car looks mint 👍🏻

    • @stoneautomotive
      @stoneautomotive  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Should just be a case of bolting straight in but it does depend how worn your diff is, Darragh does a drive in drive out service if your original diff’s worn out.
      Certainly glad I did it
      Thanks, been a 3 year project 😊

      Just an update! Ended up getting the 3.91 diff fitted as thought the 4.10 would be a bit too short also the difference in performance between the 3.91 & 4.10 isn’t massive but the extra cost was so went with the 3.91 and I’m glad I did, the car is insane and honestly should have left the factory like it!! Amazing and one of the best upgrades I’ve done

    Hi, are the 4.1 motorsport gears readily available these days? When I looked into it a few years back, they were difficult to come across.

      Hi,
      Yes I believe you can purchase the gear set directly from BMW - everything M3 can do the complete package 👍

    Hi, Great channel ! I also own an e46 m3. Such a terrific car ! I was wondering which friction modifier you put with your diff oil or you would advise ? Stay safe,

      Hi, thanks & glad your enjoying the channel 👍
      I can’t actually remember what friction modifier we put in now, the oil & friction modifier was purchased from Opie oils so hopefully it will be listed on the website under e46 M3 👍

    Hi,
    I have smg with csl rev matching software on it, would i still have to have it coded afterwards?

    • @stoneautomotive
      @stoneautomotive  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Chris, yes you do - it’s because the gear ratios change the blips on downshift etc won’t work correctly, when I originally looked into this is can cause an SMG error light. Everything M3 can do this for you, genuinely top guy 👍

    Can you give me an idea on the cost for this? It’s not something I’m going to do in the short term, but it’s on my radar once I’ve got some of the more important bits done.

      Hi David, worth dropping Darragh at everything M3 a message as I purchased the Z4M diff used with the 4.1 fitted.
      From my research before hand a 4.1 gear set from BMW is around £700 + fitting

      Hi, it wasn’t myself that completed the conversion but Darragh who fitted my diff was the man who completed the 6 speed manual CSL

      Think you will struggle getting the gearbox remapped to suit as im only aware of ecu worx providing the coding and last time i checked it was only available for the M3
      Essentially it means the car won’t know when to correctly shift/up down in auto mode if you don’t have the software changed

    • @stoneautomotive
      @stoneautomotive  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You would need to contact the company EverythingM3 as I supplied a second hand 4.1 ratio diff and he carried out the fitting - really depends how much work your original diff will require (well worth doing though)

      I honestly couldn’t care.. these days it’s all about the “feel & engagement” of driving for me plus the 60-120 is noticeable faster vs stock, I own an SMG - you think I’m gonna play with that old system and launch control 😅

    To be GENUINELY concerned about 'emissions'. one needs to Manufacture or Own all electric vehicles... (& if gearing is a concern, engine size, vehicle weight etc should also be a concern......because the latter two contribute to an increase in emissions)

    • @stoneautomotive
      @stoneautomotive  5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      I think it’s clear to see emissions is just a government tax special.. won’t be long till electric cars get taxed for the harmful materials used to build the battery’s.. seems like only yesterday the government was trying to convert us all to diesel 🤔

    Great review mate always wondered what the hype about this mod was. couple of question firstly whats it like on the motorway you touched on it slighty in the end of the vid, standard was 70mph in 6th at 2.5k, so now doing the same speed and the same gear is 3k? second question what is the rev match like that darragh puts on it more specifically the downshifting, is there any behaviour like the standard oem on rev match where you'te headbutting the windscreen? as i'd defo not want to go back to that, i have M1carbons rev match and love it, 3rd question what cost are you looking at supplied and fitted i would get this done by darragh as well, your vid and this one th-cam.com/video/JGatkOG9XVI/w-d-xo.html&app=desktop have really got me thinking about this lol,

    • @stoneautomotive
      @stoneautomotive  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Glad you enjoyed the video (apologies for the poor audio - sorted on the later vids)
      In answer to your questions -
      1. Around 500rpm higher in 6th gear on the motorways, can’t say I noticed any real drop off in fuel consumption at motorway cruising speed upto Scotland for the North Coast 500 road trip & it doesn’t sound any louder but I do have a completely stock exhaust system.
      2. Haha no, still drives exactly like the CSL SMG software (wouldn’t have had it done if I lost that feature - stock SMG down shifts are dangerous!)
      3. Email Darragh, he only fitted the diff for me as I purchased the Z4M unit with the 4.1 already fitted.
      If I had to start again with a standard e46 M3 I would 100% put another 4.1 ratio diff in it 👍

      @@stoneautomotive argh man your replys are making me want to get it done even more now haha i read on cutters looking at 2.5k supply and fitted which is a bit strong for me but a call to darragh for the truth would be worth a call i guess, he's not massively far from me either

    • @stoneautomotive
      @stoneautomotive  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Blimey didn’t think it would be anywhere near that retail (I could be wrong as I’ve never priced it all up new supplied/ fitted) when I was looking originally you could purchase a BMW 4.1 gear set for around £800.00 from BMW but guess they could have ramped up the prices
