Russia has held back 2/3rds of their total army and most of their more advanced military equipment. Like NATO, they opted to use up their dated equipment and use kid gloves against a much weaker opponent, viewing this as a civil war rather than an enemy state. After a year of this and growing sentiments by Russians that NATO is trying to turn the SMO into a forever war, Shoigu has ramped up the use of heavier and more modern weapons.

Their nuclear capabilities are 2x that of NATO with updated and fully functioning launchers. In 2020 Ukraine threatened NATO membership and hosting missile sites which added the requisite that Ukraine become neutral meant not only taking the territories to protect ethnic Russians but also the methodical grinding down of the UAF through square meter by square meter, precision strikes, couldrons and fire control. After 2 years the Russians have achieved both and are now going to push the UAF far enough back to establish a DMZ.

Result, no one wants Rouble anymore, even China or India...
