@@canadiancontent352 mehrtens* and Bunce was aging along with jones. Hate that jones decided not to play in the 1995 RWC. Then was replaced by schuler and had Kronfield at 7. Marc ellis and Lomu were the future until Jeff wilson bursted onto the scene and replaced ellis
Man what a player!!!!! He just looked like he had so much time on the ball .. truly one of the greats - I first saw him, think it was his 2nd match, against Scotland when he scored 4 tries. Wilson and CC just tore us apart, scoring tries for fun ... but it was so good to watch, even as a Scotland fan you couldn't get upset, you were just in awe of the silky skills and the speed. Still my favourite 15 to this day - IMHO only Israel Dagg even comes close
I called it after this match, CC to be one of the immortal AB's Was fortunate to enjoy a beer with them after the Tri Nations match against ZA in CHC. A very humble fellow and not fully aware of his status at that point in time.
Called it after he scored 3 tries on his debut.. brave call Nostradamus 😆 just kidding - he was my favourite player growing up along with Jason Robinson. Both great running full backs.
My dream team AB 23 1996-2020: 1. Woodcock 2. SFP 3. Heyman 4. Rettalick 5. Whitelock 6. Jones 7. McCaw (captain) 8. ZZB 9. A. Smith 10. Carter 11. Lomu 12. Nonu 13. C. Smith 14. B. Smith 15. Cullen 16. Coles 17. Dowd 18. Brown 19. Kaino 20. Read 21. Marshall 22. Barrett 23. SBW.
He was something very special. The speed with which he could change direction was exceptional. No weaknesses in any department. The best fullback there ever was that was Christian Cullen.
1:00 'The Chiropractor' Brian Lima at his best. What a champ Cullen is to take a shot like that from a man with so many on his list of patients, on debut and just walk it off.
Agree on the 1999 world cup comment when Cullen was centre Wilson fullback can't remember the incumbent centre bk then but perhaps gamble with a specialist centre
This test match has recently been replayed over & over on sky sport. My mates were saying Lima smashes and hurts Cullen & Lomu in this game. After watching it there's a dirty tackle on Lomu and a head high on Cullen from lima but neither were hurt. Lomu, Cullen & Wilson have a field day in that test match. The only big tackle i saw in that game was the illegal spear tackle Lomu does on the big Samoan Lock
There was no monster bs😂😂 just a wrap around the leg and Lomu still drag him few meters forward. Thats why there is no footage. It was nothing impressive like the tackle on cullen
@@jldp24 someone invented that BS and then everyone started reposting it 🤣🤣if you watch the game there was only one tackle lima which is a wrap around the leg and lomu dragged him 2 or 3 meters forward. Its no wonder there are no footage. It was nothing special 🤣Joost vander westhuizen tackle of lomu is what you call a legit tackle of lomu
Lomu, Wilson and cullen backfield was filthy!
Bunce, Mertens, Zinzan, Kronfeld and Jones

They were gods to us when we were young!
Ellis defected to the rival code the following year. Linking up with the Auckland Warriors.
@@khankake9576 crusaders and the blues had a serious rivalry. especially with canterbury and auckland
Cullen brought such joy to my teenage years watching him cutting it up. One of the all-time greats.
Seriously miss him, we'll never have another fullback like him, always looks like hes gliding pass everyone haha.
Hoppa he's my number one, and Ben Smith is right behind.
Beauden Barret is doing just fine now, the question is, who will replace him, hard boots to fill
Allen Housten had a similar game
Man. Cullen ran the sweetest lines.
Best AB fullback ever.
also free Palestine
@@killdriverak6515 my ass. They imprison themselves.
No doubt brother, my idol when I was growing up
@@killdriverak6515 cheers mate👍👍
Was there, Napier if I recall. The Boy was unstoppable, one of the best fullbacks ever to pull on the Black Jersey.
I was there. McLean Park in Napier.
Same
Paekakariki express!! Simply poetry in motion.. Best All Black fullback of all time in my book..
Probably of any team
@@handsomehandsome9854 totally agree!
Shout out to the team that have been editing all these debut clips, it's been a trip down memory lane watching some of these. you've earned a new sub.

Than scored 4 vs Scotland. 7 in 2 games was a dream start.
01:00 Brian Lima baptized him.. that's when he became Christian Cullen.
Illegal these days
Lol.

Cullen, My starting VX fullback💯💯💯🔥🔥🔥👊🏾👊🏾👊🏾
John Hart came up with the stupidest idea of putting Cullen at centre and Wilson at FB for the 1999 RWC, which backfired terribly against France.

Sbw but no umaga either not sure about that one.

Always my first pick at #15 in the World GOAT XV

"Christian walks on water"
So many legends in that squad

Cullen was tough. He took big hits and just kept on going.
CC the best full back ever
Cully, Dan, Richie on debut, just saying.
Cully is my all time favourite rugby player with Dan Richie and Brian ODriscoll following close behind
He was great to watch with bita space.

This All Black had blistering attack and could smell a try when it was coming!
Can you do a highlights of tackles in this game?

How did he get up from the Lima hit though geezus
Toughness lad
how do you get up after getting knocked out?
I think it's from his Samoan side.

Lima never smash Lomu. Absolute bs 😂😂 just a wrap around the leg
Can you please post the full game, apparently Brian Lima put a few hits on Lomu that game
A few hit?? 🤣🤣what game did u watch
Give john mitchell a handshake and uppercut. He bought in mills over cullen
