Please never stop making TH-cam videos, your channel helps me so much. I had problems at BS/FS 180 so this really helped me.

When I was learning BS 180s I found that practicing them fakie helped a lot to get the motion down, and you can still see where you are going "forward". Once I got comfortable fakie I did them normal and you feel more secure turning your back to where you are going.

This is the type of content that has been missing from the youtube skate genre!
Very rarely do u find skate videos with concrete facts and virtual demonstrations of physics, the majority of skateboard videos are just empty, lacking and meaningless, consisting of zero effort while lacking illustrations, demonstrations and innovation, it might just be me, but skate videos on utube feel so black n white.
I really appreciate ur presence on youtube, u undoubtedly deserve a sub from me and millions of subscribers!
Btw ur accent/dialect sounds very cool:D

Awesome video. I like how you described the popping version being closer to an ollie with the legs working with the body to bring the board around. I can't wait to try this. 👍

man you put so much amazing work into each of these video. I'm glad you are making your language a little more digestible. most skaters don't know 4 syllable physics terms ;D
great stuff man keep it up

This trick has been surprisingly challenging for me. Thanks for such a thorough breakdown! This seems like it’ll be really helpful.

This has always been the hardest trick for me. I can't get my back foot off the ground for long enough and I cannot pivot on my nose backside

Aside from proper technique and strength Backside tricks are challenging due to the fact of not seeing the landing, thus it is a mental battle that stops your body from fully commit to

What really helped me was having the front foot more "straight" / parallel to the board, not at a 90 degree angle like for an ollie. Basically the same angle as for a kickflip, but more foot on the board. No idea why this helps, but I landed my first one right after that change of foot position.

Even now being able to flip board and grind ledges with several tricks, bs 180 is still annoying to me, like, I can only land it 150, 160 degree and can't roll away clean. ( I'm popping-board-type) This problem affects my progression on some bs tricks like backtail or backflip. Thank you so much for giving some insights, I hope I can land some more cleaner ones in the future.

This is a trick I’ve had on lock for 30 years but still struggle with switch. I’m pretty sure I’m not alone, cause Sean Malto joked it was his deathblow against mason Silva in batb. Switch is so unnatural, I have to swing my arms so hard… even weirder is that in a frontside 360 it feels natural. (Although, in my old age, I don’t have the pop for it) Love the vids!

I know exactly what you mean. You ever felt FS flip or FS big spin is easier in switch? There must be some sort of science behind it…

    • @jstolls1726
      @jstolls1726 ปีที่แล้ว

@@whythetrick I could never properly fs flip either way 😂 but I know what you mean about switch fs big spin for sure. My very first 540 on a snowboard was fs switch too. Something about the arm swing on any fs switch just feels right…

Bs is easier for me to rotate than fs. Fs landing feels so weird to me. I’m regular and basically I’m just muscling my board to rotate and I stay on top of it but it’s super low and inconsistent af.

Not sure if you remember when I asked you to do something on late flips, more specifically, speculate on the physics for two late flips, well, maybe some day you can, and Jamie Griffin just did one. I knew they were coming, was hoping that at some point you might explore this topic. Here's the video of him doing one. And again, thank you for all the work you put into these videos. They are extremely helpful, and quite entertaining. th-cam.com/users/shortsWdeezx_LxpY
