Thank you for the comment. I am glad people enjoy this video. Best of luck with your purchase. I will soon start a series of videos restoring a 1964 MGB. Stay Tuned. Cheers
Further…. Your brother asked “Should the Fuel Pump be clicking all the time”….. it should click until primed and has filled the Float Bowls it should then stop. Your Brothers question was 100% Valid.
Thank you for your comment. Putting that car together was a real challenge. I cant wait to put some miles on that new engine this summer. Check out the "First Start" of my 1954 MGTF. Began poorly, ended well.
Great Video! I have also a 74 MG just finished rebuilding the carbs, and you are correct your model came with HIF4 originally. If you have the electric fans you will have no issues deleting the mechanical fan, to make better use of the 2 fans you can hook them to 2 different temp switches set for different temperatures. On the door is not hard at all to reupholster them I think Alex (check Alex MGB) has a good video about doing that.
Here is the link to the door disassembly th-cam.com/video/o1K37RsuCa0/w-d-xo.html he has another one on the reupholster but is just a simple task nothing fancy about that piece
Those door cards and top are not original so more likely are part of the restoration, the door top is originally wrapped in black vinyl matching the dash.
Thank you for your comment. As far as the fans go, what is your opinion on where I put the thermal switch. {Top radiator hose} It seems to work great, car funs cool.
You can buy a Vinyl Paint in a Can which works very well….. but most important is to thoroughly clean the existing Vinyl… Just curious… why the Blue paint on several pieces?
To my surprise the tops of the doors were not vinyl, they are leather. I have never seen leather ones before. Re-dyed them black and they came out pretty good, As far as the blue paint.... to tell you gods honest truth.... I wanted something to match the oil filter. (sometimes I forget to take my medication)
Thank you for your comment. To answer your question, Yes! I have thought about it. I had a Weber on my '75 a few years ago and it really didn't make that much difference, plus I didn't like the water choke set up. I am pretty much a believer in the SU. They are very simple to tune and pretty bullet proof in my opinion. If you think about it, That carb has been used for decades. most fuel issues I have experienced were caused by carbs running too rich or a vacuum leak some where else. I do have a set of HIF4's that I will be putting on this car when I get around to it, but right now I am kinda focused on finishing the MGTF I have been working on for about 5 years. So to sum it up, nothing wrong with a Weber I just stick with what I am comfortable with. Thank you for watching. Check out first start of the TF sometime.
I bought my '76 for $1000 in San Diego. It needed clutch master and brake master and power brake pot. Also a new top. Soooo...I go to register it. Then to the Smog shop. Nooo! Sonny!! That there Weber Carburetor is a Modification!! You gotta git yerself some Standard S.U. I could have had a 671 GMC supercharger if I wanted "modification." But a buddy said hey Arizona small towns don't require Smog. So I said: "What is the first town over the line into Arizona?...hmm... YUMA!! It runs champ and it is the only one in town. But HORRORS!! No Curvy Roads!!
@@Robertsbritishcars My brother is up there and has two M.G. Midgets that I always had part in repairing but now "da kid is pretty good at doing it himself. I'm really impressed by your skill, patience, and tenacity. Kudos . . .
What a beautiful car! as a novice tinkerer myself I can only stand in awe of your skill.
Thank you so much. I am glad you liked it. Currently rebuilding an MGTF and a 64 MGB in the wings.... stay tuned.
@@Robertsbritishcars Thank you, I am currently tinkering on an mgb gt myself, and she fired up for the first time a couple days ago.
Another Outstanding video and presentation.
What a nice B. Looks to be in great shape, with lots of labor already done. Just needs a little more TLC.
Enjoyed your video. I’m going to look a 1980 MGB this week to purchase

@@Robertsbritishcars top hose is the hottest part so will kick on early that is not a bad option.
Great video and purchase!
