V8 Supercars hasn't had much to do with the production cars for a while now. For more production based racing, I'd recommend SCCA World Challenge or WTCC/BTCC
But overall cheaper to build multiple cars. You have to remember that the Altima doesn't exist yet, nor any of the tooling or parts to build a race car verion. It was all built from scratch. The advantage of a Holden or Ford team is some parts can cross over and their tooling equipment is still relevant. Kellys have had to throw a lot of their stuff away and start again
Simple solution for that, go watch the Australian Production Car Series. Simple reason that racing series around the world don't use production cars anymore is because it is too expensive, take too long to repair and a road car simply isn't up to the task of going racing. Hence why we see purpose built items becuase they are cheaper to run, go faster per dollar you spend on them
Old v8 car was almost $700,000 i think and COTF is almost $400,000. So Nismo spent over $600,000 on optional extras. Kelly Racing will have a sunroof and climate control lol.
Why bother sticking a commodore skin on it??? Never seen a commodore where the driver sits in the centre of the car before!! Make them drive like we all have to and make the cars more realistic to what we drive , like what they were when this category began! There's already F1 and NASCAR to watch if I wanted to watch cars like this.....and I don't!
They should have been using this car ten years ago, awesome!
I couldn't help but wonder, what happens if that fuel cell explodes so close to the driver? That doesn't seem safer to me.

Still same tyres bands and engine size which is a 5 liters V8 and still 6 speed gear box and E85 fule and same Qualifying sessions and race distance
a very good and safety car

Still wondering why the old cars cost so much to build???

I think they got a rubber bladder in there.
