This was an all time NHL Playoffs choke

- We just witnessed an NHL Playoffs collapse of epic proportions! You may remember earlier this season, I made a video on the Nashville Predators losing a game they were up 2-1 in with 15 seconds remaining. Somehow the Predators found a way to end up losing that game in regulation 3-2 to the Dallas Stars. That was one of the craziest chokes I had ever seen. Today though, may have topped. On the biggest stage that is the NHL Playoffs, the predators just threw away a game. See, coming into this game not only was the Vancouver Canucks starting goalie Thatcher Demko out due to injury, prior to puck drop it was announced that their backup Casey DeSmith, who had only played 2 games himself, was now ALSO injured. Vancouver was down to their 3rd string goalie, Artur Shilovs on the road, in Nashville in one of the toughest barns in the league. The Predators were dominant and played what was likely their best game of the series gaining a 3-1 lead with under 10 to go. With the Canucks down bad late in this game, it looked all but over with Sissons putting the puck towards the empty net. Quinn Hughes thought it was over, the Preds bench thought it was over and yet, it hit the post! This was one the Predators will lose sleep on for a while... I cover it all in todays NHL hockey video!

How far can the Canucks go without Demko and now DeSmith?
By the looks of it, pretty far...
Silovs is playing with ice in his veins...AT 23 YEARS OLD. Thats not common for goalies typically, from what Ive heard about how goalies develop.
Honestly if they keep playing the way they’re playing then hopefully pretty far
1 game at least😂
DeSmith is back next game and Demko likely back next series or part -way through
What happened to DeSmith I was wondering that in the beginning of the first period.
I guess this is why women prefer Nashville hockey players.
They can stay on top for 60 minutes and still come second.
Bro 😂
This comment wins.

😂😂😂
Coming from a Nashville fan with two women in his life I can attest this is truth. May the hockey gods shine.
The third goalie to beat the preds is crazy
3 goalies in 4 games is just unreal
Not too crazy when you think about it, the canucks have goalie coach Ian Clark.. he's one of the best if not the best goalie coaches in the league. Canucks breeds good goaltenders.
@@quattrob that may be so, but 3 goalies in 4 games is wild. Most teams will be using their starter for all the games.
hes good tho. silovs is national team goalie. won MVP of 2023 WC, leading latvia to bronze medal.
don't forget their 5th goalie had a 48 save game in the AHL playoffs tonight.
As an outside observer of these 2 clubs that hit during the celly was 100% intentional and shiuldve been called for unsportsmanlike
100% plus kick motion goal, Canucks plowing through these nonncalls
Lauzon hitting Petterson after that goal was a real scum bag move.
@LarryLarryize-wu4ru I was actually OK with that goal. Good non-challenge by Tocchet.
EDIT: Everyone who has responded are correct. You can not challenge for a kicked in goal. My bad.
@@fbsiubvsitdhdhjuk Yeah I don't know why everyone was complaining about the no challenge. Miller has scored multiple goals in similar fashion.
@@fbsiubvsitdhdhjuk You cant challenge those goals.
Preds are dirty. First they hit DeSmith in game 3 and now Pettersson in game 4. Dude was just skating back to the bench after the goal. So glad karma caught up to them and they lost both games.
Yup hockey gods didnt like that...theres a certain code of ethics.
Desmith was a little bitch tho, and that hit on stastney should’ve been a major
Yup I am so disappointed in my team
@@Cheyennemae.Aatleast it’s not my team (the penguins)
Not as dirty as the filthy left wing weirdos ready to burn down vancouver when they lose next round
ANd they suck anyway
15 shots on an average team?
After Toronto i despise Vancouver most
Canada has been trudeaued
Hope all canadian teams are out
Greetings from sweden
Silovs celly at the end was amazing.
Ya.. the hogan ear hold was so appropriate due to all the YOU SUCK chants nashville like to do
As a Canucks fan, watching all the disappointed fans and players feels really good when they spent the whole game chanting "Canucks Suck" and "whos your goalie" and a couple other taunts at silvos! maybe I am just a bad person but watching them be upset and sad after all the felt good
Why are you getting upset at fans chanting facts?
@@bloodycrepe If the Canucks suck then I guess the Preds really suck.
🤓👆@@bloodycrepe
@bloodycrepe if it was facts what does that say about Nashville they must be worse than the Canucks if they lose to them like this
Bro I’m a Nashville fan, all we do is choke in the playoffs, but the thought you have is totally valid
This is the second time in NHL history a team has won 3 games with 3 different goalies in a playoff series.
It was also Vancouver the first time, in 2004. The Cardiac Canucks are still a real thing, even 30+ years later.
That’s hilarious. I love random stats like this 😂
Cloutier, Hedberg and Auld, only to lose in OT in 7 with Alex Auld. I remember that heartbreak well.
That replay @ 3:05 ... totally a kicking motion! First time I've seen that angle
It was 100% kicked in.
That was not a kicking motion. You are allowed to angle your skate so the puck goes in the net. Thats all it was. Have you even seen someone kick before?
@@leviklynstra8975 he doesn't just angle his skate. He moves his foot towards the puck in order to propel it in more accurately. I wonder if there's a word for using your foot to propel something forward 🤔🤔🤔
Yes, agree
@@leviklynstra8975 the rule is "a distinctive kicking motion".
It doesn't have to be a soccer kick, for Christ's sake. The kicking motion was there, there's no question about it.
If the call on the ice was challenged, there's no doubt it would be overturned.
As a longtime Canucks 92 fan from North Vancouver, I'd like to say thank you Colton Sissons who also is from North Van you made my day by missing a spectacular backhand open net. Congrats to the Canucks well deserved win. LFG!!!
I'm from north vancouver also and was lmfao😂😂😂😂

Wow! That comeback after an empty net post... Could not have scripted that much better. As a Canucks fan, I could hardly believe it happened.
I've watched these replays 20+ times still get goosebumps
Totally reminds me of the 2014 women's gold medal game
You're 100% the only one that remembers this@@grouchycatyvr
@@spratt69 Me too...rewatched them a few times and still can't believe it....
This is one of the differences in this this season. In the past the Canucks would be the ones being scored on and hitting posts on an empty goal. More often than not this season the lucky bounces have gone their way. How does that saying go? “You need to be lucky to be good and good to be lucky!” Perhaps there’s an inkling of truth in that.
3 goalies, three wins,
Unlike Toronto, it looks like the Canucks DO have 4 goalies 🤣
When the puck hit the post on the empty, I swear, I, out loud, prayed to the Hockey gods to have Vancouver come back and win in OT. Not saying I'm responsible, but I think the Hockey gods listened to me.
I am here just ask
😂😂😂
I single handedly won dragon slaying game for us. I believe you. This game was all you.
In the third intermission I had a smoke outside and watched that video some leafs fans took of themselves watching their team collapse in 2013 to boston. Thought that it might be bad karma only to go back inside as lindholm scored. Was in disbelief at first thinking it might be a highlight from a previous game until I heard lindholms name.
My first thought was, that's going to come back to haunt the Predators.
Kicked in.
I was out to dinner, glanced at the score and it was 3-1 with 3:45 left to go. I drove home thinking it was all over. My friend texted me and said, hey Van won. LOL. I rewound the game from the 3:45 time and I couldn't stop laughing. I've never seen anything like that!
Watch the Isles and Canes game 2 new hockey fan
@@Imnotactuallyadrinker I'll watch the highlights. ;). I've been watching hockey since I was a kid in the 70s. Van looked like they were not pressing at all. The Predator hitting the empty net post made me laugh so hard. LOL.
I thought the same ! I went mountain biking and came home to some awesome highlights !
@@Imnotactuallyadrinkerblindly calling people “new hockey fans” is a very new hockey fan thing to do lollll
Me too. I went home prematurely with 8 mins left. My friend texted me too. Lesson for me is it ain't over til it's over cuz you never know what these Canucks can do. I'm staying til the very end next time.
As an Anaheim Ducks fan this is the greatest game ever
Are you forgetting the Duck Oilers series where they can back 3 goals down with less than 5 min???
Trash ville, trash ville, you suck!! It's all your fault! It's all your fault!! Fake pumped noise.
I like the Canuck's strategy of changing up the goalies with every game.
Always keep 'em guessing! 😉
Could become a thing of the future! 😅
Tolopilo next?😂😂
4:27 Big Zaddy blocking 2 guys from getting to boeser
This proves Canucks being top team in the West whole season was not a fluke unlike Jets.
I agree but I think experience might be their team issue this year. Maybe I'm wrong, but even the best teams got knocked out the first few tries
Jets are facing probably the most formidable team in playoffs right now. Avs are firing on all eight at this point. Did you watch any of their games? Incredible. Still, Jets don't look bad at all and they would be doing pretty well against anyone in the west except Avs. As everyone is uhh and ahh about McJesus and the Oil, Makar & Co. are just on different level right now. They are so much fun to watch. What I like about Avs is that each and every player is an excellent skater - something you can't say about any other team. Everyone is doing everything in top speed, from top down. Their 3rd and 4th lines could be easily top two lines on any other team - that's how good Avs are.
Win the series then talk. The hardest win is the fourth. I wouldnt get ahead of yourself given the canucks only played 15 mins in thi game tops. Sure that is what they needed but let's be real here. yall were a post away from the series being tied. Not really a beat down, coming from someone that expected much more of vancouver. Tremendous grit to stay in it ill admit, but imagine if this team played like this for 60 mins? this series would be over
Yikes they were a fraction of an inch from losing this game. You can’t rely on miracles to win games.
two flukes, someone has to win
3:46 Note Boeser's facial expression. He doesn't party until it's party time. All business. That third goal? Party time.
4:44 A little shimmy? Nyquist's ankles are now in the locker room!!
Its always good to get an outside the market perspective on the canucks
I'm glad some of y'all are supporting us in the playoffs
we may not go far but we won't go without a fight, and apologizes for canucks twitter in advance... 😁😇
That was a great game! I'm happy for the Canucks! Vancouver has a good hockey club! It's not over yet, and I can't wait to see how it unfolds! It's playoff hockey, and games like yesterday are exactly what makes this so darned exciting!
What a comeback by the Canucks!!!
Love my Canucks. From Dubai!
I'm baffled everyone is so chill about the after goal hit. Thats a suspension, no questions asked 100% of the time and I'm disappointed in the league and refs for not making it so. Children know better for fuck sakes
Do you not watch the NHL? It's a league full of over grown manboys who act cowardly alllllllll the time. Literally every single game has crap like this. Hockey players have the least respect for each other of any of the major sports. Hockey fans are in complete denial about this.
JFC, do you think you are watching children's ringette? The no call is nuts, but it's a 2 for unsportsmanlike, no more.
@@nitePhyyre so when a player is scored on and does it it's a multiple game suspension. In that scenario there is understandable motive in the situation.
In this situation there is zero reason or motive, meaning it was purely malicious. Even with this info I'm suggesting a lesser repercussion than that of a far more understandable scenario.
What's your logic on it?
Edit: I realize in this OG comment I said they should be suspended - I think they should but am suggesting game misconduct is more than reasonable.
Greasy play, by a player from that province...wouldn't have done that to Zadorov
Nux fan. 2 mins at worse. It’s playoffs man.
One of the craziest endings to a playoff game I have seen...
That missed empty-netter really hurt...
The difference between 3-1 and 2-2 is HUGE 💯
As a Canucks fan holy smokes what an emotion roller coaster 😂
I just love seeing the preds lose tbh, never gets old.
Best thing about being a Sabres fan is that I’ll never know what choking in the playoffs is like. It really is a great feeling….and by great I mean soul crushing.
Man if you guys played in another division then playoffs would be no problem. That’s rough division to try and win.
That was 100% a kick by Forsberg. No matter what your eyes tell you, one thing should tell you more: he did not celebrate one bit. He knew it was illegal and was just waiting for the review that never came.
I agree, definately a deliberate rapid motion to accelerate the slab into the goal. BS call but the sun comes up tomorrow morning so...
No it was a good goal as Vans coach even said.
Dun matter what I say or you say or tocchet says or league says. There’s the rules and there’s the evidence. 100% he kicked it in albeit the most minor of kicks. Bieksa explained it exactly as everyone saw it after the 3rd.
The league has blown plenty of calls before. This was one of them.
@@campion04 There wasn't a distinct kicking motion which is exactly why the goal counted and Vancouver said it was a good goal. 🤦🏻
@@ryanb3908 there are clear 2 sides that aren’t agreeing. No need to discuss. Both sides have seen all the evidence.
Bruh. I was watching from Europe until 2 am. I can't with this team. They thought they had a game and let loose. I am not gonna even blame it on missing empty net because even without it they were supposed to defend and win.
Gosh cannucks are so good 🐟
I watched the full game and yeah. Last period was pain
Proudly worked for the Canucks in the mid 90's when they had one the best teams since its inception - but I have to say, this one right here, bar none, is the very best Canuck team, ever.
Unfortunately, Bettman is not allowing them to win the cup
Hey nice profile pic
@@daweller oh shoot 😂
OMGOSH what a choke! I was listening to it and was slack jawed. Even as a Caps fan that was an epic collapse. The insane year that is the 23-24 NHL season continues.
what a night for silovs too... such a cool experience for that guy
If Demko and DeSmith are out for any length of time then I hope we have one of those magical individual moments where Silovs comes in and surprises everyone. He did the Latvian national team thing at the worlds or whatever so he's no stranger to coming into a big situations and excelling. Still this is the NHL, and he's going to have to dial it up even more. It is what it is. Just have to hope he can rise to the occasion and that the other two aren't that badly hurt.
The Canucks have been setting records all season, playoffs no different. And coming back late in the third is a skillset they have.
As a blues fan, i like this video
I wanna know whos idea it was to have Zadorov be the net front presence, Foote or Gonchar, because looking back it at, its wild that he effectively blocked 2 players from reaching the crease for the tying goal
Wow. I didn’t even notice this. Wow!
Two HoF defensemen plus Tocchet, the Canucks coaching roster has some sick pedigree
I know! Nobody mentions that! Zadorov always looks like he's having fun and it was a great move to use him in front. He's an absolute beauty!
I also
Ove that everybody's early season whipping boy, Myers, is now playing his best hockey.
Historic Canucks playoff win! Lindholm trade is now a huge win! Unbelievable! What a time to be alive! What area of Rogers arena do the Canucks put the Lindholm statue.
Sissons empty net miss was almost Patrick Stefan like but the result worse for Sissons and the Preds!
Sissons is from Vancouver... just sayin'.
Inside job @@leechap3
You can't challenge a kicking motion. It's automatically reviewed by the situation room in Toronto
Yes, you are correct. Toronto should have overturned it. Don't like those soccer goals.
@@danceswithcritters how that wasn't over turned is beyond me? I dnt mind the puck going off the skate in stopping motion, be the guy made a "Kicking Motion!"
Looks like the situation room took the night off. Clearly kicked in and shouldn't have counted.
While this is true, they lost anyways so it doesn’t matter
naa...you guys are wrong. He most certainly angled his skate but I've seen a ton of those types this season and last and they don't call that. Kicking motion is almost literal. Foot lifted off the ice to put the puck in. They've got to kick it in. The angle redirects are almost always let go.
Canucks won....all's good. Don't be homers.
Someone else pointed it out to me, but there's no coach's challenge allowed for a kick in(refs call stands). But give the Canucks some credit for not giving up after getting spanked. They didn't play their best, but was able to keep the press on to the end and won the momentum to snatch it. You feel bad for them(and I've been a Canucks fan since the late 90s), but these things do occasionally happen to teams that deserve better(just as the Canucks deserve to not have both goalies be out after 3 games and the series to be more of a best on best matchup).
That said, hard work or not, the Canucks got real lucky when they needed it(old saying goes though, you need to put yourself into position to capitalize on luck when you get it), and they managed to do just that. Preds are not out if they keep playing like they did for 50+ minutes today for a series, but they can't let themselves count the Canucks out either. They're showing they've got enough will to bite back and bite hard if you let them have a shot.
Looking forward to the adjustments(and hopefully see DeSmith return, and maybe stay in the post season long enough to see Demko return as well.
No from a Preds fan trust me the Preds are out they can’t make a comeback to tie the series they might as well be eliminated now. No matter how long in a game the Preds can have it together they still up blowing it.
Was looking for someone to comment this. Big ups to the Canucks for not sulking through the rest of the game (pause here while I bite my tongue to stop from mentioning another Canadian team) and giving us a hell of a show
I could watch hours of the Nashville crowd. Gimmie more of that

Great recap!
All I have to say is what a game for the Canucks
Silovs just earned a ticket to the NHL Canucks will have a goaltending issue on who they keep
If they keep rolling with him while Canucks make a run then his trade stock will be high. Especially being young and RFA (affordable cap hit).
You repeated what the announcer said: "the Canucks are only the eighth team to erase a two goal deficit with less than two minutes left". But they started erasing the deficit with almost three minutes left.
Clearly, he meant three minutes.
@@matthewburga Not necessarily. Maybe he just misspoke, but it's also possible that a production assistant made a mistake (because you know it's not the announcer who's doing the research on-the-fly) and researched the numbers based on two minutes instead of three.

And here I thought last week's ISLANDERS game was the worst choke job since Linda Lovelace .
So far this is some of the craziest playoff hockey we've seen. Absolutely amazing goaltending across the league, hat tricks, and goals galore!
Awesome vid!!!
When are you going to cover the Cane's???
“It’s all your fault” oh those chants at 3-1 were hilarious.
Such an amazing game. There is nothing like playoff hockey!
I like it I love it I want some more of it!
Absolutely great game and comeback from Canucks
Man it’s gotta be tough being a Preds fan after this. From the SC Final loss to that Dallas game and now this.
Idk which is worse, scissons missing an empty net, or nyquist getting his ankles broken and made to look silly leading to the tying goal.
What a finish, this is what i like to see in the playoffs. The hardest win is the fourth so we will see if the canucks can carry this energy with them home and finish them off. Preds will coming after them. they will not take it lying down so the canucks need to keep applying the pressure
The Canucks played Nashville's strength against them. As the Preds were all up ice trying to block the point shot, it left the Canucks down low outnumbering them 3-1 on the two late third period goals. Lindholm was even all alone on the OT goal.
Im from Europe and currently live in vancouver. This series was my first time watching ice hockey lol. Interesting for sure
Lauzon hitting Pettersson reminded me a lot of Wideman hitting the ref from behind into the boards. You could tell he meant to do it.
The stupid hit on Peterson during the celebration was disgusting. So glad about the outcome.
The last goal was all because of Joshua who kept the puck in...
What a story for your first NHL game! Silvos!!!
What makes it even more incredible is that Vancouver was non existent in this game until the last 3 minutes. So little effort and I questioned if they knew they were down 3-1 in the third.
So satisfying to see hockey karma in action haha. Forsberg's goal was a textbook kicking motion and it was a joke that it wasn't reviewable, McCarron's hit on Casey DeSmith in G3 forcing us to start our third string goalie, and then the cheap shot from Lauzon on Pettersson after scoring a goal.
One of the best comebacks I've ever seen. Canucks for The Cup!
Hey man how did you get that clip with the predators inflatable mask, I'm lookinf for it everywhere with audio can you share it with me?
No Nashville defenseman positioned anywhere near the front of the goal in overtime. A bold strategy.
Petterson going into fetal position during thier celebration is hilarious lmao. Like a tornado drill " ill just wait it out"
This is just average Predators hockey:

2016 RD2 Game 7 vs Sharks
2017 SCF Game 6 vs Penguins
2018 RD2 Game 7 vs Jets

All fans of all teams share your pain. We feel the rough losses very acutely, but they happen to every team.
Best wishes rest of the way. Series isn't over until it's over.
They also blew a 4-0 lead against the Coyotes in the last game, if they had of just made it to overtime they would of played Calgary 1st round instead of Colorado who won the cup that year
It wasn’t just a meltdown, it was the skill of the Canucks. A hat trick by Bowser is pure skill!
Love your watermark bro. Hate those people that throw a huge colorful logo on.
Boeser is a fucking Boss. Loved seein him at UND.
I'm not a fan of either of these teams, (GO BRUINS!!) but THAT, was one HELLUVA comeback and show of teamwork which is what makes The Playoffs such an emotional rollercoaster! LOVE IT!
Furthermore, I'm not sure what your full time job is, @nextmanupNMU , but you do a MASTERFUL job at what you do here and in ALL your videos! CHEERS to you my friend!!👏👍
You must be forgetting the Leafs last 10 minute collapse against the Bruins a few years back and did this Vancouver goalie drive the Zamboni.
Im loving the empty net play. Putting back the goalie again. Then empty net play again.... that worked!!!!
Great moment for Silovs
Damn. How do you have a wide open net 🥅, win the game, only to hit the goalpost with 1:45 to go in regulation? The Nashville Predators absolutely CHOKED. Unbelievable.
This game was AWESOME!!
That's karma for kicking a goal in and shoving Petterssen during the celebration.
I'm not clear on the rule so maybe someone can help. Is redirecting the puck with the side of your skate deemed kicking? He didn't kick it...he turned his skate sideways to the puck and in it went. The exact definition of the rule is unknown to me. Someone please explain?
Hey man. I love your videos and I love hockey but I have one small request. Is it possible that you can hide the score of the match you're covering on your thumbnails. I realize this may be some extra work but it would be greatly appreciated as places to get spoiled of results from matches you've not yet seen are so numerous.
Much love from Sweden
Scared the crap out of my cats watching that game. What a ride. Go Vancouver!
A lot of comments have been about Forsbergs goal but can we talk about the blown defensive coverage in OT for that goal? How in hell was Lindholm that open? I would love to see more discussion about that!
First time I saw the Forsberg goal from that angle. Looked like a kicking motion. Doesn’t have to look like a soccer kick. He propelled his leg toward the puck. Doesn’t Toronto review all goals?
Trashvilles new chant: Hey, we choked...Hey, we choked...
Braten by the third string goalie leading by 2 and missed a lay up ekpty met....how do they recover?
Not the first time the Predators choked away a lead in a crucial playoff game late and lost in overtime (2010 first round vs Blackhawks, Game 5, for reference)
how you feeling about that choke now, smashville just took a game from them so it's really not a choke unless they lose multiple games in a row and it wasn't completely screwed for them after this game in the video
Nashville went from being up 3-1 to being down 3-1
It is a game like this one that makes one believe in "the hockey gods"!!! How else to explain such a comeback by one team and/or such a defensive collapse by the other team!
The 2010 Blackhawks v Preds Game 5 has a different opinion on all-time Preds’ chokes. The Hawks got the tying goal on a 5 minute Hossa major PK. Killed it in OT and Hossa scored immediately upon getting back on the ice from the penalty box.
Canucks pulling out that red tear stone ring build.
Nice it’s good to see that the leafs aren’t the only ones to choke!😊
Coconuts go!
