The reason it was blue, is because they used blue screen up until the advent of digital video. ILM was used to working with blue screen from the original Star Wars in 1977. Good job though!
People still use blue screens but for a different reason now...... I think it has something to do with how color reacts to blue.... But these blue and green screens are stupid, wouldn't a ultraviolet light focused on one beam of light work better and you can use whatever color you want for an outfit without worrying about your clothes being cut out, I'm just saying that's sounds smart... Has anybody ever done that... Edit: Apparently corridor thought of that.... I could have thought of this sooner
I didn't see a comment mention it; they used blue for both day and night scenes as blue screen had been industry practice (blue was furthest from the red and green channels seen in human skin so could be more easily isolated) Green screens did exist and would be used in situations where blue existed in the scene. Later on with the rise of digital sensors green became more common. Digital cameras have a stronger sensor read for green light; as such a better key can be pulled. Consequentially, green screen become more common. Episode 2 was one of the first film to be shot entirely in a digital format. So it sat in the time right before industry practice began to change.
Outstanding work on remaking Obi-Wan's iconic prequel scene! Your attention to detail in both Blender and After Effects truly captures the essence of the original.
The only thing that felt odd in comparison and in general is that you are really stiff while hanging in comparison with Obi-Wan, because in the original just with moving more his legs it gives a lot more life to the scene and doesn't look like a cardboard floating, that was more like a performance issue I think, everything else was superb! :D
Really appreciate that! 🙏🙏 I defintely think the compositing and quality of the original is better, which is doubly impressive since they were creating the tools they needed for the shot versus me not only having reference but far advanced cheap resources at hand!
I have a pretty busy schedule and the week leading up to star wars day (may 5th) was 5 days away and my chance to knock this out between other projects 🙌
Awesome work and cool making-of! One thing that doesn't work for me is the excessive chromatic abberations. In my opinion, this is just unrealistic and a bit annoying.

Great added insight, thank you!

Blender autosave is legend, one of the most reliable I have ever witnessed in software.
Yep and it generally autosaves every 2 minutes. I am yet to have an issue like so many others do who say autosave didn't work.
Get this man hired already 🔥
Fr, he deserves it!

yeah!
I guess this is my motivation pill
Blue was used because they shoot it on actual film stock, green is beter for digital cameras
That CGI looks incredible, especially for it being made in 5 days.
Nobody in the professional vfx industry actually uses the word “cgi” like that, I hope you know that. Just saying
@@gingerdog8203 How should I use it then? Educate me. I did not know that I was using it incorrectly.

no, you see, the way you do this is asking the teacher what he fears the most and then drawing that threatening him if he doesnt give you a 100%
Really awesome loved this!!!!
Incredible work! Love the journey
Thanks for all your hard work to make it happen
U deserve more views brother. Love from India ❤
Very impressive editing, I like your version better than the movie one!

Great video but can you explain the motivation for trying to do this in 5 days??????
I have a pretty busy schedule and the week leading up to star wars day (may 5th) was 5 days away and my chance to knock this out between other projects 🙌
Realistically I could've just put it down and picked it back up when I was free again, but where's the fun in that 🤣
Eu cheguei aqui quando tinha apenas 900 visualizações. Um abraço do Brasil, o vídeo está top! E muito engraçado 😂😂
You're amazing 🤩
amazing work
love it
Incredible work ,,, motivation
that's great, you're doing great!
but in some moments there is not enough leg movement
Defintely agree! That is probably what stood out to me the most when watching the side by sides!
Man, obi wan kenobi really likes just barely hanging onto things
amazing
It's very natural
I want to know how you made the Godzilla spikes glow!
I made a mask to idolate the spikes and applied an animated emissive texture
Thanks!

Also how to you make these videos because they most cost a lot
Incredible work. I would like to try something like this in Colombia. 🖤
womp womp
Wow bro
Hello
Amazing job, I think a little more movements of your legs due to the speed of the machine would have made it even better and realistic
Totally agree! Would've helped sell it for sure
Did you rotoscope the green screen shot
Depended, each shot was different depending on shadow level and complexity
Belum siap apa² sudah heboh rakyat wakanda🤣🤣🤣
