Saying Eminem can't be considered a GOAT of Hip Hop, is like saying Ken Griffey Jr. can't be considered a goat of baseball because it wasn't created by us. Sounds absurd.

Bad comparison lol, you could have said Willie mays, Barry bonds, Hank Aaron but you chose Ken Griffey Jr thy struggled with injuries the second half of his career

@@DMVBLACK The underlying point is the skin color. Insert whoever you want from whichever sport you want. The comparison applies. Bo Jackson was riddled with injuries too...in my book he still a GOAT. Yall really picked the most trivial detail and ignored the main point.

@@stronginthewind it may be trivial (to you) but it’s still a bad comparison. Ken Griffey jr was never considered the GOAT in his profession, a better comparison would have been MJ and basketball. Just trying to help you out lil nicca

In the beginning Hip Hop wasn’t just rapping, it was also break dancing, DJ’ing, & graffiti. That all together was the culture of Hip Hop. Reason Puerto Ricans are included is because majority of break dancer’s & graffiti artist were Latinos. Small minimum were black. It was vice versa with the rapping and DJ elements.

Facts because they wouldn’t give us credit if it was the other way round show me a latino from the beginning of hip-hop album from one of those so-called Latinos because you can’t be Latino unless you’re Greek the word Latino derived from Greek just as well as Spanish those are Greek words so those people are just all the way confused and with that being said, I’m half so-called Latino because my father is Mexican and my mom‘s black, but I was raised around nothing but Black people

On multiple occasions they've made mention that hip-hop is a culture...As someone that grew up in the Bronx in the 80's that saw the birth and growth of Hip-Hop what was the culture or way of life? It certainly wasn't speaking from a point of white privilege. To say that it wasn't race is nonsense. In those times Hip-Hop became the voice of the voiceless. The inner city youth that created something from nothing. Aside from lyrics and break dancing it spoke to the pain of living in poverty. Observing your peers and elders getting caught in the devils sneers. It spoke to what black youth lived through everyday.

Music isn't based on skin color and all on culture. There are hip-hop/rap artists all around the world and becoming one of the biggest genres of music around the world. There are ghettos and people struggling across the globe, that's why they relate to rap music because it was they live every day.
Also, rap wouldn't be what it is today if it wasn't for the consumer. So, to say it's an "african american" thing is total bullshit. These rappers who agree with Dr.Umar should give their money back to fans cause something tells me 60-75% of they fan base aint black. Let's take NWA, for example, the number of records they sold when they dropped they album was insane. If you look up the stats, if only black people bought they album, each household would have had to buy something around the lines of 17 albums per household. That right there tells you that hip-hop didn't just resonate with the black communities but all communities across the board.
Im white and grew up in northern Ontario, Canada. The older generation of the time listened to rock and country, yet me and the generation i grew up with didn't as we couldn't relate to what they were saying. We never grew up in no farms or back road living. We grew up with drugs on the block, everyone trying to get theirs and willing to die over it, constantly worrying bout cops, friends dying over street politics or beefs, whole neighborhoods looking like it got ripped outta the CrackTown movie. With that being said, what music do you think we were going to be listening to, not country, not rock, not pop, not techno, we listened to rap cause it was the lifestyle and culture we knew.
I think a lot of people tend to place rap or hiphop under the "black umbrella" when in all reality its considered part of that struggle culture.
Your skin cokor doesnt determine your culture. Your lifestyle, your surroundings, and your environment determine the culture you are most likely to embrace, not your skin color.

It's whatever. But Dr Umar is sayin we dont hold nothin sacred and everyone else will benefit and exploit us for it, while still makin a mockery as they have been.

Saying Eminem is not a GOAT because he's white is like saying Jordan can't be a GOAT because Basketball was invented by white people or Tiger isn't a GOAT because Golf was invented by white people. Blacks are only 12% of the U.S. population which means Hip-Hop wouldn't be the #1 genre in the world without the alliance, patronage, support and contributions of white people. There were also white B-boys in the beginning. Early on it was the production of Rick Ruben that helped propel the genre and its artist's careers. Artists such as Run DMC, Beastie Boys, L.L. and Geto Boys. At the end of the day Hip-Hop is an amalgamation of different cultures influenced by life in America. Hip-Hop transcends all the labels that keep us divided. There's only one race, the human race. Race or color is a construct that was purposely created by the 1% to keep people divided and easier to conquer.
