- Happy Mother's Day! For this special edition of "Tattoo Artists React" we asked our panel of tattooers how their mothers feel about the ink under their skin and the profession they have chosen. Many moms lost their minds when they first saw their child sporting a tattoo, while others quickly offered themselves as a test subject for their child with dreams of becoming a tattooer. But through each and every story you're going to hear there is one constant-love.

I sent my mom a text asking "What do you think of my tattoos?" with no context. She replied within a minute and said "Hate them!" haha. 10minutes later she sent another text that said "But I love you!" hahaha.

I told my mom at 18 I would get a tattoo. Immediately against it. I argued I’d be an adult at that point, be with me or not, I’d get it. Come 18 years old, on vacation, saw a shop, said “Hey I got enough to get it.” Mom tried to play reverse psychology with me and said “Fine, go get it.” And I did. @@GamerVjTheGoat I got a rose with a skull in it on my lower thigh. Sweet and simple tattoo, but my mom was still scared. Stayed in the room with me the whole time on the verge of crying because she thought the guy was hurting me (I was fine) all the while telling me “It’s okay to cry!!!” She cried so much, the guy was like “Maybe… you shouldn’t watch?” Pretty much stabbed the guy with her eyes. I think he understood though, cause he let her stay and gave her tissues afterwards
Totally just here for Pony. That was legendary. No wonder the guy's so cool-headed and well-adjusted, he's got a sweetheart Mum

I was surprised about my dad. He was raised in a Christian, conservative environment. But when we brought tattoos and piercing up to him with my brother all he said was "as long as you pay for it I don't mind. Your body, your choice".
That's a good mindset.
Same for me but the thing that I got told was
"No tattoos on your neck and face or hands"
Now I'm planning to cover a good portion of my body haha

I've been tattooed going on 30 years. My mom was the 1st to see the outline of my first tat. Fast forward to two years ago I finally find an artist I feel can do justice to a memorial tattoo of my father in Marine Corps dress blues from his service in WW2. I got home and she practically burst into tears. She said hello to him every day. And as a special surprise I got her portrait done on the opposite forearm while she was still around and could see it.
I want Pony's mom to adopt me, she sounds so sweet!! No wonder the man turned out so awesome.
Every Time I get a new tattoo my mom doesnt talk to me for one whole week and after a week she asks me what it means? It is our cycle.

I had a really rough year in 2015/16 and my mam surprised me with a trip to the Harry Potter Warner Brothers studios. It was such a positive moment in a dark year. Afterwards I decided to get a little tattoo added to my leg collection. I looked up some tattoo studios in London and I booked a session. My mam and I both went to the studio and she had a great time and the artists loved her.

the story pony lawsons mother spoke was so inspiring. i’m learning the art of tattooing. been doing it for little over two years. did art for all my life and am self taught with tattooing. read so much research with books and interviews of artists. constantly book learning and it helps so much with the art skill itself. i hope to open a shop with a partner and a piercer. hopefully around pittsburgh. pa is my home state and if i can find success so close to home and family it would be the best thing i could imagine to accomplish. i’m 27 and i’m gonna keep trying till i i’m on my death bed

Now I'm mostly covered and she absolutely LOVES them. I made smart choices when deciding what I wanted and where to go.
I recently had the back of my left leg done. It's easily my most visible and she keeps bringing up "when are you going to get the color finished?". It's so nice having her do the same kind of turn around.
@@lesliesteele3926 I have an Egyptian theme on the front of my right leg that was styled to resemble a tomb wall. I replaced the God Anubis's face for my own dog's. That's her favorite tattoo to date.

It's so interesting how any art related career tends to cause worry. It is a competitive field, but it is achievable. As a choreographer, my parents weren't too keen on me being a dancer, now, as they see my achievements, they're proud of what I've done♡♡♡

Me and my mom got our first tattoos at the same time. She had been wanting a tattoo for decades and always chickened out so when I told her I was thinking about getting one she offered to pay for it if I brought her to get hers and keep her from backing out.
